First time staying at the Boarding House and will not be our last! We visited over 4th of July weekend where the hotel was at max capacity. The staff was friendly and always helpful. They welcomed our dog with cookies in the lobby every time she visited!

The entire property - from the outside, to lobby and to our room was spotless & clean. The staff has definitely taken extra precautions for enhanced cleanings during COVID to make guests feel at ease.

Our King Suite had one of the comfiest beds we have ever slept in, and was the perfect size for my husband and I, plus our dog.

Even during 4th of July weekend where the hotel was at max capacity, we never had an issue getting a parking spot any time of day.

The hotel is practically across the street from the Cape May Dog Park and is very close for either walking or driving to any activities during your stay.

There is fresh coffee and fruit in the lobby every morning, and a free happy hour from 5-6pm every day in the lobby. Very nice touch!

Thank you to the Boarding House team for a wonderful weekend. We will see you again!

We stayed at the Boarding House for 4 nights at the end of July. We don't have a dog. There were just 2 of us in a king room.

I loved the code access. There's no worrying about keys/cards to lose. The folks at the front desk were incredibly helpful and kind. Very welcoming. The location is next to a nice large park and was a 5 minute walk to the the shopping/dining area on Washington street and a 15 minute walk to the beach. We like to walk so this was no problem at all.

The rooms are somewhat small, but laid out very thoughtfully with a microwave and a small fridge. Neat surfer chic decor! Loved the retro styling of the microwave and fridge! The bed is a little on the soft side for me, but that may just be me being used to a hard mattress. The property is a renovated hotel that does not have individual balconies, but there is a great rooftop deck that you can hang out on and enjoy cocktails or food.

Parking is tight but there are enough spots for all the rooms and there is plenty of parking on the adjacent road which is not metered.

The recent addition of bikes which are free to sign out was a bonus. Nice, aluminum bikes which we used to ride to the lighthouse one day.

One issue is there is not 24 hr ice availability. The ice was only accessible 9-5 when someone was in the office. Maybe tuck an ice machine in where the outdoor shower is?

Overall, a very nice stay in a neat place, good location, run by very helpful people.

Dear Kippster84, Thank you for your kinds words and review of our property. We are very pleased that you were able to enjoy our amenities such as the bicycles and happy hour drinks on the rooftop, as well as our proximity to the Washington Street Mall and the beach. We have to agree with you, the retro fridge and microwave are two of our favorite items in the rooms! We also completely understand about the ice machine's location and and our team has already been looking into some alternate options to it being housed in the lobby. Stay tuned, we should have a good update for you come next season!

We stayed at the Boarding House during the first full weekend in which they were allowed to resume short-term rentals. My husband and I had COVID-related reservations about traveling with our toddler, but decided to take our chances and keep our plans, and we are so glad we did. The Boarding House staff did a wonderful job addressing our concerns; our room and amenities were very clean, and all of our interactions were extremely safe and pleasant (even when we were all behind masks!). The Boarding House's location was also great as we were within walking distance of the beach and the mall, but far enough away that we could walk the neighborhood to maintain distance from the crowds. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and look forward to a future stay at the Boarding House during our next visit!

My husband, newborn and pup stayed at The Boarding House for a week last month and it was nothing short of amazing. Not only is the staff warm, friendly and thoughtful, but the property was immaculate and we felt extremely safe with all of the precautions due to COVID. Our room felt like it was out of a magazine/Pinterest board: no detail was left unnoticed between the local art displayed on the walls to the modern, surfer-chic bathroom and bedroom decor. It was so hard to leave because they did such an incredible job of making us feel right at home. To top it off, the sweet owner surprised my husband with locally made cupcakes for his birthday on our last night there. It was the week long getaway that we bother knew that we needed, but had no idea it would be such a vacation to remember thanks to The Boarding House. We’re booking a week next year as well, and already looking forward to it. Do yourself a favor and stay here, you won’t regret it! :)

I was looking for a few days away with my two teenagers and our 5 month old puppy. I randomly called the Boarding House because of their pet-friendly policy and from the moment Katie answered my call I knew we had found the right place. The staff was amazingly kind and accommodating, the room was clean and comfortable, and they went out of their way to make us (and the pup) feel welcome. It's clear the staff at the Boarding House really care about you and sincerely want you to enjoy your stay. We also loved that they support local businesses, everything from the art in the room to the soaps and the cookies are from Cape May businesses! Plus, their COVID policies were well-executed and made us feel safe without feeling stressed

It was our 1st time to stay away from the boardwalk and this hotel is beautiful and very clean. Fairly new hotel so everything looks so new. We have a puppy who was happy to stay at this hotel too. Our puppy is hypoallergenic and we did not smell any other pet mark inside our room. It exceeded our expectations with its cleanliness, easy check-in and check-out and great service! Janine was very helpful with all our questions. Location was very close by to Cape May boardwalk. Anf there are other beaches within 5 to minute-drive. Will definitely come back!

For a family of 4 that usually frequents much larger establishments, we loved the intimate, clean and very fresh vibe of this place. The front desk staff was so friendly, helpful and genuinely accommodating. The room was immaculate, beds were comfy. Enjoyed the rooftop deck, bistro tables outside the rooms, cheerful happy hour each night, walking distance to everything in town, ample street parking for our 2nd car and great to have a reserved spot right onsite. Highly
recommend Boarding House for a pleasant escape!

Stayed here with my fiancé and the pup for two nights. Katie at the front desk was amazing. Super helpful with providing us a list of dog friendly restaurants and they also provided cape May beer once a day. What a perk! Rooms were clean and smelled better than other hotels I’ve stayed in that don’t allow dogs. I love how they write the dogs names on the lobby chalkboard and had a dog treat waiting.. it made us feel welcomed and sometimes you don’t get that when you have a dog. We brought our Wi-Fi camera to watch the pup when we couldn’t bring her out, but she was fine and they also provide a door sign that says dog in room so the cleaning people don’t enter. Felt very safe - parking was super tight but overall worth it for the secludedness of the hotel.

Stayed over a long weekend in September and had a great experience, will definitely be returning in the future! Front desk folks were so helpful and accommodating, and they even offered to watch our pup when we thought he was going to have some separation anxiety (he wound up settling in just fine, we brought our furbo with us and he just slept on the bed waiting for us to get back), but incredibly sweet that they offered.

Room was clean, modern bathroom, fridge/freezer/microwave and everything else you’d need right there. Coffee and fruit every morning in the lobby, a local roaster makes a special blend for the Boarding House and we were big fans! There’s a nightly happy hour with local craft beers/wine that you can take back to your room or enjoy on the rooftop deck. Directly across from the local dog park so easy options for taking your dog out for some exercise and plenty of friendly dogs nearby. Short walk into town, about 10mins to the Washington St Mall in Cape May.

We absolutely loved the Boarding House, glad we finally made it, and even during the pandemic they were still incredibly accommodating. Cant wait to stay here again!

For a hotel of its type it is a solid 5 stars. If you expect a Ritz Carlton, you may be disappointed, but you certainly won’t feel more welcomed or at home anywhere else!! Absolutely loved it. The rooms are so well themed and they have thought of everything . . . I mean everything! Clean, bright rooms, extraordinary attention to details: lots of towels, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, unique inclusion of local products, cozy blankets for napping, pour over coffee carafes, super comfy chair and ottoman, fresh coffee in the lobby all day, wine and beer from 4-5 pm daily, upper deck with fabulous breezes AND an agreement with the Montreal Resort that provides guests of the BH with two lounge chairs, two beach towel and an umbrella set up on the beach for you. Plus the hotel provides its guests with the requisite beach tags. But the best part? The staff! I just wanted to hang out with them!!! Janine and Katie are the best!!! Love, love, love this place. So convenient to walk to the shops and restaurants and even the beach. The Montreal is a bit farther, but also still walkable. The hotel is a totally renovated old motel, but the only hint of that is the bathroom area simply because of the old style windows. The bathrooms are so cute with the really fun tiled showers, great sink and toilet. Plenty of room for your stuff! This gem only has 11 rooms so book early!!!

Dear Lizardbeth61, Thank you so much for your kind words, I will be sure to share them with Janine! We are very proud of the Boarding House and truly appreciate that you appreciate her special qualities. Our local partners are like family and it is important to us that we support and promote each other, plus when the products are amazing it is not that hard to do! It is always our hope that guests will find what they need at the Boarding house whether it is a quiet respite to rest and relax or a homebase for a jam packed weekend filled with tours and activities. We have to agree that having access to the Montreal Beach Club is great, especially not having to carry the chairs and umbrella, and set them up! The beach club team always does a super job! Thank you again for your kind words and we can't wait to welcome you back again soon!
