The Tartan Fox Inn is at The Meadmere Country Manor House located less than 10 minutes from Keene, giving you a rural setting while being close to shopping, restaurants, colleges, theater, hiking, bike trails. Four comfy rooms, each with a private bath, so you won't be sharing with other guests. They are decorated with Scottish Tartans, a different plaid for each room. This is the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire and is the perfect location for exploring surrounding towns and neighboring Vermont and Massachusetts. The inn has cable TV, wireless internet access for your computer and off street parking. With close ties to the local community, Mike has recently taken over the Inn. Local events, fun and frolicking in Keene is just min away!. Fresh eggs for your breakfast and homemade scones with jam are a separate food group! We can also accommodate special diets, such as gluten free with advance notice. Just let us know so your trip will be memorable, right down to the food. Our location gives you a nice country feel, yet you are only minutes to downtown Keene. We love gardening, but in our own way. You won't find rows of flowers lined up like soldiers, I take a more free hand approach. Volunteers grow where they pop up, weeds are pulled, and we try to have habitat that caters to our many species of song birds. The Meadmere Home is a gorgeous older structure that was built in 1832 and most recently housed the studio of Norma Stafford, an artistic icon to the Keene area. We enjoy keeping that tradition by maintaining a local artisan gift shoppe on the premises that showcases local Monadnock artistry.

From the moment we arrived our lovely host Liza made us feel very much at home. Our room was especially warm and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious (eggs Benedict being my favorite) and homemade scones were amazing. A carafe of delicious coffee was waiting for us every morning before breakfast. The house itself is an historic building and we especially enjoyed the spacious living room with comfortable leather chairs. Our kind host kept a fire going in the fireplace and we spent a wonderful rainy day reading napping in comfort. Liza suggested several restaurants for dinner in nearby Keene all of which we loved. Over all it was a very pleasant experience. My wife and I plan on returning soon.

The Tartan Fox Inn is such a gem! I am so happy that I discovered this place. You really need to see it for yourself to appreciate its history, beauty, and atmosphere. Mike & Liza were very kind & accommodating throughout my weekend stay. They were very good about letting me know what to expect and checking in on me throughout my stay to ensure I had everything I needed. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous. The beds are so comfortable, I had the best night's sleep I've had in a long time. The bathrooms have heated marble floors and are luxurious. The rooms are very comfortable and luxurious. I felt very comfortable and at ease as if I were visiting family members. The living room downstairs is so inviting and boasts a wonderful fireplace with a gorgeous view of the yard and beautiful sunset views. The furniture is incredibly comfortable, there are books, records, games, and artwork galore. The breakfasts are homemade from scratch by the owners and are very filling. It's been a long time since I've had such a wonderful breakfast. I was so full, I didn't need to eat again until dinner time! The warm from the oven scuffins are a delectable scone/muffin hybrid. I can't believe I've gone 35 years without these addictive treats in my life!! Mike needs to sell these by the Dozen because I would gladly buy a dozen to take home with me! The baked apple was also a highlight. Apples are baked with cinnamon and other spices and words simply do not do it justice! A tasty omelette and a very filling eggs benedict served as the main courses during my stay. I loved hearing about the history of the property while enjoying my morning coffee. This place has such a wonderful and unique vibe. It's luxurious while also being very homey. The Wi-Fi is excellent, the beds are so comfortable, the ambiance is exceptional, and you're even greeted by an adorable little plush Fox when you enter your room! There's plenty of space outside where you can sit in the yard or take a walk down to the Frog Pond in the back and take in the beautiful scenery and the land behind the Inn. There is a spacious front yard as well as a fire pit. Liza provided me with a map of the local covered bridges so I could drive around and explore the area, and when I returned, she got the fire going in the living room for me. I'm absolutely in love with this place and I cannot wait to return! Mike & Liza are really cool & kind, they do all they can to ensure your comfort.

Recently we stayed at the Tartan Fox B&B in Swanzey, NH. We had a lovely time. The hostess was very helpful, the breakfasts were delicious, and the location was perfectly situated between Swanzey and Keene, NH. I would recommend you take a look if you are wanting to stay in this part of NH.

My husband and I spent the weekend here and it was an absolutely lovely experience from start to finish. Liza and Mike warmly welcomed us, and made sure that our every need was addressed. They were incredibly kind and knowledgable, pointing us to local attractions, including a fun self-guided tour of some of the area's covered bridges. Every morning they make breakfast from scratch, and happily abided by our requests to eat outside or in our room due to COVID concerns. We will be thinking about Liza's scones and Mike's eggs benedict for a long time to come. If you're looking for a fine place to stay that absolutely feels like home, look no further than the Inn of the Tartan Fox. You will be well taken care of here, and we can't wait to come back and visit again!

First and foremost this B&B is very comfortable and the care is superb. We spent three nights and each night ended with a tea and a fire in the fireplace. The breakfasts are wonderful. They did a great job of providing great options for my gluten free wife. The rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. We did hikes each day to include Mt Monadnock and they provided snacks and water. They took great care of us, and we look forward to our next visit.

Driving from Indiana to Maine, we stayed one night. After a long day, we were relieved to pull into this cozy little inn! It immediately reminded us of a country B&B in Great Britain (maybe the Scottish tartans everywhere have something to do with that, lol?!) At breakfast the following morning, we met two guest couples there on their yearly week-long visit. With such welcoming hosts, clean and comfortable accomodations, and delicious food, we had to agree; this is a place you want to come back to again and again.

We booked a room because we were attending a concert at the Cheshire fairgrounds only a mile or so away. The hosts were VERY friendly and the room was GREAT. The breakfast was even better. No complaints whatsoever. Looking forward to a return trip!!

We reserved The Terrace room for our overnight stay. For a home that was built in the mid 1800's the room was modern and immaculately clean. The bathroom had heated floors and a HUGE floor level walk in shower. Mike told me this was the room they used for guests with disabilities. Very comfortable room with a power recliner and gas fired fireplace/stove. The inn itself has much charm and character. It reminded me of England with the wood work, lower ceilings and doors. I'm 6'5" and I had no problems with the ceiling/door heights. The breakfast was great! Scones were delicious. Eggs benedict was phenomenal! After we returned from dinner my wife and I sat by the fire in the main living room and it was very peaceful relaxing experience. Liza would come in to tend the fire until I let her know I could take care of it. After I went to bed she popped in and chit chatted with my wife. Mike and Liza are incredible hosts and we will be back for another visit

We spent 4 nights here. It was a very pleasant experience. We felt very comfortable. Liza and Mike made exquisite breakfasts from homemade scones each morning accompanied by eggs, sausage, pancakes...pretty much anything we could have asked for. Our room was well appointed, very comfortable bedding, flat screen tv, small refrigerator in the room. I loved the furnishings, antiques, bedding. It was all very comfortable. After breakfast, they packed leftover scones for us to take on our daily excursions and recommended places for us to go and places to eat. A+ over all experience. We would stay again without hesitation.

The gardens were lush from the rain and the welcome was warm and inviting. My room was beautifully appointed and the bathroom was lovely. And the breakfasts! Homemade scones, coffee and tea, fruit bowl and buttermilk pancakes one day, eggs Benedict the next. Fabulous! And the hosts could not be friendlier or nicer!
