Just returned from a wonderful mid-week visit to this nicely decorated (comfortable bed too), quiet and clean B&B located in a great neighborhood for dog walking but also near the beach, restaurants and shops. The day starts with delicious breakfasts (quiche, omelette, french toast). The host is on site and addresses any concerns promptly be it a broken microwave or noise from a neighbor dog. Loved the nearby seafood market at the Lobster House where you can eat outside overlooking the water and pets are welcome. Will definitely return!

Another incredible week at Highland House! From the minute you arrive you and your fur babies are completely welcome! We stay here with our two dogs every year and cannot say enough positive things! The rooms and grounds are lovely and our babies can go with us everywhere, even to breakfast. The beds are comfortable, and the accommodations are quaint and make you feel right at home. The owner Dave is fantastic and goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable. Our room had a private deck with gates so the dogs could be free and safe. Highland House has it all and is located walking distance to the ocean beaches (that are dog friendly after Oct.1) and close to wonderful restaurants (try the Black Duck!) and the shops at Washington mall. This is the ONLY true haven for good pet parents and their fur kids. Tip: book in advance, us returning guests come back again and again!

My dog Forrest and I stayed for a long weekend, adding an extra day because we loved it so much! I cannot say enough positive things about this place. The vibe, owner, staff, and other guests were welcoming and warm. A home away from home vibe. Beautiful grounds decorated with healthy plants, rooms (stayed in 2 different suites) each with their own unique character adhering to the charm of the time it was built (1885). Water pressure and temperature PERFECT! Beds-COZY! Breakfast-DELICIOUS! Proximity to CVS, restaurants, arboretum/park, and beaches-CONVENIENT! We did not want to leave. Thank you to David and staff for making our stay memorable.

I can’t say enough good things about Highland House! We have been going to the shore for years but this was our first B&B experience and it was nothing short of amazing! We booked “Efficiency Suite 2” and it was very spacious for two adults, a dog and a one year old. The room is on the back of the house so that extra privacy is a nice bonus, and it has its own private deck. The deck has gates on both sides so our dog could still out with us. The room has plenty of room for families that may have a pack and play like we did. The kitchenette is great to have as well. And not to mention, the decor pulls on the heartstrings of anyone that loves dogs like we do. We even had a thunderstorm one night that kept us inside and we never felt cramped having to play card games in the room while our little one slept. Dave, the innkeeper, was so welcoming from the minute we arrived. Breakfast every day we delicious and we are so thankful that everything was ready to be served right at the beginning of the listed hours for breakfast as our one year old loves to wake us up at the crack of dawn. By the time breakfast hours came, we were more than ready to walk up front to eat. I also cannot overstate how prime the location is. We parked on the street out front and didn’t really have to move the car. It’s a 10 minute walk down to Washington Street and the shops and a 10 minute walk down Broadway right to the beach. And it’s great to have the taco place, Exit Zero Filling Station and a few other places to eat pretty much right at the intersection right down the street. Thank you for such a great trip! We will definitely be back!

We've been staying here twice a year for quite a few years. Not many places on the island allow pets, and some that do have a room or two that allow them, limit them to something like 20 lb. dogs, and aren't open to guests in the off season. Highland House is open year round, and if your dog is medium or large, it's welcome. Dave is the nicest owner. The breakfasts are fantastic, and all of the above is why we keep coming back to stay here.

We spent 3 nights in the Green Room at Highland House with Luc, our French Bulldog. It was our first stay at HH and we tried it based on Trip Advisor and Bring Fido reviews. We were thrilled to find it! Clean, comfortable and completely pet friendly. The grounds, breakfasts and location were fantastic and enabled us to have a relaxing get away. A one minute walk to a small dog friendly park and a 10 minute walk to the ocean beaches makes everything super convenient for pet parents . Every restaurant we visited had a dog friendly patio (which is unique to Cape May). The owner of the B&B was incredibly helpful and friendly and thought of every little convenience to make our stay pleasant (including much needed mosquito repellent). Definitely 5 stars and we can’t wait to return. If you are looking for a perfect, relaxed environment for you and your dog stay here!

This was our first time here and we all loved it. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor with quick access to the porch. The room was large and comfortable. We had a small fridge and private bathroom. The breakfasts Dave cooked were delicious as was the coffee (or tea). Lovely gardens with gazebo. Excellent location for walks to essential restaurants, cafe’s - even a CVS. We walked our dog up to the Cove section of the beach every morning. Higbee beach (dog friendly) and Sunset beach were a short drive away - as were wineries and breweries. There’s a sweet little park up the street and plenty of shady residential streets to walk your pup also. The porch is very comfortable and a great area to hang for tea or wine and snacks. The weather lace a quintessential Capeay vibe and was reminiscent of B&B’s we experienced in Galway Ireland.

We've stayed here twice a year for maybe seven or eight years, except for that one Spring during which Gov. Murphy put a moratorium on short term rentals two days before we were supposed to arrive. Dave is such a fantastic host. and so are Jenny, Stephanie, and Donna. I would not stay anywhere else.
