This is one of the best kept secrets on Long Beach Island. The owners and staff are kind and professional. The location is across the street from the beach access and within walking distance to all the fun Beach Haven has to offer. The Inn is clean, well appointed and has a relaxing vibe.
I rented room 4 at the Windward with another couple in room 5, we had our own private entrance on the side and the rooms were very clean and lovely! The family who owns the Windward is so sweet, and they were very accommodating. Cute little outside area, very close to beach and restaurants, nice little getaway. Thanks for having us!!!
This is the fifth time we have stayed at the Windward over the last three years! Every year gets better! The owner, his family and staff are wonderful to deal with, as well as incredibly accommodating. We had another great weekend, and look forward to many more in the future! Greg R.
Thank you to David & the entire staff of the newly renovated Windward At The Beach for hosting us (friends & family) for a fabulous four day beach vacay on LBI! So excited to have stumbled upon the "lucky" vacancy during my online search for a place to hang as close to the ocean as possible in my fave Beach Haven location, within an easy walking distance to EVERYTHING! We all were thrilled to park our cars once & then never need to move them again throughout our visit this past late August weekend. Situated just a stone's throw (literally steps) away from the Amber St. Beach, we lived like happy human pinballs! The adults in our group bopped between the live music at the oceanfront bars of the Seashell Hotel a block away & the sunset eat/drink locations of Bird & Betty's & Parker's Garage just a 7 minute walk across to the bay! My 17 yr old daughter & her boyfriend had a blast walking over to Fantasy Island & their fave food joints like Chegg & Bagel Shack along the way. Cannot imagine a better location to lay our heads every night, where evenings at the Inn were a quiet respite after enjoying our fun & lively nights out & about nearby. I remember the "old, tired" Windward Inn from growing up nearby in Beach Haven, back in the day, & was thrilled to see how David & his sweet wife had refreshed the design of the rooms & common areas inside & out. Light, airy, & a cool beachy vibe permeates the surroundings, even down to the playful vacancy sign hanging outside revealing "Lucky" or "Unlucky" to those strolling past to/from the beach. We stayed in Rm. 11, which even though on the 3rd floor, was an easy climb for our 50-something & teenage group of guests. It has two rooms with a total of three full size beds, bathroom w/shower, a round eating table, beverage fridge/freezer (big enough for all of our wine & canned drinks, cheeses, as well as dinner leftovers), & a microwave... which was a perfect set up for the needs of our crew. Oh, & each room has its own flat screen, cable connected TV mounted on the wall, so no fighting over late night viewing choices! If you want to stay in the historic area of Beach Haven, across the street from Veterans Park (Bicentennial Park), Surflight Summer Theatre, the Showplace... down the street & around the corner from some of the longtime staples (restaurants, bars,, shops) that make Beach Haven the "it" town of LBI... & ultimately live the dream of walking just a few steps each morning to witness the gorgeous sunrise over the ocean &/or stroll a few minutes further to marvel at the stellar sunsets for which LBI is famous... look no further than the wonderful Windward At The Beach! We should all be so "Lucky" to find such a treasured home away as this! Thank you, David, your fab fam, & staff! Until next time... Cheers, Fia (friends & fam) Fyi... This is this most misleading and misadvertised hotel in LBI. I've never been more scammed in my life. They take misleading pictures, use misleading description, to create impression of a charming boutique hotel. In reality, you get a room with windows that open to the hotel hallway!!! No fresh air for you. Ocean view peek means a tiny window where if you step on a chair you will have a peek of the ocean between the roofs of other buildings. Shower is not even 3ft x 3ft. If you are bigger than 5' 4" you are advised to shower in the outdoor shower. Old furniture, which looks like a collection of the abandoned on the street pieces are crammed into space too small for the advertised accommodation. You have no place to unpack, no room to relax unless you want to sit on your bed all the time.…
We recently spent five glorious days at Windward At The Beach - five of us (two combined families). Our suite (#1) was perfect and gave us private access to the amazing outdoor showers. Loved our early mornings on the porch, evenings on the patio. The location (1 block from the beach, across from Veterans Park) was perfection. David couldn’t have been more helpful and gracious. Will return for sure!
Came upon this place by luck while looking for a relatively last minute LBI reservation. Spoke to David, the owner, on the phone while booking who was extremely helpful. David and his team could also not have been more helpful with check-in and throughout our stay. The place is charming with an assortment of unique rooms. Rooms ranged for a small simple relatively standard queen room to a 2 room suite. The larger rooms are well appointed with fun art and were very comfortable. Added perks were the outdoor shower cabins in the back (used them several times per day), ice machine in lobby, outdoor gas grills with outdoor seating, bike rack, clothes lines for towel and bathing suite drying, and a nice indoor public space. Location was super. Immediately across the street from the beach and an easy walk to all shops and restaurants in town. We only got in the car once during our week stay to go to Harvey Cedar for dinner. David's personal touch was much appreciated and made our stay that much more enjoyable. Thanks for everything David!…
David and his wife, the owners, were so gracious. They couldn't be helpful enough, and we had a wonderful 6 days with our daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids there. The beach is so close, and they have beach chairs, beach toys for the kids, and great outdoor showers. I definitely recommend!!
My sons and I have been vacationing here for the last nine years. This place never disappoints. It’s in a great location, rooms are very clean, friendly staff and the new owners are very kind and accommodating. Great place to stay for families. Highly recommended. We look forward to staying here again.
We stayed over July 4th weekend and had a fantastic time. The location is amazing: my kids can walk to the beach by themselves and go get ice cream nearby at their leisure. Rooms are comfortable and freshly decorated with a colorful beach theme. We barbecued on the outdoor patio grill one of the nights and watched people walk their dogs and do goat goat at veterans park. Even listened to the musical Annie as we enjoyed our own food. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas to take the beach and enjoy the day. Amazing local restaurants are 5 min walk and amusement park and water park are 5 min drive. The owners are an amazing family. Thanks for making our stay so comfortable!
