I don’t often give reviews but how could I not after an incredible 1 night stay at The Inn. We have been doing a road trip of New England and stayed in a number of hotels across the area and this far surpasses anything else we have experienced. The location is incredible as it is right by the river and in the middle of surrounding extensive woodland, it really makes you feel close to nature, and we were “lucky” to come across a bear on our evening walk back to the hotel. On arrival we were given a tour of The Inn by Mary, the decor is very quaint and we loved everything about it, it was immaculately clean and you could tell it is not just a business but is loved by those that run and work there. I noticed some people had complained about the basin in the room but I personally thought that these little quirks added to the character. Shortly after arriving we helped ourselves to free coffee/tea and homemade cookies and sat by the river, it was beautiful and peaceful. We had a restful night and were given a delicious breakfast with impeccable service on the morning that we left. Thank you so much Mary, John and Christine (and Emma) for such an amazing stay!

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Inn for two nights while vacationing in New Hampshire. To say that I am glad that we stumbled upon this gem would be a huge understatement! Both of us very much so enjoyed our little getaway from reality for a few days. Each and every staff member that we interacted with was lovely and you could tell that they have a passion for what they are doing!
As soon as we arrived at the Inn, the woman at the check in desk warmly greeted us and gave us a tour of the building with the tour ending in the Silver Cascade room which is where we stayed for the two nights. The room was very clean, had a great view with sliding glass doors to a deck, and the gas stove made it very cozy and warm at night. The first morning we stayed for breakfast and the food was absolutely amazing. We both had the cinnamon bun blueberry French toast which was absolutely heavenly. After returning from shopping later on that day we came back to find a freshly cleaned room with new towels!
The inn is located in a very beautiful area and it was very convenient as the North Conway shops were not very far away, along with some other hidden gems that we were so lucky to find! Our next vacation to New Hampshire will definitely include a stay at the Inn at Ellis River and I would recommend to those traveling through that area! Each experience at the Inn was great and all of the staff members made us feel like we were at home and we definitely didn’t want to check out, but we will be back!!

We very much appreciate your wonderful review, Travelerbug99! Thank you for such kind words! It was a pleasure to meet you both and great to have you with us! Thank you for choosing to stay here and we certainly hope we will see you in the future. Our staff loves the Inn and our guests so we are happy to know you felt greeted warmly and that you could feel the passion we have for what we do - that means a lot to us so thanks very much for mentioning that. Silver Cascade is a pretty little room with the best view in the house overlooking the Ellis River - so glad you liked it! Also, happy to know you enjoyed our breakfast - John's Cinnamon Bun Blueberry French Toast is normally a hit! Thank you for all your wonderful commentary and such detail and for being willing to share with us as well as recommend to others. We very much appreciate that! See you next time!

This charming Inn sits on Route 16 as you head into the White Mountain National Forest. The peaceful respite is just north of Conway, a bustling touristy area. Although the inn is over a hundred years ago, it offers so many of the comforting amenities like fireplaces, jacquzzi tubs and king size beds in many of the beautifully decorated rooms. There is also a "game room" which comes with a full bar, pool table, darts and chess at the ready. In season, there is an inground pool just steps from the entrance. Our stay came with a lovely breakfast each morning cooked by chef/owner John (It's a surprise each day and always comes with his incredible bacon!!). All rooms look out over the mountains and many give the view of the river. We were on the 2nd floor with a deck and adirondack chairs overlooking and enjoying the sounds of the rushing water of the Ellis River. John's wife and co owner, Mary, is lovely. Christine manages the Inn with humor and makes you feel right at home!
This was the perfect place for us during this time of Covid. All protocols have been taken to make you feel safe. And driving through the mountains (as we did with the convertible top down!) is just so peaceful and beautiful.
Although we hated for our weekend adventure to end, we absolutely know that we'll return in the not too distant future!

Had a lovely stay at the Inn at Ellis River. It’s a beautiful historic inn, with rooms to lounge by the fireplace or play a board game or read a book. Because of Covid, I didn’t really do that, but if you were comfortable with that, there definitely was space to spread out. Also a bar on site serving until 9pm.

The cookies and coffee/tea each evening were a real treat — something different every night (we had chocolate chip, ginger snap, brownies and sugar cookies with pink icing for valentines). The breakfast are sooo good. These will definitely get you ready for a long day of skiing. I enjoyed the quiche and the baked French toast was just sinfully delicious. The staff will make sure you have everything you need. They were super attentive and so very friendly. They really made me feel welcome.

My room was on the small side but I had everything I needed. The bed was super comfy and I had 3 consecutive nights sleeping the most I have in a long while. Note: the stairs to the second and third floor might be an issue for someone with mobility issues. The inn is within walking distance to the Jackson xc facility making it very convenience for those traveling for that. Highly recommended!

Hello Beckey B! Thank you for your outstanding review - we very much appreciate you doing this and taking the time to share your experience. Thank you for the wonderful detail you put into this. It was great to meet you and are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us. The Inn does have a lot to offer - thank you for pointing all those out to everyone even though at this time, you were not comfortable enjoying some of the other spaces due to the current pandemic situation. We appreciate that you wanted to let others know those spaces exist here such as the bar and the sitting room. We have a great staff here that love the Inn and our guests - it is always wonderful to know that our guests, such as you, feel welcome here - it was all our pleasure! Jackson is a great little town with XC ski during the winter and golf during the other seasons. Plus wonderful walking and hiking spots as well, including Jackson Falls. Thank you for sharing and for highly recommending us! That is so helpful to us. We hope we will see you another time!

When my husband I were planning a weekend away in October to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary, we reserved one of the last remaining rooms at the Inn, relieved that we were able to stay here during peak foliage, the busiest, most beautiful season of the year.
The stresses of life melted away as we entered the Inn. As anticipated, our room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, and the shower, so refreshing! Whether you are a newcomer, or a frequent guest, you are treated like an old friend. A note welcoming us back to the Inn with Congratulations on our anniversary was waiting for us in our room, along with some delicious treats. We appreciated this incredibly special personal touch.
Each morning one anticipates fresh baked croissants, scones, or breads, and a different savory or sweet entrée is freshly made, energizing you for the events of the day. Raspberry french toast, or a ham and cheddar cheese frittata, and John’s famous signature bacon, with that special something, always a mouthwatering treat! The dining area abuzz with merriment, would not be the same without Christine, the Inn’s treasured co-host, delighting guests with her infectious smile and banter.
The Inn was awarded 2020 Best Overall display of the Pumpkin People, an annual event sponsored by the Jackson area Chamber of Commerce. Mary and staff did an excellent job with their Jungle themed display which exemplified their whimsical side. We are looking forward to our next visit in the Spring!

My sister and brother in law have been coming here for several years now during the Christmas season and we finally got the opportunity to accompany them.
When I walked through the door of the Inn I was impressed at how beautiful the Christmas tree and decorations looked. It immediately put me in a festive, holiday mood. Every room there is decorated beautifully. If you have seen the movie White Christmas, you would think you were back in time and in it.
We had a third floor fireplaced room. It was warm and cozy and a wonderful plate of chocolates were waiting for us. The bed was so comfortable and warm. I felt like I was back in the “old days” in a boarding room. It was just perfect. Every room has unique decor.
Every day at 3:00 freshly baked cookies are put out for the guests. I can’t tell you how enjoyable this is. Also, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and “ all the fixings’ are available as well, 24 hours. Another wonderful amenity !
The staff and owners made me feel like I was family, taking time to sit, and talk with us.
The bar area is amazing, with a tv, games, and a fireplace. At night, we played games in the piano room. It felt I was home, just hanging with my family in our living room, that’s how comfortable this Inn is.
The morning breakfast was delicious! I can’t believe how good the food tastes and is presented. So much too!
I will definitely be coming back. Do yourself a favor and stay here! You will not be disappointed. I was sad to leave but I’ll be back. The owners and staff go out of their way and truly make each guest feel special.

First of all, if you want a specific room during fall foliage, you need to book WAY in advance. I booked 7 1/2 months ahead of time and ended up with the Crystal Cascade room. (Not my first choice). Christine the Innkeeper is super friendly and gave us a tour upon arrival. The first order of business is to sign up for a breakfast time; 8:00am, 8:30am, or 9:00am. Although we only went to breakfast once, the food was very good. The location is also convenient to the few restaurants around and all of the recommended sites to see. If you want to stay out of the bustle of North Conway, this is a great option. Our room was the reason for the 3 stars. The mattress was soft, with a topper that made it more so. The sink is outside of the very dark bathroom, and there is no furniture in the room except 2 beds. For two 50+ year-olds, it wasn't very comfortable seating. The thermostat didn't seem to work, so it was pretty cold in the room. Maybe if we had a different room, I could give 4 or 5 stars. I did mention my concerns in an email and the owners responded favorably.

Dear Amy D - thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us on this review as well as via email. Yes, it is very important to book in advance to book a room you may like best. Crystal Cascade is one of our most booked rooms though not every room is suitable for everyone - we understand that. All 21 rooms are different - different size, amenities, views, etc. Your comments about the bed are the first we have received - as I indicated in my email response to you, we will begin to monitor that going forward. We do not want anyone to feel uncomfortable if it can be helped/ Most of our beds, including the one in Crystal, have either a pillow topper or featherbed, almost 100 percent of the time, if a guest feels uncomfortable in the bed, it is the topper - we are happy to remove them. That almost always remedies the situation. But, again, we will begin to monitor the bed in that room. Crystal Cascade is liked because of the little sitting area, fireplace and balcony overlooking the back gardens and with a side-view of the Ellis River. We are sorry you did not care for the daybed that doubles as a sofa. We'll keep an ear and an eye out for that as well. We do use the room periodically for more than two people however, we've tossed around the idea of removing that and adding chairs, etc. Most of the guest rooms have a sink outside the bathroom - this was a setup from years ago. It's considered by some as quaint and is tied into early styles - we've had a handful of folks mentioning they'd prefer a sink in the bathroom - we have five rooms with that setup. We are always happy to get on the phone with people and go over each room. During the time you were here, the weather fluctuated like it does in New England this time of year. Some days it is in the 70's or 60's. Some days dip lower, etc. The main building is either heat (and room temp) OR air conditioner (central air) or room temp. It is not either/ or. So, often this time of year, we switch back and forth based on feedback from our guests. If we do not hear anything from anyone, we do not know there is an issue. Crystal Cascade is great because during this time of year, there is the alternate heat source in that room - the fireplace in Crystal provides some nice, cozy warmth. We do very much appreciate you reaching out as it is very important to us to know what our guests think - there is always room for improvement no matter where you go. We do hope that folks reach out to us during their stay because though some things are subjective whereby there is not much that can be done, there are things like heat and changing a light bulb in the bathroom ceiling fan to a brighter one, we can remedy right away. Don't be afraid to ask - we are known to go above and beyond to make our guests comfortable. We are happy you enjoyed the area and the beautiful foliage. Our team (Christine and the two of us) appreciate your kind words about us and the location (it is very convenient and set back for quiet :) ) We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your travels. Thank you again!

Our last time there, the Mrs. was expecting our son. Now that he's old enough to stay at a B&B, we returned! Everything was just as we were expecting. Clean, comfortable rooms, quiet atmosphere, warm hospitality and great breakfasts!

It's an ideal location being away from crowds but everything is a short drive. A few restaurants are a short walk. There's nothing like sitting by the river with a morning coffee or in the afternoon relaxing. We even ventured in to sit on the rocks as it's pretty shallow. Evenings can be spent in the game room with pool, checkers, darts and other games.

The Inn At Ellis River is a wonderful inn that checks all the boxes!

Very charming location and building and a great starting point for exploring the area. I loved the fact they gave a personalized tour of the building upon checking in - very unique and appreciated. The room was smaller than I expected; for some reason I thought I booked with a microwave and fridge but the room had neither which wasn't great as we had stuff that needed to be refrigerated. The bathroom was also a weird set up with the sink around the corner and not in the actual room with the toilet and shower. Again, the room was much smaller than I had anticipated, I'll say it again. The television was tiny and got hundreds of random channels (it was fun flipping through to see what cool stuff popped up) but nothing that seemed local. There was a parking lot but that filled up fast and there was a bigger one just up the driveway that we parked in with no issues. They served a homemade breakfast each morning as part of the room rate where you were seated in a dining room and served several items. If you can eat anything, this will be great for you. I was sitting there jealous as I saw others eating all sorts of rich, yummy indulgent food that I can't do on my new diet. I did try the fritatta and it was good. Staff were so friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being in charge of the inn and interacting with guests. My one biggest complaint (and honestly I'd mark this lower if not for the nice staff) was the bed. I woke up the first day in such pain from that old mattress, not to mention the numerous oversized pillows that were part of the set up. All day I had throbbing back pain as we drove or walked anywhere and I almost considered leaving and not spending the second night. Hopefully, that was just my bad luck but I probably wouldn't stay again due to that issue.

Dear Courtney, Thank you for your review and for staying with us. Thank you for your kind words regarding our building and the tour we are happy to provide! We always want to know what our guests think about their stay so thank you for sharing. I wanted to respond if I could. The Ellis River Cottage is the unit (stand-alone) that has a microwave and fridge (plus coffee maker) - no other room does (I think you booked Jackson Falls?). It is often best to book direct to get a full understanding of each room and its amenities - each room is different. Third party booking platforms do not allow all the information direct booking allows. We have a fridge in the dining room for our guests' use and that is part of our tour. Our larger rooms have fridge's and coffee makers - we're always happy to discuss our rooms and their amenities so going forward, feel free to call us and we can let you know which might best suit your needs. Some of our rooms have the sink/ vanities outside the bathrooms - it is considered quaint by many and was necessary due to the original design of the rooms. We do have other rooms in which the sinks are in the bathrooms. We have 21 rooms - some are larger with jetted tubs, fridges, coffee makers and fireplaces, we have smaller "fireplace" rooms like the one you booked, we have medium sized rooms, etc. Regarding breakfast, thank you for your comments - yes, it is homemade and plentiful. When we are made aware of one's dietary restrictions, we always do our very best to accommodate (we've been known to make a special shopping trip for folks :) ) - that is another pitfall of booking third party - our direct system allows one to advise us of dietary restrictions or advising us upon check-in helps us to know as well. Please let us know next time and we will do our best to provide you with what works. Regarding the bed, we have feather toppers or pillow toppers on the beds, A very small amount of people find them uncomfortable. We are always appreciative of learning of any concern during one's stay so we can address it and hopefully resolve - the vast majority of guests love the comfort of our beds so we maintain use of the toppers. I am so sorry you did not sleep well - we are happy to pull the topper from any bed - this has helped others. Don't be afraid to let us know things while you're with us. We always want our guests to feel comfortable and to have a breakfast they can enjoy - our two highest priorities. We are very happy you thought our staff was friendly - we do really love our guests and what we do so I appreciate you mentioning that. I hope this response has helped. We hope you will stay another time! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Our 1st B&B stay in 25 years and it was PERFECT!! Not only are the owners & staff, Mary, John, Donna & Chris friendly and welcoming their positive energy fills all the other guests so as we all had our morning (DELICIOUS) breakfast at our own tables there were smiles all around. No awkward glances. Comfy accommodations with every single thing we needed. The location is walkable to several restaurants and short drives to great hikes and waterfalls! Will definitely choose the Inn next time we are in town!

Hello MrsP3333, Thank you for getting in touch! We are relatively close to the Saco River where Kayaks are welcome. We are approximately 8 to 12 miles from where Kayaks can launch - it depends on where you place your kayaks. For more information perhaps take a look at the Websites for Northern Extremes Canoe and Kayak or Saco Bound Canoe and Kayak which are in the Conway/ N. Conway area just south of us. We should be able to store your kayaks in our barn. Thank you.

You are staying at another property and want to use the amenities of the Marriott? Well i'm not sure how that works I can say I did vacation in Puerto Rico and I was able to buy a day pass at the Hilton resort to use their pool it was like $30 for the day.
