After a long day of hiking up Tuckerman Ravine, we were so pleased to find a welcoming croo, a comfortable bunk and a warm meal at Lakes of the Clouds hut. This was our first experience with the huts and we were not disappointed! I would recommend arriving as early as possible to get the best choice of bunks, but... More

After a long hike, the AMC huts are like a little oasis of comfort. They are cozy and the crews (or "croos") are very welcoming...always friendly and willing to take the time explain how things work. Lakes of the Clouds is the one of the larger huts and one of the most popular so reservations are a must. The dining... More

My son and I parked at the Pinkham Notch visitor center and hiked the Tuckerman Ravine Trail to the Crawford Path crossover to reach the Lakes of the Clouds hut, and what a welcome sight it was! Lakes of the Clouds is the largest AMC hut and was filled to capacity with 96 people. Our bunk room held 12 people,... More

My wife and I recently did the Presidential Traverse from north to south staying one night at the AMC Madison Springs Hut and the second night at Lakes of the Clouds. We spent the first night at the AMC's Highland lodge, took the hikers shuttle to the Valley Way on the first day and hiked back to our car on... More

The AMC hut system really is everything you could hope for in a real mountain accommodation. Bursting into this place after a long hike is like Heaven, even better when you know you get to rest your bones for the rest of the evening. Meals (breakfast and dinner included) are served family style, are filling and come with good company.... More

This is one of the busiest huts, so you will want to get there early to claim your bunk. The food was good and plentiful, the croo knowledgeable and engaging, and who wouldn't want to spend the night (safely) just below the Mighty Mount Washington?! Can't wait to go back!

A bit pricey but very nice. Great environment. The crew in the hut was AMAZING, they are fun and make it look easy. Bring ear-plugs as the wind blows through the cracks around the windows in the different rooms. Besides this, it is a great experience. Ate well, slept reasonably well (my fault for not having ear-plugs).

Visited lakes of the clouds hut after hiking from the Madison hut. Convenient hut from the top of Mount Washington, with that said I think that's what makes this a busy hut. Beautiful area with small lakes/ponds and great views! Great staff....full of energy! Bunks are ok, not much headroom,so don't sit up quickly. Food was great! Dinner was soup,... More

Please read several other postings about the "circumstances" and details of staying in a hut. Yes - it is no hotel, it is no camping, ... it is very special: It's a HUT. But from this point of view this is really great! The huts from AMC are organized the same way: Same prices, same organization (young and funny crews,... More
