    Impeccable Beach Hotel!
We stayed at the Montreal for the first time last week. Not our first time to Cape May, we've been coming for 22 years and love it here! This was a somewhat last minute 2 night stay to celebrate our daughter becoming an RN. We've stayed at other hotels over the years (Avondale, Marquis and once at Congress-they were booked these 2 nights), this hotel and room was the best by far! I loved everything about it. First of all there is absolutely no musty smell whatsoever. All the other hotels suffer from it. This place is completely new, up to date and just beautiful. The room is meticulously decorated with all the amenities one would need! We were in the king suite oceanview, fourth floor. Gorgeous view from the balcony. We were quite comfortable. The entire staff was lovely. Starting at check in with Dustin. He was very welcoming, the lobby is fresh, clean and airy. What's nice is they provide you with beach tags as well as lounge chairs and umbrella. Note: It's only 2 chairs. Like $15 extra for each add'l person, but still worth it. Allen was happy to set us up on the beach. As another reviewer mentioned there is a "resort fee", that must be in fine print somewhere, still not a problem for us. It probably covers the beach tags and rentals for the entire stay. Nothing is really free! For only staying 2 nights, I was pleasantly surprised that we were provided with room cleaning service. I walked in to a woman freshening up our room. She was sweeping, making beds, removing the garbage, all fresh towels given and overall tidying up. I also witnessed an employee wiping down the interior of the elevator. The place is clean and well maintained. Having a restaurant and outdoor bar is another plus. We indulged in a few delicious drinks made by Rich (and yummy chicken wings). I really enjoyed his light dry sense of humor. We also met Noah, on his first day, who couldn't have been kinder or more personable. We saw him the next day taking food orders on the beach. Great service, but no thank you, the seagulls were a little too brazen for me. Dinner at Harry's was also wonderful. Julia was our server and she was very attentive. The menu caters to all tastes and wallets, not like a lot of the other Cape May restaurants. We thought the location was just as perfect as the hotels and inns closer to Washington Square. It's only a couple blocks down from those (and we love the walking here) plus this area is a bit quieter. We spoke with a few guests, some who have been staying here for 20-40 years, and shockingly some of them are dissatisfied with the renovations! What??? Yes they are the ones writing these lower reviews, wanna know why? Get a load of this... they miss the stove top... the small kitchen table with 2 chairs... and apparently there used to be a full size frig. Come on... really people? These peeps are on the older side, we're 58, so not so young, and we loved the entire experience. I did get one complaining woman to admit that she loved the new shower, and it really is nice, no shower curtains here! Plenty of room and storage in the bathroom. The mini frig is what all the other hotels offer. Great microwave and long counter top with cabinets. Fully stocked with utensils, wine opener, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses etc. One very insignificant suggestion...the room could use an inexpensive full length mirror on the couch/pull out side of suite...to the left of the door. There is one on the bed side, but one by the front door is a better location. I forgot to mention at check out that the bathroom door needs a dab of WD40. This resort totally deserves the name "resort", it offers so much, great pool and kiddie pool and a rooftop area that we didn't make the time to get up on. Liquor store too if you need lol! It's truly a hidden gem. We will be back for sure. If you are considering staying in CM...no need to look further. Do not hesitate to book here, it will not disappoint. And BTW, I do not go out of my way to write reviews, this hotel is worthy!!

    Excellent place for a getaway
First off, the staff here were one of the nicest and most accommodating staff's I have ever stayed with in my 26 years of traveling. My wife and I have been spending a weekend in Cape May for the last few years this time of year. I booked this stay online through Montreal's website and it was very easy. I even received a phone call from Manager Dustin after I booked as a courtesy call. When we arrived the two employee's at the front desk had the maids double check the room for air temp, cleaning chemical odors as it had just been sanitized and cleaned. Our room was way better than described online with a awesome breach front view and balcony. As with most places you always hear other occupants or guests but we didn't hear ANYTHING. Not even a door slam or the elevator ding which is amazing as we were literally 10 feet from it and the stair well. Within walking distance of many beach front restaurants and cafes. Harry's wasn't open during out stay but we look forward to coming back! Great staff, beautiful rooms and excellent location!

    Wonderful return visit. Nice renovation.
We have been to Cape May about 20 times and the Montreal Beach Resort has been in our top 7 places to stay depending on how many of us are planning to stay. When it's 4 of us (kids are young adults now), we prefer 2 bedrooms and 2 baths condos. This place is great for couples and families with younger kids! The renovation is gorgeous. The mattress is wonderful! We enjoyed awesome food, drink, and music at Harry's on site. In the summer they offer beach service which we have enjoyed in the past. The Montreal is a little bit of a walk to town mall strip (like 10 minutes) for those with younger kids or mobility issues, but we don't mind because walking all over Cape May is fantastic! Sorry to hear someone had a noise problem. April/May and September/October are huge months for weddings down there which may have been the cause of the issue. I can say we did not hear a sound in our room and we have not ever experienced such a sound problem in any of our 20 stays down there. We are already booked for next year. We love the 4th floor!

Second year staying at the Montreal Beach Resort and won’t be my last. The rooms are always clean, great ocean view, awesome outdoor pool, helpful staff, great restaurant and rooftop bar. Now to save the best for last. SUPER CHESTER. If you have been to Montreal… you know! Chester is the hard work you want to leave at home. From setting you up at the beach with your umbrella and chairs, to Zumba at the pool, to bringing you in and out of town, to making you and your family FEEL LIKE family. THANK YOU CHESTER!! We appreciate you! See you next Summer Montreal!

What a nice place to stay! I loved the way they let you check in early and gave you beach passes and parking. Our room was ready by 2pm and the next day we left the room at 11am but used the facilities including beach umbrellas and chairs till 2pm. The linens were great and the place was totally remodeled. Nice music could be heard from Henrys but it didn't go on too late. Good location...nice people. Family place.

Room was clean and updated but very small and we had to walk in a crazy long hallway to get to the ends of the earth to reach it. Stairs and hallways are dirty and not updated. Very cheap updates which will not age well - they forgot to grout some of the tiles in our tub. Front desk nice but biggest problem is beach. For a hefty “resort fee”, they never had clean towels down at the beach, they loudly started cleaning up chairs and umbrellas at 2pm which was so annoying and not relaxing. While lots of reviewers liked Chester, we found him annoying and the vibe was Club Med - not Cape May. Super expensive rooms - we have been coming to Cape May for decades but will not return to this “motel” pretending to be a resort hotel.

This review is specific to the beach services team lead by Super Chester. Chester is simply fantastic. Each day of our stay was brightened by his positivity and the depths that he went to ensure our family enjoyed the experience. His personal attention to everyone was inspiring, amazing and greatly appreciated. For the past two summer seasons, he has brought to Cape May, a Punta-Cana vibe that is unlike any we have seen in the last 25+ years. His gamesmanship, good sportsmanship, creativity, imagination span the mulitple age generations of the Cape May beach crowd. Everyone loves him. He is a treasure. It cannot be stressed enough how much he should be appreciated by the Montreal Beach Resort corporate organization. He is a difference maker and a game-changer. He really is Super Chester.

We have been going there for many years. All was wonderful until they were bought out by a resort company. They replaced the furniture with crap from IKEA. It is the cheapest furniture you can imagine & most of it is broken & the drawers are stuck shut. The lamps must of cost $5 each. The floors in the rooms are absolutely filthy. My feet were black from walking on the floors. They rearranged some of the bedrooms so they are all in the front of the room right at the sliding glass doors to the balcony. Anyone can look in & see what you are doing; dressing, sleeping etc. so if you want to get dressed in the daylight, you have to close your curtains. Not a bright idea at all. If you have visitors in your room & you want to sit on the balcony together, you have to go through the bedroom. Also, we were getting the locality rate because we were there for years. Now there is no loyalty rate & the rooms increased by $150 PER NIGHT from what we were paying. Way too expensive for that place. Other places are much nicer for less money. They also don’t monitor who makes use of their pool. I have seen outsiders drive in & use the pool with their families & then leave. Therefore, the pool is overcrowded & extremely noisy.
