We stayed at the Montreal for the first time last week. Not our first time to Cape May, we've been coming for 22 years and love it here! This was a somewhat last minute 2 night stay to celebrate our daughter becoming an RN. We've stayed at other hotels over the years (Avondale, Marquis and once at Congress-they were booked these 2 nights), this hotel and room was the best by far! I loved everything about it. First of all there is absolutely no musty smell whatsoever. All the other hotels suffer from it. This place is completely new, up to date and just beautiful. The room is meticulously decorated with all the amenities one would need! We were in the king suite oceanview, fourth floor. Gorgeous view from the balcony. We were quite comfortable. The entire staff was lovely. Starting at check in with Dustin. He was very welcoming, the lobby is fresh, clean and airy. What's nice is they provide you with beach tags as well as lounge chairs and umbrella. Note: It's only 2 chairs. Like $15 extra for each add'l person, but still worth it. Allen was happy to set us up on the beach. As another reviewer mentioned there is a "resort fee", that must be in fine print somewhere, still not a problem for us. It probably covers the beach tags and rentals for the entire stay. Nothing is really free! For only staying 2 nights, I was pleasantly surprised that we were provided with room cleaning service. I walked in to a woman freshening up our room. She was sweeping, making beds, removing the garbage, all fresh towels given and overall tidying up. I also witnessed an employee wiping down the interior of the elevator. The place is clean and well maintained. Having a restaurant and outdoor bar is another plus. We indulged in a few delicious drinks made by Rich (and yummy chicken wings). I really enjoyed his light dry sense of humor. We also met Noah, on his first day, who couldn't have been kinder or more personable. We saw him the next day taking food orders on the beach. Great service, but no thank you, the seagulls were a little too brazen for me. Dinner at Harry's was also wonderful. Julia was our server and she was very attentive. The menu caters to all tastes and wallets, not like a lot of the other Cape May restaurants. We thought the location was just as perfect as the hotels and inns closer to Washington Square. It's only a couple blocks down from those (and we love the walking here) plus this area is a bit quieter. We spoke with a few guests, some who have been staying here for 20-40 years, and shockingly some of them are dissatisfied with the renovations! What??? Yes they are the ones writing these lower reviews, wanna know why? Get a load of this... they miss the stove top... the small kitchen table with 2 chairs... and apparently there used to be a full size frig. Come on... really people? These peeps are on the older side, we're 58, so not so young, and we loved the entire experience. I did get one complaining woman to admit that she loved the new shower, and it really is nice, no shower curtains here! Plenty of room and storage in the bathroom. The mini frig is what all the other hotels offer. Great microwave and long counter top with cabinets. Fully stocked with utensils, wine opener, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses etc. One very insignificant suggestion...the room could use an inexpensive full length mirror on the couch/pull out side of suite...to the left of the door. There is one on the bed side, but one by the front door is a better location. I forgot to mention at check out that the bathroom door needs a dab of WD40. This resort totally deserves the name "resort", it offers so much, great pool and kiddie pool and a rooftop area that we didn't make the time to get up on. Liquor store too if you need lol! It's truly a hidden gem. We will be back for sure. If you are considering staying in CM...no need to look further. Do not hesitate to book here, it will not disappoint. And BTW, I do not go out of my way to write reviews, this hotel is worthy!!…
