The Great Island Inn is a delightful two hundred year old inn renovated to provide a comfortable and well located destination. There are several restaurants nearby and the beach is a short walk away. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Pet friendly.

What a hidden gem this place is! So clean and cozy. Truly comes with everything you need... towels, dishes, beach bag and towels, wine & snacks!! We enjoyed the short walk down to the water to sip our coffee every morning. And Henry’s Market next door was wonderful, as well, with good breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee. The island is perfect and we loved the proximity to Portsmouth! We truly can’t wait to come back!!

Our host has literally thought of everything. It’s really great that the outside of this building is beautifully historic in appearance, but the room we were in was modern, great combination. Lots of special design touches to make the room unique. And how thoughtful to have drinks of all kinds available at very reasonable prices. Bed was comfortable, bathroom spacious and sparkling clean. Kitchen fully equipped. Quick walk to beach. We stayed on ground floor, virtually no traffic in the middle of summer, so it was quiet. Highly recommend.

I cannot say enough great things about our stay. Everything was perfect from check in to check out. We were driving from Texas to Maine with a golden retriever and looking for an off the beaten path stay exploring somewhere fun. This little town exudes "quaint". We ran along the shore, walked the dog along the beach, and met very friendly locals. The inn was so clean and accommodating; it was the best part of our 2100 mile journey. The mini bar was unexpected and appreciated as we arrived late and had few choices on the island for food and drinks. Many options and priced so affordably. We did go to Wentworth on the Sea for cocktails and appetizers later in the night - an easy excursion. Bed was so comfortable. We had a delicious breakfast and coffee next door at Henry's Market before departure. In all, it was absolutely perfect! I hope we can go back!!
