Very comfortable room with great views of Pleasant Lake. Breakfast is an amazing experience, the chef prepares a wonderful menu of dishes. The lake provides the ideal place to relax, taking in the views of the lake and the mountains. We love using the kayaks to explore the lake and do some bird watching.
We are so grateful to have found the Inn at Pleasant Lake for our family vacation. The convenience of having the lake right across the street allowed more time for our 1 year old daughter to have fun splashing in the water and playing on the beach. We even got to take her out in a canoe for the first time! The staff at the Inn were incredible. They made us feel welcome right when we arrived and were so accommodating with extra needs for our baby girl. Having breakfast prepared for us each morning included with our stay was the perfect way to start the day (the scones are delicious!) We also loved exploring the surrounding area including hiking up Mount Kearsarge and checking out the shops on main street. Everyone here is so friendly! We're excited to plan another stay at the Inn at Pleasant Lake again soon!…
We reserved 2 different rooms for our stay (it was with family) - Room 9 and room 4. both have lovely rooms, and 9 has a lot more space. Room 4 is a bit smaller, but still enough room for the fold out couch. We absolutely love this place - you relax as soon as you walk in the door, and the restaurant is amazing!
Stayed in suite 12, had a great view of the lake. The Inn is surrounded by breathtaking hiking trials and some fantastic eateries. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. If you want a very relaxing vacation I would highly recommend.
We were very impressed with the spacious suite that we had for two days. Very clean and comfortable. Scott and the members of his staff that we met were friendly and always there when we needed something. Breakfast was tasty and elegant. We felt at home there after just the first evening. Would go back for sure some day when hopefully we could stay longer.
We hadn't had a getaway in several years, so were OK with treating ourselves to an overnight here in late April. The facility is very nice and the staff friendly and accommodating. Our room was small but adequate, though the bed was not as stiff as I would have liked (think: Westin hotels). If you're like me and abhor foam pillows, pack your own down pillow. The door to the hallway let in far too much light, so a sleep mask is in order. And though the owner insists that the hot water knob in the shower works fine, it just spun and spun for us and didn't provide any output. We appreciated the adjustment he made to our bill after the fact. As for the Oak & Grain restaurant, here's where we were expecting a phenomenal dining experience. It wasn't. See my separate review for it.
The Inn is an old but beautifully restored building with beautiful grounds and a pond to enjoy during summer weather. The onsite restaurant is one we have been coming to for dinner for nearly 18 years now. The food is locally sourced, and always freshly prepared from what is in season. The meats and seafood/fish are locally raised or obtained and expertly prepared. The staff is professional and friendly and very accommodating to your needs.
We'd heard about this place through Yankee magazine and I very quietly decided to book a night in late March before we headed up to King Arthur flour the next day. We're actually here as I'm writing this review. Some of the roads are pretty muddy on the way up so definitely be careful as this is the middle of mud season early as it may be this year. The in itself has had a lot of renovations over the years and has been maintained beautifully. It has an actual wood burning fireplace and a wood stove which you don't see much in many ins and hotels these days. Checkin was a breeze, as I did everything online so when we got there it was nice and easy. We stayed in room number four which is on the second floor. I believe it's what they refer to as a junior suite as you do have a small seating room outside the main bedroom. Our room faces the lake which if it wasn't so foggy because of the ice still on the lake it would have been a beautiful view. We figure in the morning it'll be much nicer. We ate at the restaurant which is called Oak and Grain. It was fairly full. Mr Tucker who owns the chain of Tucker breakfast lunch restaurants was actually dining there with his wife and Friends. We could overhear a lot of his conversation which was kind of amusing, but he definitely is a pretty cool sounding guy. I got a kick out of him talking about how his family was driven out of the family farm by Cromwell in England 300+ plus years ago Reminded us of a very close friend who's no longer with us, whose family was driven out by Rob Roy in Scotland. And even after 300 years the family hasn't forgiven it. The food we had in the restaurant was outstanding easily one of the finest restaurants in this part of the state. We had the endive salad and the pork belly the curry sweet potato soup. These apps were excellent. I also had the Duck Confit Vol au Vent, which was outstanding. For our mains, Richard had the Cod whereas I had the Filet mignon. For dessert we split the chocolate Olive Oil cake, it was quite decadent. Richard being the chef / pastry chef was quite impressed with the quality and the presentation. I did like the fact that the gratuity was automatically added. This is something we see down in Florida which is kind of a nice thing you don't have to worry about tipping because it's taking care of for you. This ensures that the staff get proper compensation from those cheapskates that might be out there.Lol! Overall this end is obviously very popular during this summer season for weddings and such cuz you have a beautiful spot on the lake. It overlooks mount kearsage, which if not for the fog that we had today would have looked very nice. We hope to see it tomorrow morning as the weather clears and we head up to King Arthur flour. We do highly recommend this inn. This in is on a par with Sugar Hill Inn & Adair in the White Mountains which are outstanding inns with excellent food as well. Personally we plan to visit again in the winter which is when we really love to go to these fine country inns. We love that kind of Christmas feeling that we always get at that time of year…
We booked for a midweek special and the price was very attractive. Upon arrival at 3pm, we were told the Inn’s new boiler was not working but was anticipated to be fixed soon. Two space heaters were placed in our rooms and soon were comfortable. We went to the living room and the fire was producing good heat. Blankets were provided for our comfort. Innkeeper came to the living room and offered us accommodations at a sister property, as well as dinner there. She also said our room would be at a 50% discount, plus our first drink would be complimentary. We stayed and had a delicious dinner. Heat came on in the evening. Upon checkout after our breakfast and I was checking my bill, I questioned the Innkeeper about the total due and she said because the heat was restored I would be charged the full rate…not the 50% she had told the day before. After seeing the look on my face, Innkeeper said she would take $75. off. I thanked her and paid. This has left me with an u settled feeling.…
We were lucky on all counts, including having the 8-inch snow storm arrive at night after we got there, and snowing through the rest of the next day, clearing out in time for driving up that forbidding but, as we discovered, well tended hill down to the Inn. The picture book snow, its attending quiet, and lack of foot and motor traffic on the road were perfect. But perfection went beyond this climatic gift. From being greeted by Juliia, the Innkeeper (when you arrive, if she is not at the desk do use that little "antique" bell on the counter,- but no need to pound it), to Olivia (she said she's the "blonde Olivia"; there are two waitresses with the name.), to Lisa who brought sodas to our room while the heat correction to the thermostat was kicking in and later built and maintained the fireplace in the large comfortable living room,- all supremely pleasant and severely devoted to our comfort. But there's more. The food was delectable, delivered in timely manner after very nice initial cocktails. The filet mignon was exceptional in size and tasty preparation. The Oak and Grain lived up to expectations built by friends who had gone there. Breakfast was more than ample as the order sheet given to you the night before attests. It would have been enough to just have things be comfortable as we got away from the buzz of daily life, but they were more than just comfortable for us. We plan to go back, if there are rooms available in the warmer weather, but winter is not off our list for the future. Thank you all.…
