An amazing building. Staff friendly, great breakfast. I know its a period property but the shower was also period ie shower over claw foot bath. I prefer a modern shower but I guess I should have expected this. The staircase is magnificent and there is the Garage next door which we found friendly and served nice beers.

The Steak and Ale restaurant at Governs Inn is great. It has become our place to go when we want a good (special) meal. I recommend this restaurant. On weekends they have prime rib which is very good.

Looking for something near Boston because we were coming from Maine and had to be at the airport by mid-morning, we decided to book a room at the inn. Rochester was about 90 minutes from the airport and seemed like a sleepy, quaint town, so we decided this was a good choice. The inn is located near the center of... More

A really good choice. A lovely historic inn with an amazing staircase set in attractive leafy grounds on the edge of the nice town of Rochester NH. We had a “small bedroom” but it was a decent size with good bathroom although only a double bed (but we were aware of that). Nicely furnished room; no mod-cons like fridge or... More

Friends who had attended functions but had not stayed the night at this place had good things to say, however we were very disappointed. Two weeks before we had hoped to stay there we booked a room through expedia. The choice available was a King or a deluxe King for a bit more money. We booked the deluxe King. Upon... More

The Inn is historic and very beautiful! The staff was extremely welcoming and nice. Breakfast in included but basic. Muffins, yogurt and fruits. Room was ok but very basic. Air condition ing was not turned on when we arrived so it took a few hours to cool down the room and since we were in the attic it was pretty... More

Great variety of Music over the weekend in a comfortable BnB style inn. Great bar with any type of beer, wine , or cocktail you may want. Food was excellent and we were just a short ride to New Hampshire White Mts. Location sits equally between seacoast and mountains and made our visit to New Hampshire a great one. We... More

We stayed here while visiting family in the area, actually invited them to have dinner at the restaurant in the Inn. Nice meal and fun time by all.Enjoyed a upscale continental breakfast in the morning also. The only thing the bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on.Otherwise it was very nice

This inn has a lot of history, ambience and charm. Each room is distinct and pretty. There's also the Rolland Estate next door, which also has nice rooms. Most of the rooms are large, with wood floors, high ceilings and gorgeous wallpaper. Furnishings are attractive as well. It has very good restaurants that include two formal dining rooms, a pub,... Quaint and charming guest rooms are what you'll find at the Governor's Inn. Definitely expect the charm of the past - with some modern amenities. The food is fantastic! We saw the Musical Mystery Murder called Roch of Ages and it was absolutely hilarious. Love this place!
