The resort is very nice. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was good but had the same hot foods every morning. The resort amenities were plentiful. There was an outdoor and indoor pool. There was shuffleboard and corn hole set up for anyone's use. Nice little playground. Everything was clean and well maintained.
We found this place on a whim as a friend was living down the street. We needed a family friendly room which allowed dogs. We made the reservation and said we will deal with it. We arrived early on check in day. Allowed to check in early. Great friendly greeting from the gentleman at the desk. We checked in to room 30. Brand new !! New floors. Fresh paint. Fridge was ice cold. Everything was clean and we were comfortable here. Our balcony could use some work but we could care less. We used the brand new outside furniture to sit out and relax. We heard some bad reviews about this but with the new owners they are changing this place for the better. The tavern will probably get a make over soon but the bartenders were friendly and also poured a good drink. Every employ we talked to was friendly and willing to help anyway they can. We will definitely be staying here again for future stays !!…
The room was clean as were the beds and bathroom. The room had an odd smell that was not great. Highly disappointed in the included breakfast. Microwaved eggs and sausage not very appetizing. Staff seemed friendly, not too much interaction. Grounds were clean and well manicured.
On the morning of my checkout, at 8:30am I was sitting on the toilet, just waking up. I hear some taps at the door, and yell “I’m in the bathroom!” More taps. “I’M IN THE BATHROOM!!!” I quickly wipe and wash up, and open the door. There is some cleaning staff (middle aged Indian gentleman) outside and I asked him what he wanted. He said he thought I might have already checked out, because there was no car in the parking spot directly in front of my door??? (My car was in the adjacent spot). He never apologized, and kept saying “no problem”. Like he was doing me a favor letting me stay to 11am. Maybe for some people this isn’t a big deal. But for me, I came to this area for peace, quiet, and solitude. It seems so obvious to me that knocking on guest’s doors at 8:30am is disruptive and creates such an unwelcoming “hurry up and leave so we have extra time to clean” feeling. Annoying your guest right before they check-out (and leave a review) is not only a hospitality failure but just not good business. Not to mention, what would have happened if I were still sleeping? How many times does this guy “accidentally” walk in on guests sleeping? If I were a woman, I would not stay here alone. Also, there was no hotel/restaurant/area information book in the room. So I had to find pictures people took of the hotel restaurant menu on Google. Except Google shows different menus, so there’s no way to tell which is the most current. Eventually I decided to call (after finding number of Google, natch)… and no one answered. Finally, when I first arrived airflow from A/C was barely there. I took out the filters and they were clogged with dust. After cleaning the filters, the airflow was as much better. While the cleaning staff is zealous to get started on your room at 8:30am, it seems they are not so zealous about cleaning the AC filters.…
The room is not clean : There is hair on the bed, hair in the bathroom … Room 2 is a noisy room : close to the route… It doesn’t looks like best western hotel There is no tea in the room, no herbal tea at the office
The White Mountains attracts a huge number of hikers and the location of this hotel is close to many trails in Crawford Notch. But this hotel does not offer breakfast until 7 a.m. so if you are planning a long day hike and want to get an early start, this hotel is not for you. (The food is the usual blah selection; coffee is lower than average). The rooms have sliders that open to what one hopes is clean mountain air, but if you are a non-smoker, be prepared to deal with smoke drifting in. If you are staying more than one night, your room will not be tidied up when you leave for the day and then return. I was not told this until check-out that the hotel has an unheard of policy (to me, anyway) of not tidying a room unless a guest requests it.
My husband and family stayed here when he was a kid and loved it - they really wanted to bring back the memories and stay again. Unfortunately, we really felt the overall hotel left a lot to be desired. To start, Even before booking, I called the front desk to find out the layout of the “family suite” and not one employee could give me a straight answer. One told me “there are beds, and a rug”. They really just slapped a fresh coat of paint on a pretty run down hotel. The room we stayed in was in the same building as the indoor pool and felt really humid and overall not clean feeling. The rug had a damp feeling, the shower wasn’t clean, and we found a used hair brush and hair at the edge of the bed on the floor. I would not let my kid go to the indoor pool as it truly looked gross and smelled so badly of chlorine even throughout the hotel hall. My MIL said they the vent in there looked like it was never cleaned. The patio on this building was so small and had no privacy. The outdoor furniture pictured on the website was dirty and run down. The positives were that it is pet friendly (we didn’t have our dog with us), the basketball and tennis court, and the free breakfast. Overall would not return.…
Reserves a jacuzzi room..front desk refused to honor. Unsupervised kids monopolizing pool and hot tub..although signs stated no unescorted under 16. So called heated pool was freezing, ice machine and game hoom ac not working..no maid service available. Room was old and worn...I will say king bed was fairly comfortable.
All staff are friendly and courteous. Very clean and well maintained property and rooms and outdoor pool. Included breakfast is great with many options to choose from no matter what time you go. Very convenient location to many surrounding attractions and sights.
On Monday, July the 4th I called the hotel to cancel the reservation because my daughter was sick, and I was told that I could not cancel my reservation without a one-night late cancelation fee even though I called about 28 hours before the check-in time. On Friday, July the 8th I found out the hotel charge me an extra night even though I check-out two hours before the check-out time. I call customer service, and they contacted the hotel which issue a 2 Dollars lesser amount refund.
