We reserved The Terrace room for our overnight stay. For a home that was built in the mid 1800's the room was modern and immaculately clean. The bathroom had heated floors and a HUGE floor level walk in shower. Mike told me this was the room they used for guests with disabilities. Very comfortable room with a power recliner and gas fired fireplace/stove. The inn itself has much charm and character. It reminded me of England with the wood work, lower ceilings and doors. I'm 6'5" and I had no problems with the ceiling/door heights. The breakfast was great! Scones were delicious. Eggs benedict was phenomenal! After we returned from dinner my wife and I sat by the fire in the main living room and it was very peaceful relaxing experience. Liza would come in to tend the fire until I let her know I could take care of it. After I went to bed she popped in and chit chatted with my wife. Mike and Liza are incredible hosts and we will be back for another visit…
It was a perfect getaway for an autumn day in NH. The breakfast was delicious! We loved the baked apples! The room was excellent. Our host was knowledgeable and very accommodating. We would stay again
This is our second stay at the Tartan Fox at the Meadmere. This time we came with 3 other couples. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We appreciated the heated bathroom floors and the very comfortable beds. Liza and Mike could not have been more accommodating for our group. The Inn is located just a few miles south of Keene, NH. There is a LOT to do in the area and on this second trip up that way, we discovered different activities than we did the last time, like new restaurants and Ax throwing in Keene. Highly recommend the Inn if you want a comfortable and homey stay.
Wife and daughter visited family and stayed since we had been there just after they opened. Had a great visit and the terrace room was large and accommodated a second bed. Sorry didn’t stay two nights. Will next year. Breakfast was excellent. Mike is an excellent chef and very accommodating. We will come back next year
Our first visit to the New England area, only our second stay in a B&B. What a wonderful stay, everything was so comfortable and homey. Lisa and Mike were very welcoming. You are welcomed and treated like family from the beginning of your stay until you walk out the door. The breakfast was great, Liza even packed up our leftovers which worked out great for lunch later as we were just sightseeing. If you are looking for a relaxing and welcoming stay, I highly recommend.
We had such a great time at the Tartan Fox. Mike and Liza were amazing hosts who went above and beyond in every detail to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfasts were delightful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean, bright with lots of windows looking out to trees and garden. We enjoyed the lovely town of Keene and Swanzey with its great downtown and gorgeous surrounding area with many covered bridges!
I enjoyed hearing about the history of the home. I enjoyed taking the time to explore the property. Liza and Mike are awesome hosts, and thought of all the details. The breakfast was better than any restaurant. My husband and I were glad we found this place.
We returned to the Tartan Fox this past weekend after 3 years. Happy to say everything was as wonderful as we remembered. Liza and Mike welcomed us warmly and made sure everything was just right during our stay. We got great restaurant advice and reservations were made for our dinner. The manor room we chose again since they bring in a twin size bed (real bed, not a rollaway!) for our daughter, everyone feels catered to and it still feels spacious. The room has all the thoughtful little touches that made us feel at home, including a gas fireplace. The standout is the large, real fireplace in the main sitting room, just picture perfect. The three course breakfast was a splurge each morning, and coffee and tea is there for the taking all day. Other than a deep soaking bathtub which I always try to find in a b&b, I can't think of one thing that they haven't thought of. I'm a New Englander and I can strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for the classic Yankee b&b experience.…
Driving from Indiana to Maine, we stayed one night. After a long day, we were relieved to pull into this cozy little inn! It immediately reminded us of a country B&B in Great Britain (maybe the Scottish tartans everywhere have something to do with that, lol?!) At breakfast the following morning, we met two guest couples there on their yearly week-long visit. With such welcoming hosts, clean and comfortable accomodations, and delicious food, we had to agree; this is a place you want to come back to again and again.
