The Mason Cottage Bed & Breakfast is located in the downtown, historic district of Cape May, New Jersey, only one block to the beach. The inn, built in 1871, is endowed with lofty ceilings, full-length windows and a sweeping veranda, all so characteristic of Victorian homes of the period. While the inn maintains its authentic, historic charm, guests will love the updated amenities throughout.

Our stay at the Mason Cottage was easily one of the best experiences I’ve had in Cape May. The room we booked was very comfortable, and the owners were extremely friendly and willing to go out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect for their guests. There was a beautiful common area that was available to use at any time, and both breakfasts we had the pleasure of attending in the dining room were absolutely delicious. Furthermore, the location was within a three minute walk from the beach as well as the nearby shops and restaurants on Washington Street. I fully intend on returning, and would highly recommend the Mason Cottage to anyone else looking to stay in the area.

My wife and I snuck away for a Valentine's Day and (her) Birthday weekend and were fortunate enough to snag the last room available at The Mason Cottage B&B Inn. From check-in through check-out, we were treated to a 5-star experience.

Upgrading to the "Anytime Romance Package", our room was filled with beautiful flowers, Champagne on ice and delicious chocolate covered strawberries. In addition to these treats, each afternoon we had tasty drinks and snacks waiting for us and each morning a scrumptious 2 course breakfast!

Even though we stayed in the Columbia Room on the 1st floor, our mornings and nights were comfortable and pretty darn quiet. The room was well appointed and stocked with everything needed for stay, including the SOFTEST robes ever!

Thanks again Kim and team for a lovely, romantic and memorable weekend stay!

Had the pleasure of staying at this fabulous property in Cape May, NJ. The pictures we saw prior to our arrival did not do it justice. It turned out to be a warm, charming, and incredibly beautiful B&B. We lucked out and the weather turned out to be lovely for December so we could sit out on the expansive porch, to read our books or just converse with other guests. The rooms we stayed in were comfortable and were filled with every necessity you would expect from a top tier B&B.
The house manager could not have been more lovely; not to mention an awesome cook. Our breakfasts were magical feasts prepared with such thoughtful culinary skill and passion.
If you are in search for a B&B that has both charm and comfort look no further than Mason Cottage

The place was lovely. We stayed in the 2nd floor Davis Suite which had a separate area for viewing TV with a small refrigerator. Two cushioned chairs that really needed additional cushions or pillows bc of the depth of the chairs. Bathroom had a great Jacuzzi. Loved this! The broken outlet was repaired immediately when brought to the owner's attention.
Bedroom was fine. There was 1 air conditioner here and one in by the TV. Enough space to layout your suitcases, and walk around the room.
Food Service comments: Breakfast was a 1st and 2nd course. Portions were sparse. Bananas and yogurt every day for 1st course with some berries. Should have had another kind of fruit or something different on day 2. One morning, we got an oatmeal bake which was tasteless. They did make my husband scrambled eggs when he complained. We expected French toast, waffles, pancakes, or something we would not make for ourselves at home. The muffins available were packaged, store bought! Really, should be homemade especially when you have a cook on the premises. As tea drinkers, we should have been offered a pot of tea but we had to make the tea ourselves. Also, we felt that there was an overall lack of attention in the wait service. The afternoon snack was also sparse. We were given two quarter-sized pastry shells with a crumb of blue cheese and diced piece of fruit, a thin wedge of watermelon and a few grapes. It wasn’t worth returning to the inn at 3 pm to have this.
Limited on-street parking. Baptist church across the way charges by the day.

We looked forward to our stay but based on past experience we expect more in terms of food and service at a bed and breakfast.

“Theresa, thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your room, it is one of our more popular suites. Also, we noticed you and your husband enjoying our many other amenities on the premise such as the bikes, beach chairs, beach towels, the outdoor shower and rocking in the chairs on our expansive veranda. However, I'm a bit surprised about your comments on the food. First, we never serve the same first course back to back. When I plan the menu, I carefully choose the first and second courses to balance well with each other in order to avoid a heavy breakfast (especially in the summer time). Example, your first breakfast with us, we served fresh berries with a honey-lime dressing, the second course was Eggs Benedict Strata served with asparagus and orange slice. The second day's breakfast, while others devoured their dishes, we did accommodate Tom because he didn't like oatmeal. Theresa, when you were making your reservation, I answered your questions in detail how we are handling COVID procedures. I made points in how we have to do our Refreshment Hour snacks; placing them in To-Go containers. I make the snacks daily, enough for two, such as authentic hummus with fresh cut veggies, or savory tartlets with baked blue-cheese, or my home-made cheesecakes and cookies. Jeff is the man who makes the beverages from home-made lemonade to brews herbal teas for iced teas. We put a lot into making each guest feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable; it is why we have so many returning guests. Perhaps you may reconsider and re-visit us. All our best, Amy and Jeff, Innkeepers”

had a wonderful visit at the mason cottage this past week! my wife and I stayed in the Grand mason suite and it was so spacious and clean! the innkeepers, Amy and Jeff, are some of the friendliest people we have ever met. they are very accommodating and are able to make special breakfast for anyone with dietary restrictions, like myself. Amy's breakfasts are incredible! my wife was able to eat the breakfast that was on the menu, which was this amazing baked peach French toast, and since I cant eat gluten she made me an amazing egg sandwich on gluten free bread with an avocado spread!

one last thing that I feel I should mention...
we visited during the Covid pandemic and we felt very safe here. They were constantly cleaning and sanitizing everything!

What a beautiful place. This is an historical Victorian style B and B with en suite jacuzzis in some rooms. The suite we stayed in had an ample sleeping area with a queen bed and a sitting room that four of us comfortably watched TV in. The bathroom was superbly clean, and while small, had plenty of storage, a shower, sink and jacuzzi. It was supplied with heavenly smelling soaps and such.
Ro and Eric, the proprietors were attentive and helpful.
Breakfast included 2 freshly made courses, very good coffee and two juices as well as tea and hot chocolate.
Afternoon snacks were healthy and set out in the dining room.

We had a great time in the middle of the winter and couldn’t be happier with the decor, the breakfasts and the people. Modern where it should be and historical where it should be. We will return.

Quarantine had kept me and my gf semi-local for our anniversary so I was trying to find something exciting and practical that we haven’t done before. I found the mason cottage inn and thought it would be a perfect fit and we’ve both never traveled to Cape May. We had a great time and the grand mason suite was nothing less than perfect spacious and comfortable to relax. It is just a block directly across from the beach and from town so it was so convenient. Amy and Jeff are great people and were welcoming from the moment we walked in. The breakfast they make is delicious and those chocolate covered strawberries were the best. They were there to assist with any questions you had. Hoping to go back during Christmas time for another fun trip! 10/10 recommend to anyone who is looking for a vacation spot.

Excellent place to enjoy Cape May. This 150 year old grand Victorian home has the ambiance of old Cape May, combined with modern services provided by the fine innkeepers, Eric and Rochelle. The breakfasts Rochelle prepares are delicious and varied day after day, and Eric's friendly conversation, as he served them each morning, made out stay all the more pleasurable and welcoming. A gem, for sure!

Mason Cottage is such a lovely place! We had been to Cape May for day visits but never stayed. I have to start by saying that Ro and Eric (and Brady) are the genuine article. Just nice people and wonderful hosts. I have stayed in many places and these guys are top notch. They are welcoming and gracious and they pay attention to every detail while still being friendly and relaxed. I don't know how they do it! The food is wonderful! Ro is an amazing cook. I learned that it is very important to state your dietary needs. They actually want to know. The place is beautiful. Each room is so unique with its own special character and vibe. We stayed in the Franklin Suite. It worked out perfectly for us. Just enough space to be together or have some time to myself. The beds are comfortable the rooms are clean. Eric takes the time to explain the ins and outs of the stay and where everything is when you arrive. Park the car and walk to everything. The beach is a block away. We were there in February and enjoyed long walks on the beach, strolls through the town, great food, chocolate and of course that magical, east coast sunset over the bay. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you so much!

Hands down the best B&B experience ever! I tend to like to keep to myself and feel uncomfortable being in someone else's space but here, they make you feel so welcome, like you are family. I knew from visiting the area that the location can't be beat so close to the ocean, heart of the town, restaurants, shops, coffee spots, and bars, but what I didn't know is how incredible the Inn Keepers would be! Funny, warm, easy going, and helpful! Eric helped check us in and had us grabbing our side we were laughing so hard! He told us about everything we wanted to know about and more! Rox made us the most amazing deconstructed french toast and eggs! So dang good! This young couple keeps you entertained, comfortable, satiated, and happy, they truly brought out the sunshine in our day despite having rain in the forecast. What an experience, we will definitely be back!

Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, breakfast is included; it is a 2-course sit down served breakfast. First course is fruit related and the second course is a sweet dish or it could be a savory dish. Thank you, Amy and Jeff, Innkeeper

Hi. Thank you for your interest in the Mason Cottage. The two rooms you are thinking of are great rooms. The Columbia is on the first floor and right across from the dinning room. There is an exit door outside your room however, most of the time we have the door locked. The main entrance is away from the Columbia room. Most guest who stay in Columbia find it to be quiet. The Madison room is on the second floor, first door on the left. Other guests staying on the second floor or third floor . have to walk past the Madison room. However, the bed is not up against the wall in the hall. I hope this helps. Check out our website and take a virtual tour. Sincerely, Amy and Jeff, Innkeepers

Hi Sherry, Yes, we can certainly accommodate a Gluten Free diet at the inn. Advance notice is always best, but we do go over diet restrictions upon check in.
