We stopped to find lodging near Alpha NJ, after an impulsive leaf-watching drive along the Delaware River. We discovered the Belvidere Hotel online, after an extensive search for ANY available motel or hotel in the Phillipsburg/Easton area. The few alternatives were overpriced or had horrifyingly bad reviews. The Belvidere was the best value going, so we took our chances. We were happily impressed when we arrived. This old hotel has been completely restored and thoughtfully decorated. The room was clean and comfortable (especially the bed) with modern amenities. And the owner, who checked us in, was a gracious host. Continental breakfast offered a variety of cereals, pastries, and waffles, with hard boiled eggs and juices in a mini-fridge. The town is quiet and charming, although occasional events will draw a crowd. I look forward to returning to the Belvidere next time we need to get away.…
From reviews read, we were expecting a hotel that had been restored to the era it was built, but it's a mixture of this and that. Our room had a picture of a Paris-like cafe. Room extremely small - perhaps 10x10. Bath also small, limited toiletries (shampoo, soap), stained towels/wash cloths and ladies, no counter space except for a 3"x12" shelf. No thermostat in room to control temp and bright lights from wrap around porch made sleeping difficult since we are light sensitive - no drapery on windows just vertical slats. Small bed - not a queen size as I was told when making reservation and mattress definitely needs replacing. Definitely overpriced for area and amenities. Not sure where the "vacation spot of the northeast" comes into play. Belvidere although kind of charming really doesn't have much to offer. Uncle Buck's diner is decent food for breakfast/lunch and inexpensive.…
We needed a place to stay for a funeral service for a relative and did not want to drive into a nearby city, so we chose this small Hotel. What a wonderful place it was! Spotlessly clean. The owners were very personable, and came and talked with us while we were eating breakfast. The continental breakfast was more than adequate to start our day. I would definitely stay at this facility anytime We are in the area.
The hotel is a beautiful 1830 restored old town feel. All it needed was a saloon with gambling. Very quaint and the room was very nice and comfortable. They also have a small selection of wines and champagne The continental breakfast was good. I especially enjoyed their hard boiled eggs. Hit the spot. The manager was great and quite helpful If I had to say one negative. The pice!!! 146.00 bucks for an overnight stay. ????? I am from NYC and can stay at the Marriott Marqui in Times Square for the same amount.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our king size bed was comfortable, although if you like soft pillows bring your own. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet. All the updates have been done tastefully and with comfort in mind. The owner, Sydney, was friendly and shared interesting stories about the area, etc. All usual amenities are provided, hair dryer, etc.. The Continental breakfast is OK. Central location for browsing around town. Easy parking in the hotels lot. But, if you need an elevator -- there are none.
