Many travelers enjoy the modern, beach-inspired ambiance of the rooms and the relaxing oceanfront vibe. Quite possibly the friendliest staff I have ever encountered, from the gentleman in the parking "garage" and reception staff, to the cleaners, professional and courteous all around. The hotel was spotless, modern (great bathroom) and well maintained. The location was perfect, beach access was right across the street; no need to lug your beach gear a few blocks to get on the beach. Icona will also provide beach chairs for you if you like! We liked it so much that we added an additional day! You can't go wrong @ Icona!

Desk staff was great, suite was beautiful and clean. Room had a beautiful view of the beach and and sat on the balcony for hours. Rooms were well equipped with a supply of dishes and they even had wine glasses. I will definitely return for another visit.

My son and I stood here for two nights and had a fantastic time! The location was perfect, directly across from the beach. Our room was spotless and absolutely beautiful. Beach tags and chairs are included and they will bring your chairs to the beach for you! Parking was free, covered spots right at the hotel. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful. Check in was a breeze and our room was ready right at 3pm. Hand sanitizing stations were on every floor when you exit the elevator and signs to remind everyone to practice social distancing and stay six feet apart and wear a mask were around common areas. I cannot wait to return to Cape May and I will absolutely be staying at Icona again!!

This is a nice hotel a few blocks off the beaten path in Cape May on the Beach Road. The first impression we had was at the front desk when 2 men were checking into their room which was situated directly across from the front desk. They seemed a bit disappointed by the location of their room. The manager responded by saying, “Well, that is what you get for booking last minute.” The gentleman responded very politely, “We booked a month ago...is that considered last minute?” The rooms at the Icona are big and beautifully decorated. We booked a king room with balcony. To our disappointment our balcony was divided into two (sharing it with another room) leaving only room for one chair or one person on the balcony. I spoke to the manager about it and he said I should have requested a full balcony if I wanted one. I told him the website does not mention that a few of the rooms have a smaller balconies than others. He said the virtual tour shows the smaller balcony. I corrected him by saying it shows the door to the balcony and the view from it, but not the size of the balcony itself. He acknowledged that I was correct but he noted that our room was larger than the room with a full balcony. I responded by saying, “If I had the choice, I would have preferred the regular size room with the balcony for two, since it was just me and my husband and I am paying for a balcony.” They pride themselves as being a luxury boutique hotel. The pool is very small and sits directly street level, parallel to the street. Cars going by just steps always from you. They do not have a restaurant onsite. They also do not offer concierge service. It would be nice for the price you are paying per night for the Icona, to have that amenity. They do have great beach chairs for use and the staff will bring them to the beach for you if want. They also have a shuttle to take you to their other properties that do have onsite restaurants. But we felt that we were there to enjoy Cape May, not the other towns. I have to say that I would not stay there again. I feel the price is too high for what they offer. No onsite restaurant, pool basically on the street, and a one person balcony.

I've driven by the hotel before staying there, and have also been to the Avalon property, which is well decorated and clean; therefore my expectations were met by the friendly staff, especially Joanne, and clean room. The hotel has a shuttle driver, very friendly, introduced himself to me and explained that he would drop me off or pick me up if we needed.

The hotel is located across the street from the beach and The Grand, which has Hemingway's there for a drink or breakfast the next morning.

We had a room on the opposite side of the ocean, which faced a quiet neighborhood. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There was a refrigerator in the room as well as a storage area with glass cabinet doors displaying the ice bucket and drink-ware.

The shower took a little while to heat up, but we were in no hurry, so no big deal.

All in all, great time, would recommend to friends and family.

I stayed one night on July 2nd and paid $538 for a side balcony room. The room is pretty small - not much to it. One king bed, one chair (no desk) and then a small kitchenette area (with no sink). The TV is a flat screen but very small. The bathroom was not so big either - not much room at all to place things (no shelf, countertop only small area around the small sink.). The balcony faces directly at another side of a hotel where people lay towels out to dry - you can practically see in their rooms. Look to the left and you do see the beach/ocean. Granted we did not get the ocean front (which cost a lot more) but I am not sure how anywhere in Cape May can actually be called an ocean front room when the beach is across the street and the ocean is hundreds of feet away. There is no restaurant or bar or anything in the hotel. The pool is the size of a large hot tub. Only ten people allowed in pool area at a time. Smallest pool I have even see in a hotel by a mile. With all of this I would say $538 (includes all taxes/fees) is pretty steep. The staff makes this place. They do everything they could to make your stay special. Trish at front desk was great as was every person I encountered there. They do give you a complimentary beach tag along with real nice beach chairs (which they carry to the beach for you). To be fair I have never been to Cape May before so perhaps I should be grading on a curve, but for this kind of money , excellent staff aside the hotel offers very little.

My Hubs and I stayed at the Icona to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was exactly our vibe...upscale luxury. We loved the bright, airy modern rooms, gorg bathroom with a huge shower, and counter with coffee, frig, and microwave. The king bed was super comfy, too. The room even had silverware, a wine opener, and wine glasses. The service was first class and we took full advantage of the free shuttle service. We loved the beach view location, which was within walking distance to everything. It was very safe and everyone (staff and guests) wore masks on the property. They also had hand sanitizers everywhere. We will be back.

I love Icona, it’s always a 5/5 for me. The front desk attendant Chet was so friendly upon our arrival. The complimentary shuttle was very convenient and the driver Al was super friendly making sure his schedule was aligned with ours. The room was perfect with a beautiful ocean view. It was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we could have needed — from fresh linens and towels down to little details of hand sanitizers and chapsticks. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a shore escape. Definitely going to plan a summer trip here as well!

The Icona Cape May was clean and beautiful, included convenient free parking options and even a pool…all just steps away from Cape May’s beaches in the heart of town. The clean comfortable room came equipped with a little kitchenette, including some basic dishware, which was very handy as well as a balcony. Every employee I came in contact with was extremely friendly, accommodating and super helpful…especially the shuttle drivers! They will take you most anywhere you want to go in town with a smile and some helpful tourist tips — they even will drive you to their sister property in Wildwood that has a resort style beach bar restaurant and lounge! My family had the best time at the Icona and will most certainly be back!

If you’re looking for an amazing place to stay while in Cape May, look no further! This spectacular boutique hotel is the perfect choice. Let’s start with the welcome committee when you pull into their private parking area. Their warm and friendly staff can’t do enough to get you started on your well deserved vacation from assistance with parking, valet service, directions and restaurant recommendations. Checkin was flawless and the room ready ahead of time. The room was outstanding. It was super clean and well appointed. The room includes superior bedding, Icona robes to wear while visiting, microwave, refrigerator, safe, private outdoor balcony, immaculate and well stocked bathroom area, cable tv, and amazing AC temperature control. I would give this room 10 stars 🎉. The private balcony was cozy and overlooked the beach. Free coffee in lobby every morn8 g at 7 AM. Housekeeping was excellent. The Icona is located on Beach avenue and right across from the beach. Do yourself a favor and take in all the sights of this historic beach town, first one in the US. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and don’t forget to check out the Victorian BB in the area, absolutely breathtaking scenery.

Icona offers free beach tags, free use of beach chairs, and shuttle services to downtown Cape May🎠There is also a pool located at the hotel with free use of towels throughout your stay 🏖. I can’t say enough about this Hawaiian themed hotel located in Cape May. I can’t wait to come back in the Fall. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I know they supply chairs, but I'm not sure about the umbrellas. We didn't need one, so we did not ask. They will take them too and from the beach for you, if you need.
