My son and I stayed for a short weekend. It was walking distance to everything in Portsmouth. I loved that coffee/tea/iced coffee was always available throughout the day. The staff was very kind. The room was very nice.
I’ve stayed at Hotel Portsmouth many times, because it’s the perfect cozy getaway in walking distance of all downtown Portsmouth has to offer. I especially choose it in the winter months due to their festive, cozy atmosphere. The breakfast nook and free coffee is something to wake up for. Though this visit I was pleased to see that the self serve breakfast nook was closed due the pandemic. This is a sure sign the staff are taking it seriously and care for everyone’s safety! Free coffee and tea was still available. I stayed in the Loft room this time. There is a claw foot soaking tub so I treated myself to a quiet, rejuvenating getaway for my 35th bday. The staff even provides eucalyptus bath salts. This is a great place to stay!
It was a lovely stay. We were greeted by a very friendly desk clerk who gave us the lay of the land. Our rooms were so comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We loved all the attention to detail in your hotel. I would rate the stay 9+. Thank you. I will definitely recommend your hotel.
The perfect boutique hotel. The place has so much character. The rooms are extremely quiet, the bed very comfortable and everything was super clean. Breakfast is included which makes it so nice. The location is within walking distance of everything you would want to see and visit. The staff/management were extremely accommodating and very service oriented. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Portsmouth.
Upon arrival do not like the older building fool you! This is a charming hotel that's right above a bed and breakfast with completely modern rooms. In fact, the bathrooms are practically brand new! The beds are comfortable and the rooms are very spacious, complete with an umbrella and robes. The staff is super friendly, giving us a map of the town and offering up suggestions of where to go. The parking lot is an added bonus - as everything is within walking distance. I'm talking about less than a mile to get to the shore park, the waterfront restaurants and harbor cruises. There is a bar that's currently closed, but the staff said we could utlize it if we brought our own wine or beer, which was an added touch. There's only about 45 rooms, which gives it that bed and breakfast feel. There is a kitchen that has water and coffee all day, with a contintental breakfast of fresh fruit, oatmeal, pastries and more! I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Porstmouth to really immerse yourself in this historic town!…
Outstanding customer service. Great breakfast, clean facility friendly staff. Situated in the heart of Portsmouth. Walking distance to everything. Parking was great and available right behind the Hotel.
Our check in was so welcoming, Justin spoke to us as if we knew each other for years, he told us about the town as it was our first trip to Portsmouth. The hotel was sparkling clean, smelled fresh even though it is an older building. The wood railing and doors are beautiful. Our room was also fresh and clean. The hotel is close to everything, we walked everywhere and never needed to move our car. We will definitely stay here again!
Relaxing experience in a nice location, within walking distance of bars, coffee shops and scenic walks. The breakfast wasn't so bad either, we've had much worse at similarly priced hotels in New England. The basics are well-covered but of course there is always room for improvement. Among the items I noted: no safe in the room, no USB charging ports, no door entry technology (they use traditional keys which perhaps are not as secure these days), no blinds in the bathroom windows. These are all smaller details which would've enhanced an already outstanding experience.
Loved our stay here. Plenty of parking in the back and the staff was so friendly. You receive text messages if you choose checking in and making sure you don't need anything. The personal touch is there. We did not grab breakfast as we love a local place so we did that instead. Justin (I believe his name) was so helpful guiding us to all the local places and he did not disappoint. We didn't use our car and could walk to all. The room was great, the AC seemed to be a wall unit which took a minute to get cool but works! I would highly recommend and will stay here again! Loved the charm and old feeling of the building!
We recently had an outstanding experience at The Hotel Portsmouth. While we often take day trips to Portsmouth we decided, as it was a special occasion, to spend the night. Having heard positive things about The Hotel Portsmouth from friends, and being fans of hotels with a historic feel, we opted to give it a try and are thrilled with our choice! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and comfortable. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly, welcoming, and very engaging! Our room was lovely, spacious, had a very comfortable bed, and a large bathroom with a beautiful clawfoot tub and separate shower stall. We were also very pleased to be within walking distance of all the amazing stores and restaurants in the area. The common areas in the hotel were beautiful and our only regret was that we chose to only spend one night! We will definitely be back for another visit.…
