We stayed at this beautiful property for multiple nights in May. Wish we could have stayed a month! Gorgeous building, indoor pool, whirlpool, and grounds. Professional and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. We were super impressed with Max at checkin and Matthew at breakfast—these young men are exemplary employees! We were also impressed with (we assume the manager-in a suit) who we repeatedly witnessed jumping in and helping where needed-even clearing tables at breakfast and filling coffee for guests. Cannot wait to return to this gem!

There is nothing worse than to pay top dollar and be given the worst room in the hotel. We went to check in at 4pm and basically they have no rooms ready and a wait list. When we asked to at least discount the sub par room the answer was nothing we can do, Very suprised

The Wentworth-by-the-Sea is a charming location with wonderful views in every direction. It's a very brief drive to downtown Portsmouth and with access to a walking trail. Our room was generally clean and comfortable. We did have one difficulty -- the room had a bloodstained duvet that took some effort to replace due to covid protocols and some misunderstandings with the staff. But it was ultimately replaced after a pair of trips to the front desk and a conversation with housekeeping personnel.

Had I known what a great hotel this was I would have booked more than one night. It is an old building that has been meticulously cared for and updated. Our room was small but very cute and comfortable. The room was on the front of the building and had three large windows overlooking the garden with the water off to the right. The bathroom was large and had a heated floor. Unfortunately we had dinner plans in Mass. so our only meal there was breakfast. The dining room was pleasant. We had a table at the windows that overlooked another garden. I would definitely stay here again.....

I have always wanted to stay here and now I certainly don't need to to come back. All the things previous, unhappy reviewers have listed are true - not paying attention to guest Marriott profiles so no extra towels - for THREE DAYS. We grabbed towels from the pool area. Our sheets were clean but I noticed tears and small holes, yikes! No coffee/tea in the room and no refrigerator. There was a cute little porch to sit on but a chair was placed in front of its door in the room, and when we looked at the porch, it was filthy. The spa was booked so no chance to experience that. There is no ramp, so you have to haul your heavy suitcases up several steps. It seems that a bellman may only work on the weekends. I can understand no cleaning due to COVID so that didn't bother us. We did not use any breakfast vouchers. As far as the front desk staff goes, around 5 p.m. on our first day, we were on our way to dinner (elsewhere) and I asked the font desk person if the room through the glass is where breakfast is served. This was the answer, "Yes, but there isn't breakfast right now." That was a really odd answer since it was dinner time. We had an electronic key so we didn't need to interact with anyone - that was my only interaction. Overall, this is way too much money/points to spend at a place that offers very sub par amenities and service. It was shocking. We have stayed at many types of Marriott properties and truthfully, the Fairfield in Plymouth, NH is better than this.
