The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa receives a mixed bag of feedback from its visitors. While the hotel's location is consistently lauded for its beautiful setting and scenic views, opinions on the rooms are divided; some guests find them spacious with stunning vistas, yet others deem them cramped and not worth the price. Cleanliness also varies, with several guests suggesting it could be enhanced.
Service experiences fluctuate, with commendations for friendly staff but criticisms of sluggish service. The amenities, including the farm and dining options, are generally appreciated, despite noted service inconsistencies. Though the atmosphere is often described as cozy and inviting, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned, with many travelers feeling the cost is too steep for the offered experience.

We stayed one of the nights of our New England tour at the Mountain View Grand Resort in Whitefield New Hampshire. The property was very pretty, and very well cared for, and we had a comfortable night there. The highlight there was the very nice breakfast—a buffet served in a nicer fashion than a typical hotel, with wait staff seating us, bringing us drinks, and making sure our needs were met. We were happy with our visit to this hotel, and the beautiful surroundings. It was also convenient to our drive the next day, on the Kancamagus Scenic Highway.

We had the privilege of spending Thanksgiving at this beautiful resort and had an amazing time. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious and the atmosphere in the Crystal Ballroom was amazing. They had ample selections to please all tastebuds, my picky eaters had full bellies! Added bonus, waking up to the hotel looking like a winter wonderland.
We booked a historical 2 queen room and it was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was enormous and it had a walk in closet. Since this hotel is 157 years old that walls are not that insulated so we could hear noises from time to time from the rooms around us. We were on the 1st floor but had partial mountain views out the window. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed and definitely gave the historical feeling which we loved. So many beautiful areas to relax, by the fire, in the lobby, in the broad game room. These all make you feel like you transported back in time.
We booked a bed & breakfast package and absolutely loved having breakfast every morning with the beautiful views definitely worth it for us. The food selection was plentiful and delicious.
There were so many activities on the resort we really only left to go to Santas Village for the day. They had axe throwing and hayrides which so need preregistration. Bingo, trivia, holiday movies in the pool was lots of fun. The farm was also a hit with our daughter. The separate activity center had tons of holiday crafts and fun things to do. While we were there they had their Grinch Jubilation which was honestly the highlight of our trip! So many families laughing and having a great time! The Andrew Silver circus was a huge hit with the kids. My daughter quickly made friends and loved every second of it! This was hands down the best thanksgiving we have ever had. Usually I am stressed out and feel like it’s more work than it’s worth. So glad we decided to sneak away this year. I have every intention of making this a family tradition for the foreseeable future.
From beginning to end everyone we encountered at the resort was lovely and kind. They treated us like royalty. We decided to make reservations for another trip for the summer before we left! Can’t wait to see what their summer offerings will be.
I definitely want to check out the spa next time it looks amazing!

I wasn't sure what to expect reading some of these reviews but my family and I really enjoyed the Mountain View. You could see the hotel from 5 miles away while driving in which was a bit of a wow factor, and the place was equally impressive when we pulled up. We were there during a freezing holiday weekend, but our room was nice and warm, quiet, and clean with amazing views of the mountains. My son loved the cinema, game room (pool table, ping pong, air hocket, foosball), indoor pool and tubing. You can rent cross country skies, snow shoes and ice skates on the property. They also have a large barn on the property with llamas, goats, chickens, rabbits and ducks which was enjoyable. While there were a lot of people there, the property was quite large and many times we were the only ones in the pool, game room and cinema. There was also a large room overlooking the mountains by the libary and lobby to play chess, chinese checkers and lots of other board games which was nic
The breakfest buffet at the hotel is excellant and we enjoyed our lunch and dinner there also. my wife didn't love her Meditarranean sword fish but everything else was great! We didn't get a chance to use the spa but it looked great also. There was nice framed artwork in all the hallways which was a nice touch, and well stocked gift shop selling cross-word puzzles, walking sticks, fudge, etc.
There were plenty of soap dispensiries around different areas, and the staff were all wearing masks.
We had a blast here and are looking forward to returning again. Based on reviews I was concerned that the room would be noisy, kids running around everywhere out of control, but that was not the case at all.

The location is fabulous, the views over their golf course and into the mountains with the colors changing is absolutely incredible. And while there are many other reasons to go here - and it's a beautiful hotel!, the location and views is really reason numbers 1-2-3! Because otherwise, the service is spotty depending upon who you talk to, the food was decent, but I couldn't believe the Grilled Mexican White Prawn Panzanella dinner dish. It sounded wonderful and was fairly low cost for this place - until I learned why! I love ciabatta and garlic - which conjures images of some form of ciabatta roll? These were crunchy croutons that could have been any bread at all; and there were only 4 mid sized shrimp! The rule at one point was 5 and they should be larger! I ate it, but very middling meal. They have a wonderful concept of a s'more campfire every evening if you want to buy a s'more, but you can't have a drink because it is across the street and that isn't allowed. Wow. Mirror Lake Inn has something similar and they give you a S'more, are less expensive larger rooms, and better staffed and trained. The room had a wonderful view, but was extremely small for the price! The veranda is also lovely and a bartender was very nice (and one wasn't so much). Their alpaca/llama/sheep farm was very nice and fun to visit and their hiking trails were nice. It has a wonderful reputation, but if you comparison shop for luxury stays, this is overpriced. Maybe they, like many, are having trouble hiring help and good help. Cindy at check in was very nice however. The dinner host was confused and struggled with english and lead to a many minute delay. Nice lady, just not well prepared.

We paid slightly over $600 for the room. When we arrived, there was no bellhop to help with luggage nor valet parking. The room we were given, was just off the lobby and looked like it was a former office turned into a new guest room. We paid for a king size bed when we were put into another room. It was a queen size and did not even have room for two people to sit. We went to go have dinner and they told us there were no reservations available and that we should’ve booked it days before.
Whether you pay $200 or $600 a night trust me this hotel is not worth it. There are many more in the area that are far more luxurious And hospitable and cater to those who can afford it.

The hotel website promotes their “awesome rooms and suites”…….. but you will have lug your own bags up to your room-suite and down again when you leave! On top all that there are 3, YES 3 baggage carts for all 141 rooms. And if you stay more than 3 days they will clean your room “ on request”. If you require fresh towels? Call between 9 a.m and 4 p.m.and housekeeping will bring to your room ( we waited 1 .5 hours then ask the maid in the hall).
Staff is very friendly and helpful; just limited in #.
I just don’t get the level of nighty room pricing with the level of reduced services for a “upscale” establishment. A year removed from pandemic level era service levels.

Place is not what it used to be sadly. Food options are limited and if you have kids, it’s a real challenge. Outdoor pool was cloudy and no options for outdoor eating, the building that once offered this is empty. No complementary pot coffee. You can’t order food from bar inside if you have kids and the only restaurant was an hour wait. Staff at front desk were cold. Rooms are clean but very small. Housekeeping didn’t come so by 4pm we just asked maid for extra towels. Spa and golf were great.

We stayed here for seven nights, along with three other family units for an extended family reunion of sorts. So, there were sixteen of us total.
My family of five had two adjoining rooms which was the perfect setup for us. The rooms were reasonably priced, very clean, as were the bathrooms. Daily housekeeping was thorough and prompt, like all hotels used to be prior to Covid times. It was really nice to come back to a tidied room each day.
Every single staff member we encountered from housekeeping to recreation staff to front desk to restaurant was friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
We spent a lot of time enjoying the resort's amenities. The farm was so much fun to visit each day! The workers were very knowledgeable about the animals and so kind to visitors. We enjoyed family BINGO, trivia, ax throwing, bocce ball, and disc golf. The indoor pool was nice and bright with windows all around, and clean. The game rooms were lots of fun too for our kids to enjoy time with their cousins. The expansive front porch was also a favorite for catching up and enjoying a drink looking at the beautiful mountains.
Breakfast was delicious, but expensive, so we didn't partake every day. Same with lunch and dinner. For other meals, we ventured to nearby Littleton and Lancaster. When we ate at Mountain View, we enjoyed all of the food very much and the waitstaff was really warm and friendly—also extremely accommodating to our large group which we so appreciated.
We weren't familiar with the resort's rich history prior to our stay, but enjoyed the film that was shown in the theater and learned a lot. This place was the place to be in the first half of the 20th century—the history of it is really interesting! After falling into disrepair, we are so happy that it has been rehabilitated. Even though it definitely has changed since way back when, it is still a beautiful historic property with so much to offer guests looking for a relaxing, fun week spent together.
We would recommend this resort to others looking for a get-away in a beautiful setting and would love to visit again in the future.

We just returned from a family weekend with my husband and our two kids (6 and 3). To make it quick - here are the pros and cons.
Pros: - the views. Seriously the most beautiful view I have ever seen. Peak foliage and clear skies helped. -lots to do - hiking trail, playground, farm, pools etc. - food was good. We ate at the bar restaurant both nights and ordered pizza and salad. The pizza was really good. Caesar salad was also great. -beds were comfortable!! Nice pillows mattress. - the indoor pool was lovely. Clean, warm, beautiful views from the windows.
Cons: - the restaurant and bar staff are not that friendly, I think they are pretty under staffed so that’s a part of it but attitudes can be MUCH better - the rooms were tiny and dated. I get it it’s a historic hotel. But a historic hotel can be updated to not have massively old rugs and stained walls, windows and closets. Esp for the price you are paying. - they pretend you can change the heat / air but you can’t. You’ll sweat or freeze and won’t be able to tell which one! - the coffee bar in the shop is terrible. They could seriously up the coffee game here or turn the bar into a morning coffee / espresso with REAL coffee. Parents are here with kids - help us out. - our room was tiny, we got the standard room with double beds but a family of 4 with no sitting room = not fun. Just a PSA for others out there!! Opt for the bigger room.
Overall we’d absolutely go back again and stay. It was a quick drive to Santa’s village and the perfect weekend getaway. However, if you are looking for luxury, don’t expect it out of the rooms / interior - just the views and amenities!

When guests book a 4 star hotel they expect a high quality stay with nice room amenities and great bedding. Our room was far from that with non down pillows, dirty carpet, the rooms were small, smelled like old dirty shoe, and the room next door someone was smoking pot and you could smell it in the hall!
But I could overlook all that if I was treated halfway decent by the front desk manager and the hotel manager and if the hotel employees treated you like they should at a 4 star resort. So know that when you visit you will enter a hotel with beautiful views but it’s overpriced for the stay!

I was there at the end of February 2020. I use AT&T, never Verizon. Both my own and my wife's Samsung Android phones worked great, no problems. Three or 4 nights I think we were there. I used my laptop connecting to the property wi-fi every day we were there and do not recall any problems. I used the laptop in both public areas (main floor sitting rooms) and in the guest room.
The guy 3 guy's previous to me answered that question. Breton
Woods is an easy mountain. Attitash is medium. Canon Mountain is for very experienced skiers.
Absolutely! We spend the whole time at the hotel and have gone for 2 nights at a time. On our first visit we intended to visit Santa's Village, but were having too much fun at the hotel. They have indoor and outdoor pools, a game room, a movie theater, kiddie playground, campfire, Bingo and more. The highlight for us is always the farm. They do an early morning farm tour but you can visit anytime during the day. There are also plenty if walking trails and outdoor toys to borrow (tennis rackets, basketballs, etc.). Their website lists the daily activities in advance so that you know what will happen during your stay. Be sure to make dinner reservations at the Tavern in advance for dinner. Families with little ones are welcome.
