It was clean, friendly and quiet. The trails were amazing. MT Washington was awesome. Unbelievable how the weather is hot, than when you get to the top it's freezing and windy. I recommend if you want to see nature and its beauty go to New Hampshire.

We stop here for 1 night just traveling through on a trip. This is an older place but it is so very well kept. I was really impressed at how clean it all was. Very quiet and excellent restaurant recommendations!! I only saw the stag for a brief moment while my husband checked is in. It was like being at... More

I've stayed in several motels and lodges in the area, and this one was my favorite. Nice old time lodge feel with friendly family ownership. We had a very spacious and comfortable 2-double bed room. My only constructive criticism is that the owners should do more at breakfast. They have a nice breakfast room, but the cold cereal and basic... More

We are a young couple that stayed at carlsons lodge for three nights. What a beautiful spot! Everyone was so helpful there. From what to eat to what to do. We really appreciated the help. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I appreciated that you could adjust the shower head to what you like. It is in a great... More

Having stayed at Carlsons Lodge on a number of occasions over the last few years, our stay this time was for a total of seven nights. Carol and Will always make us feel welcome and it is lovely to meet other members of the family who maybe visiting. We stayed in our favorite room (108), which has a fantastic view of... More

On Rt 302, this charming place is perfectly situated near everything. I found we made the mistake is getting a room on the second floor because, after a day of hiking Mt Jefferson loop I'd prefer anything on the first floor. Wobbly legs made the stairs challenging for us. Pool is unheated, perfect for cooling our legs off after a... More

I enjoyed my stay here. The family that owns the lodge is friendly and helpful, and my room was equal to any room I've seen at the major chains like Courtyard. I recommend Carlson's as a way to meet good NH people while you stay in an attractive, well-kept lodge. Glad I chose Carlson's!

Stayed overnight after a day of snowboarding at Bretton Woods. Had stayed there about 20 years ago and had a good experience. Friendly, cozy, welcoming, personal. Family owned and run with obvious pride. The room/bathroom was immaculately clean. Close (less than 10 minutes) to Bretton Woods. Free WiFi. Not much in the area for dining in the winter - plan... Somehow we have missed this place in the past. Just a great place to stay. Comfy central area with nice wood-burning stove, warm and nicely appointed sitting areas, multiple access from outside is handy, rooms are CLEAN, spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished. Beds are very good. Breakfast area has some fascinating antique copper ware. Wi-fi worked well. Modern TV flat... More

This Hotel standing in its own grounds with great views over the White Mountains was welcoming in every respect. You come into a large square reception area which is laid out like a lounge with comfortable couches and a real blazing fire. The Hotel was built by the Carson family and one of the daughters continues to run it. She... More
