I highly recommend bringing a large group (leisure or corporate) to the I.H Resort! The rooms, event space, outdoor areas, food, etc exceeded any and all expectations our group of 100 people had. As someone who has planned events for 15+ years, I always assume a couple things won't go as planned, but bc of the staff being so accommodating, literally everything went smoothly. I am beyond impressed! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Hotel's Favorite
I heard about this place from friends and my main interest here is the outdoor pool. Spent 1 night .... no issues. Friendly check-in.... room was satisfactory, clean, comfortable and warm. I was in one of the 400's rooms. I was a bit worried after having read some of the reviews here .... I had a great stay and would do it again. The outdoor pool and hot tub are incredible. As are the views. It snowed for a few minutes while we were in the pool! Perfection ❄️ Also ... dress warm for the area in general. It's extremely cold in February!

In the middle of New Hampshire's White Mountains, close to attractions, mountain hiking, restaurants and shops. Just north of scenic Kancamagus Highway. Nothing fancy, but with comfortable rooms, a nice restaurant with scenic views, indoor and outdoor pools, heated. Good breakfast buffet, unfortunately not complementary, but worth the price. Seemingly popular with families with young children. My rooms have always been quiet during my multiple stays. Climb the on-site tower for an incredible view of the surrounding mountains.

Check in was good the rest was not. There were only a couple of handicap spots for such a large place. The beds and pillows are super hard and very uncomfortable. The ax didn’t work which explains why they had the door to the porch open when we got in the room. It is a nice large room. The restaurant is terrible. I would suggest going to one of the local places instead. Food was bland and when asked for cheese for pasta it was never brought. We waited 45 minutes from ordering to getting our appetizer and never saw the waitress at all that time. I didn’t eat my pasta since it tasted like the sauce was just tomato paste with no flavoring. My husbands fish was fine but the rice was crunchy and the vegetables were barely cooked. We asked a different waiter to get our waitress since we didn’t see her after she brought the meals to get our check. She asked why I didn’t eat my meal and I explained and she did apologize. I wouldn’t eat here again. Grounds are nice. The hotel is very dated in a bad way. I will not be back

We have been coming to Indian Head for almost 20 years. It has always been dear to our hearts, and our 22 year old son has had some of his happiest memories there. Many things about our stay were excellent and as we loved them. The grounds are ever stunning. The lake with its paddle boats, the pools with their beautiful atmosphere. The staff was generally very accommodating to our every request regarding room supplies. The restaurant staff was very good as well. However we were disappointed to find that a number of amenities declined or disappeared while the price climbed substantially. To begin the nightly entertainment for kids, a unique offering to Indian Head, was discontinued. The meal plans for the restaurant also disappeared making it prohibitively expensive. The saunas were padlocked shut. Worst of all was the television. We were initially excited to find the tvs had been upgraded to Roku with myriad features. Imagine our disappointment when we found our favorite but could not watch them because the connection blacked with a frequency between 10 seconds and 2 minutes. Maintenance while being very kind, simply offered that we could unplug and replug the tv, which did not work. This is not acceptable at your prices. While most of the staff, was exemplary in gracious hospitality, when we reported our overall experience upon checking out, we were met with indifference and lack of compensation. Part of Indian Head's original allure was that it offered families the ultimate destination resort lovingly stocked with fun amenities at a modest price. What we witnessed this last trip felt like an effort to pair down the offerings and squeeze extravagantly higher prices. While we understand that these are hard times for hotels, it intensely lessened our interest in returning.

Pros: Nice amenities for families including the large outdoor heated pool, paddle boats, and view of mountains. Staff were friendly and buffet breakfast was decent. Enjoyed paddleboating around Shadow lake on site. Also great location close to Clark’s trading post, whales take water park, downtown restaurants and shops. Cons: it was evident that the bedsheets had not been changed when I checked in to my room (#104) after 430 pm. One of the beds in a bunch of hair on the sheets. Luckily the other bed looked clean so I slept in that. The AC in room worked well but was dirty - looked like black mold. Pics attached. I understand the property is a little dated and expected things to be older but they need to keep up with cleaning standards!

When we arrived we were told we were “across the street”. We were not happy we were not in the main building. When we got to our room it was 41 degrees. We had tried to adjust the heat and were not at all satisfied with the overall condition of the room. We had driven back to the lobby and asked for a different room and they told us no. They would only give us another room if the handy man couldn’t get our heat to work. So we had to wait for the handyman to go to the room and check to see if things were working. We asked to be moved to another room that was warm so we could unpack as it was about 830 at night. Again they refused and said we would have to wait for the room to heat up and only if the heat didn’t work they would move us. Terrible customer service if you ask me. The rock. Should have been checked prior to our arrival. We should not of had to wait an hour and a half for our room to heat up. After leaving and going to get some food and burn some time so the room could heat up we returned and the room was still 56 degrees. The room was not at an appropriate temperature until close to 1130 at night. Unacceptable, and probably violates some type of code. The receipt from Expedia explains NO REFUNDS at all. No exceptions. Seeing that we already paid almost $600 for a hotel for the weekend we had to suck it up and get through the weekend. The pictures of the rooms for this hotel are not at all what we experienced and customer service was poor in accommodating us. After that initial encounter with the man who was working when we checked in we knew the hotel would do nothing for us. I can honestly say the experience that we had was so bad I will not be going back there. The door to the room was in such bad shape there was a 1/2 in gap under the door and we had to use a towel and 2 pillows to stop the cold from coming in. The hotel room was in such poor repair the pictures show it. Mold in the bathtubs, damaged heating, dirt and dust all over the drapes, urine stained on the toilet, shower rod hanging on by a thread. For nearly $300 a night this was a scum hotel, I have gotten a better experience with red roofs and motels than this alleged “resort”. Shameful.

We travel quite a bit. There are lots of different types of places to stay -- most with no character. The Indian Head Resort has nothing but character all day long. Such a blast! If you find a Hyatt or Wyndham to be the kinds of places you gravitate to, then don't book here. This place has been around for 60+ years and it does show. Our room had been updated with cozy beds, a lovely bathroom and a balcony. The outside of the building looks its age, but doesn't look worn down -- just looks like it's from a different era (because it is). We had the Thanksgiving buffet which was INCREDIBLE!! I've never seen shrimp the size of the ones they were serving for shrimp cocktail. HUGE. They have a beautiful outdoor heated pool and hottub as well as an indoor heated pool. We enjoyed walking around the lake on the property and listening to the rushing water of the river which adjoins the property. We toured the teepee at the front of the resort, too. We didn't get a chance to climb the tower up to see all the sites, but we will definitely be back to Indian Head in the near future to climb the tower, row the paddle boats, fish in the lake, use the arcade and the gym and enjoy more of the fabulous food. This is a fun place. We enjoyed the kitsch.
