This was the third time we stayed at the Belvidere Hotel. The hotel was initially selected because of its proximity to my wife’s family in northwestern NJ. There other options in PA but this place is a gem. Very clean place and spacious rooms. We always get a room with a king bed but there other options including suites that sleep more guests. The rooms are decorated with furniture and art that is typical of bed and breakfast places if that is important to you. Clean is most important to us. There is a morning continental breakfast offered with bagels, cakes, waffles, yogurt and cereals both hot and cold. There are breakfast options close by for eggs and pancakes if that is what you prefer. The parking lot is a nice size and accommodates all guests. There is on street parking also. The parking lot is beside the police station providing additional security. The innkeeper is friendly and informative. Belvidere has some nice shops which we visited on Small Business Saturday. I would recommend this place over any of the shady places in the Stroudsburg area. Easton is a bit of a drive for our needs. Hacketstown NJ has no options. Try it. Reasonable prices too.…
A beautifully kept historic establishment. Clean, basic, but charming and inviting. Bathrooms are beautiful and linens luxurious. Interesting antiques in nooks and crannies throughout hotel. Attentive and lovely hospitality shown by owner Sidney! I guarantee a comfortable stay in a well designed historic setting.
We needed a last minute place to stay in Belvidere. We were planning to stay with my sister, but had some possible COVID concerns so we had a few hours to find someplace else. Sidney was very helpful and booked us a great room on the 2nd floor. The hotel is charming and filled with beautiful antique furniture. Our room was very nice and the bathroom/ shower was excellent. Breakfast was simple but Sidney came in and told us the history of the place which we enjoyed. There is lots of parking. Only caution is if you have mobility issues there are only 2 rooms on the ground level, otherwise expect to haul your luggage up some pretty steep stairs.
We stayed at the hotel over the Thanksgiving holiday. We tried the Belvidere Hotel just because the options are limited in the area. We went in cold with little information about the place other than it was an old hotel in the town of Belvidere, NJ. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. The owner was accommodating and let us check in early. The room was VERY clean and furnished with an eclectic mix of pieces. The hotel had the feel of a classic hotel which we liked. The continental breakfast had plenty of choices and was served in a nice dining area. We had an interesting discussion with the owner during breakfast one morning and he gave us a history of the hotel. The owner has been maligned in other reviews but I am certain those situations dictated the content of the reviews and there are two sides to every story. I found him cordial and interesting. Our only negative was that we could not control the temperature in the room. We adjusted. We will return to the hotel because it was clean, convenient and a good value.…
This is an extremely clean, charming, and very comfortable hotel. It’s always hard to find a clean hotel with some character at a reasonable price in this area of NJ and the Poconos. If you don’t pay for a very expensive resort or b&b then you end up with a subpar not so clean chain hotel. Belvidere hotel is warm and inviting from the minute you walk in. The charming owners, Sydney and Elma, take pride in their hotel and it shows. Our king room was very clean and well appointed. Bed and pillows were warm and comfortable. Bathroom was also clean with good shower pressure and plenty of towels. Breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room was a plentiful continental breakfast. All for a great and very reasonable price! I would stay here again over a chain hotel in a heartbeat.
Our stay was great. Super clean room & hotel. The owner Sydney went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Light breakfast and coffee is offered. Hotel is in great location. Will go back!!
We stopped to find lodging near Alpha NJ, after an impulsive leaf-watching drive along the Delaware River. We discovered the Belvidere Hotel online, after an extensive search for ANY available motel or hotel in the Phillipsburg/Easton area. The few alternatives were overpriced or had horrifyingly bad reviews. The Belvidere was the best value going, so we took our chances. We were happily impressed when we arrived. This old hotel has been completely restored and thoughtfully decorated. The room was clean and comfortable (especially the bed) with modern amenities. And the owner, who checked us in, was a gracious host. Continental breakfast offered a variety of cereals, pastries, and waffles, with hard boiled eggs and juices in a mini-fridge. The town is quiet and charming, although occasional events will draw a crowd. I look forward to returning to the Belvidere next time we need to get away.…
From reviews read, we were expecting a hotel that had been restored to the era it was built, but it's a mixture of this and that. Our room had a picture of a Paris-like cafe. Room extremely small - perhaps 10x10. Bath also small, limited toiletries (shampoo, soap), stained towels/wash cloths and ladies, no counter space except for a 3"x12" shelf. No thermostat in room to control temp and bright lights from wrap around porch made sleeping difficult since we are light sensitive - no drapery on windows just vertical slats. Small bed - not a queen size as I was told when making reservation and mattress definitely needs replacing. Definitely overpriced for area and amenities. Not sure where the "vacation spot of the northeast" comes into play. Belvidere although kind of charming really doesn't have much to offer. Uncle Buck's diner is decent food for breakfast/lunch and inexpensive.…
We needed a place to stay for a funeral service for a relative and did not want to drive into a nearby city, so we chose this small Hotel. What a wonderful place it was! Spotlessly clean. The owners were very personable, and came and talked with us while we were eating breakfast. The continental breakfast was more than adequate to start our day. I would definitely stay at this facility anytime We are in the area.
The hotel is a beautiful 1830 restored old town feel. All it needed was a saloon with gambling. Very quaint and the room was very nice and comfortable. They also have a small selection of wines and champagne The continental breakfast was good. I especially enjoyed their hard boiled eggs. Hit the spot. The manager was great and quite helpful If I had to say one negative. The pice!!! 146.00 bucks for an overnight stay. ????? I am from NYC and can stay at the Marriott Marqui in Times Square for the same amount.
