Have stayed here Off season over the past 16 years. The Madison group did a great job of refreshing the rooms, but it's still a motel across the street from a beach and no where near a "resort@.. $700 for a weekend in October is steep. At least Harry's was open, but it seems to cater to the bar hopping, party set. The inside section was very dreary and the Halloween decor screams honky think tacky and not resort. The offering of shuttle service is nice but is only available afternoon and evenings. Parking seemed very tight and you better not move that car, so expanded shuttle service could be a plus. I'm sure in season there are more beach amenities that would maybe justify the price. However we would stay here again but avoid pricy times

What a nice place to stay! I loved the way they let you check in early and gave you beach passes and parking. Our room was ready by 2pm and the next day we left the room at 11am but used the facilities including beach umbrellas and chairs till 2pm. The linens were great and the place was totally remodeled. Nice music could be heard from Henrys but it didn't go on too late. Good location...nice people. Family place.

There are few year round hotels in Cape May and this was our first time staying at the Montreal. It was fantastic.

We had booked a room with no view and because they were not at capacity, they upgraded us to a beautiful ocean front room. The room was immaculate, spacious and appeared to be recently renovated. The room also had a real closet with doors (a somewhat rare thing at the shore), plenty of cabinet and shelf space throughout. The balcony was the biggest we’ve ever had in Cape May.

The staff was very friendly, welcoming and treated us like they cared we were there.

There is a bar and restaurant right on site but with limited hours as most places in Cape May in January. However one evening they hosted an 80s music night that had a nice crowd, good music and fun on an otherwise quiet night in town.

Great property.

Where to start.... We have been staying at this hotel for many years. Madison Resorts bought out this property a few years ago, and things have gotten pretty bad since then. I don't think that we will be returning. Our "full ocean view king suite' was listed for about $400 in the September 'shoulder season'. For that price, we received a room that has two non-functioning TV's, a broken curtain across the sliding glass terrace doors, and a sagging mattress, that if you aren't careful about turning in bed, you may wind up on the floor from the sagging. Our king bed was placed in a room that was entirely too small for the size of the bed, resulting in only one night stand on one side, and barely enough room to put your feet off the bed and stand up on the other side. So you have to really crawl on 'all fours' to the end of the bed and get off the bed that way. The Madison Resorts remodeled all of the rooms, and in the process, switched the room configuration around, creating this space problem. It makes absolutely no sense. Also in the process of remodeling, the took away the cooktops in the kitchenette, which restricts a guests options and conveniences. An amenity that Madison added was complimentary golfcart taxi transportation to guests. We have been here one day, and we received notices that there were already two periods that all golfcart services were cancelled after a certain point during the day. Madison Resorts has jacked up the daily rates here exponentially, and added a $35.00 'resort fee'. Well, there is no 'resort' here. It's a motel/hotel, pool, restaurant and parking lot. In checking up and down the beach here, there are much better quality hotels, to be found, at the same or nearly the same bottom line price tag per night. On a closing positive note, we have found the staff here pleasant and mostly responsive to our needs, tending to our required room repairs and requests for additional linen and such. Though a couple of our contacts with the front desk received no response, having us to call again. The pool and parking were satisfactory. We are still looking for the 'resort' we are paying a fee for, however. If we find it, we will report back here and let everyone know exactly where it is. In conclusion, for the price point Madison Resorts has created, and given the room quality and lack of convenience we have experienced here under Madison Resorts, we feel that the rooms here are over-priced and lack maintenance and management oversight. When one pays $400/night in shoulder season, we believe that your stay should be 'flawless'. Our experience at the new Montreal Beach Resort is far from 'flawless'. It is remarkable that there are a fair number of 'poor' or 'terrible' reviews listed for this business for a few years running, and yet it seems to have no effect on management, as the same problems continue to occur, year over year according to what we read on trip advisor. Quite remarkable.

They promised a room with a direct view of the ocean I got a room with a partial view and the rest of the view was of neighboring room balconies. We had no private balcony( we were on the corner) so the room had no privacy with the adjoing room guests looked directly into our room., and right next to outside stairway. Be very careful with the room you sign up for because they wanted to say I still had a "view" !! I had reserved the room on November 14 for a special trip my wife and I were taking to Cape May for New Year's Eve. It ruined our time just because they decided us. They offered a $50 refund for ruining our time in Cape May.

We have been going there for many years. All was wonderful until they were bought out by a resort company. They replaced the furniture with crap from IKEA. It is the cheapest furniture you can imagine & most of it is broken & the drawers are stuck shut. The lamps must of cost $5 each. The floors in the rooms are absolutely filthy. My feet were black from walking on the floors. They rearranged some of the bedrooms so they are all in the front of the room right at the sliding glass doors to the balcony. Anyone can look in & see what you are doing; dressing, sleeping etc. so if you want to get dressed in the daylight, you have to close your curtains. Not a bright idea at all. If you have visitors in your room & you want to sit on the balcony together, you have to go through the bedroom. Also, we were getting the locality rate because we were there for years. Now there is no loyalty rate & the rooms increased by $150 PER NIGHT from what we were paying. Way too expensive for that place. Other places are much nicer for less money. They also don’t monitor who makes use of their pool. I have seen outsiders drive in & use the pool with their families & then leave. Therefore, the pool is overcrowded & extremely noisy.

We spent 3 days, two nights at the Montreal Beach Resort. This was my first visit to Cape May, my wife has been her numerous times and enjoys it every visit. As the travel industry continues to experience, we were also very limited in inventory of hotels options, so we chose the Montreal for 2 nights over the weekend of the 4th (only had 2 nights available). This hotel was very pricey, and not experiencing Cape May prior to this, our expectations were set a bit higher for the quality of resort we were staying at. Check-in process, as well as the entire staff in the registration office, was absolutely fantastic, polite, and very accommodating. The room we had, did not have a balcony facing the ocean, and the sliding glass door actually opened to a stairwell, so that curtain stayed closed for our entire visit. The beds were comfortable, and we had daily maid service which was nice. The bathroom looked to have been updated, although things were not finished. There was missing trim around the bathtub, ceiling tiles looked old and with water damage, and overall it just felt "unfinished". This did not ruin the trip, and we are not ones to complain, but giving an honest review is what we use when determining a place to stay.

I did want to say that the beach staff was absolutely fantastic! Super Chester kept our two kids entertained with things to do on the beach, and we were extremely grateful for this, especially the 2nd day we rented a cabana with friends. We did order lunch food both days, and we were happy with the service, even though we had a mistake with a missing meal on the first day, things happen, we weren't at all upset.

We did get beverages at the restaurant in front of the resort which were very good. We did have breakfast on our last day, but it was extremely pricey and we had much better food at the Mad Batter and George's Place. Recommend going out to breakfast, our last day we were in a bit of a rush and got a later start, but there were no omelet options, and while the food was definitely good, it just was really high priced for breakfast for what you got. We did get lunch food, and the fish tacos were good, and would recommend their beach service food since you could order from the beach and they delivered it to your chairs.

We would probably not return, and maybe consider a different resort next time, booking it further in advance.

We have been going to the Montreal Inn for about eight years now with my family of 8. We always reserve four rooms. Since the Montreal was sold and newly renovated, we are all very disappointed. They renovated the rooms with all new furniture and new flooring, but they did it as cheaply as possible. The furniture, which is new, is broken and scratched and the drawers pulling away from the panel with the handle on it to open the drawer. The floor is cheap laminate and they don’t seem to wash the floors as my feet were black walking on the floors the first night. They put the bed next to the sliding glass doors next to the balcony, which was not a good choice at all. Every time we wanted to change or get dressed, we had to pull the curtains and if we wanted to relax on the bed, we had to pull the curtains during the day. The pool used to be open till 6 PM which was fine. Now it’s open till 8 PM and if you want to have a nice relaxing glass of wine on your balcony around 7 PM, good luck with that. The kids are still screaming in the pool until 8 PM so the balcony is not enjoyable until after the pool closes. We always ate breakfast and lunch at Harry’s restaurant, which is on the premise. The food and menu was very nice. After the new ownership, they changed the menu and the choices and the food are not good. Also, before the new owners took over, the music on the upper deck shut down at 11 PM and there was no band downstairs inside the restaurant. Now they have a band in the restaurant, which is so loud that you can’t even have a conversation, and that band goes till at least 12 PM. If you have rooms near the restaurant, good luck trying to get some sleep. You were able to charge all of your drinks and food to your room and pay when you check out. Now you cannot charge it to your room, you have to pay as you go along. That was also a major inconvenience. Now they make you pay for your stay in full when you check in. They have your money so if you have any issues, don’t think you’ll see your money. Because of all these changes that are not beneficial changes. Next year we will be seeking out a different place to stay.

First off, the staff here were one of the nicest and most accommodating staff's I have ever stayed with in my 26 years of traveling. My wife and I have been spending a weekend in Cape May for the last few years this time of year. I booked this stay online through Montreal's website and it was very easy. I even received a phone call from Manager Dustin after I booked as a courtesy call. When we arrived the two employee's at the front desk had the maids double check the room for air temp, cleaning chemical odors as it had just been sanitized and cleaned.

Our room was way better than described online with a awesome breach front view and balcony. As with most places you always hear other occupants or guests but we didn't hear ANYTHING. Not even a door slam or the elevator ding which is amazing as we were literally 10 feet from it and the stair well. Within walking distance of many beach front restaurants and cafes. Harry's wasn't open during out stay but we look forward to coming back!

Great staff, beautiful rooms and excellent location!

We have been to Cape May about 20 times and the Montreal Beach Resort has been in our top 7 places to stay depending on how many of us are planning to stay. When it's 4 of us (kids are young adults now), we prefer 2 bedrooms and 2 baths condos. This place is great for couples and families with younger kids! The renovation is gorgeous. The mattress is wonderful! We enjoyed awesome food, drink, and music at Harry's on site. In the summer they offer beach service which we have enjoyed in the past. The Montreal is a little bit of a walk to town mall strip (like 10 minutes) for those with younger kids or mobility issues, but we don't mind because walking all over Cape May is fantastic! Sorry to hear someone had a noise problem. April/May and September/October are huge months for weddings down there which may have been the cause of the issue. I can say we did not hear a sound in our room and we have not ever experienced such a sound problem in any of our 20 stays down there. We are already booked for next year. We love the 4th floor!
