We stayed at the Manor to celebrate an anniversary and birthday. We had high expectations considering the price point of the rooms and that the Inn promotes itself as having world class service and refined decor. I agree with previous posters that the inn and property are in definite need of updating and refresh. The staff were responsive to requests, but you did not get the sense that they were happy you were there or that they would go out of their way to be accommodating. Although the Inn was notified we were staying to celebrate - except for a printed note card at dinner with congratulations, there was no effort on the Inns behalf to make the stay feel special or celebratory. We always traveled for this weekend and our hosts have ensured we had amazing experiences, this was not the case here. On the up side, the location of the Inn is great for touring the local lake region, and the White mountains. The crown jewel of the Inn is the food - the chef was amazing and our meals both nights were outstanding. The Inn was underwhelming, but the food was fabulous. I would not go out of my way to stay here again, but would definitely go back to dine.…
Like other reviewers, we also found the room very dated. We could hear the plumbing from the room next to us. The signs requesting no smoking were yellow with time and age. We had afternoon tea delivered to the room- a nice touch and we enjoyed the fire each night we were there. The bed, linens and towels were all fresh and clean. The property itself needs some landscaping and attention. To be called a Manor - some fall flowers and basic mowing and weeding would go a long way. I know it’s COVID times, but these details are important when you don’t get the pub or gym.
We just returned from a wonderful weekend from The Manor on Golden Pond. Where do I begin? We felt so safe and relaxed with the Covid precautions. Brian - the co owner with his wife - was informative. Professional and went beyond my expectations. Our room had an amazing view. It was sparkling clean upon arrival with first class amenities. The breakfast, tea time , evening home made cookies were delicious. We very much enjoyed our dinner . The location is ideal. Thank you - we will return-
Nice B&B overlooking Squam Lake. Rooms were clean and modern. Breakfast was good. Brian was very helpful on hikes, restaurants and other suggested activities. Within walking distance of a couple restaurants and a marina. Had a pool. If you are looking for a quiet, well run B&B, The Manor should be on your list.
For me, the inn earned four stars for its charm and location. Rare in what's largely a summer resort area, the Manor reeks of old school authenticity. Sure - the building need a refresh, but the rooms were spotless, the bathrooms recently renovated, and the bed was so comfortable. The location is simply unmatched. It was the perfect spot for a 48-hour solo getaway. The dining experience earned them the fifth star in my book. The new(?) chef's menu is ambitious and true to the area, featuring local fruits and vegetables, and some very-executed dishes. The summer salad, the seared sushi-grade tuna appetizer, and the steak dish stood out. And the equally ambitious wine list was very fairly priced. The three servers - who'd clearly been working together for ages - were so pleasant, so attentive, and worked so hard to create an upscale-bordering-on-formal summer experience in the era of COVID-19. A couple of hours in the wood-paneled dining room, with a gentle summer breeze, watching other couples enjoy birthdays and anniversaries, was just perfect. There were a few opportunities for improvement, but most were attributable to the absolutely devastating effect of the pandemic. As a fellow small business owner, I get it ... and these folks are putting their resources exactly where they should - safety, cleanliness, and guest experience. Everything else can wait.…
