This was my second visit to the Hancock Inn. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is delicious and the staff could not be more friendly. They also seem to attract the most wonderful guests. It was a real pleasure to stay the weekend.

Dear Laura: Jarvis and I are so pleased that you enjoyed the inn and the good company of your fellow guests. One of the first surprises I had as an innkeeper was how the shared experience of a weekend here drew people together and how they would find common threads in their lives. Thank you for your review and for... More

Wonderfull old historical inn. Our room and service was great. Great tavern, and outside seating, and nice sitting room. They will serve you in the sitting rooms. Family came to visit us and we had the room and service as if it was your own home. The gardens and grounds in the back are great you need to go the... More

So glad you got to come home to Hancock over Old Home Days Weekend; it is an old fashioned, Americana good time! As well as a great time of year to explore all the nooks and crannies of the inn - inside and out. Seems like you took full advantage, and we thank you for your review and hope that... More

The historic Hancock Inn is a gem of Hancock, NH, itself a quiet village lined with 18th c. homes. I love staying here - no matter what room, on what floor. Whether public rooms or private bedrooms, each cozy space feels like the 18th century without the fleas, outhouse, or grime. Traditional decor is cheerful and bright, and the restaurant... More

Thank you for your very nice review! We are always grateful that the character of the inn continues to shine through the modern amenities that succeeding generations of innkeepers have added to its hospitality - wifi, cable television, central air conditioning, etc. The town of Hancock is such a unique place, and the inn is such a unique place, that... The hotel was wonderful. We loved the attention to detail in the historic decor, food, and the way in which we were looked after including helping us to organise our activities. The owners helped ensure our stay was memorable. We would totally recommend the Hancock Inn.

We stopped here quite by accident on our way back to the condo we were staying in. The history was what drew us in not knowing it was the oldest inn in New Hampshire. We stopped by for just a glass of wine so we could see the restaurant. The bar area only has 5 seats but someone was just... More

Isn't blueberry season great?! We work with nearly 30 local growers, farmers and artisan producers to bring the very best flavors to the table here at The Hancock Inn. While it is a pricier route, we agree, it's worth the splurge and so worth supporting local farms and businesses. Thank you for stopping by and we hope you fall in... More

due to a large party in the main dining room, we were given seats in a back room which was not very appealing and was near the kitchen. what we saw of main dining room was not particularily attractive. nice little town.

Thank you for your comments. If you were here last night there was, indeed, a Rehearsal Dinner going on in our dining room, which meant serving our other restaurant guests in the private dining room, the tavern and out on the terrace. The private dining room is quite removed from the kitchen, so we assume you must have been in... More

Great location, food, accomodation and hosts. Hopefully we will get to return. The local produce is very welcome at breakfast and dinner. Good location for exploring New Hampshire and the hosts very helpful in suggesting where to explore.

The Hancock Inn is an absolute gem. Beautiful furnishings throughout that aren't gaudy, as some B&Bs can be. I stayed in the Stahl room and it may seem small compared to most people, but living in NYC, it was huge! The bed is fantastic - i like a firmer mattress, and the mattress was firm but not stiff like a... More

My friend and I had the nicest evening at the Hancock Inn. Marcia and Jarvis are most welcoming. They are gracious and display the grace of an older time. We had a wonderful meal and the turnip (maybe they called it a rutabaga) side dish was out of this world. I can't wait to visit for their Sunday supper! Thank... More

Thank you, Rebecca!!! Yes, come back for Sunday supper sometime. For those that don't know, on Sunday's we serve a prix fixe, three course menu that changes every week. No decisions about what to order because there is only the one, three course affair. $17.89 per person, excluding beverage, tax and alcohol. Because supplies are limited, reservations are highly recommended.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hancock Inn is a historic property in Hancock, New Hampshire. Built in 1789, it is New Hampshire's oldest continuously operating inn. The inn has 14 rooms for overnight accommodations that are exceptionally well-appointed with period antiques and inclusive of modern amenities, such as in-room chargers, waffle-weave spa robes, flat screen televisions with built-in DVD and wifi throughout the building. Many rooms have gas or electric fireplaces. There are numerous common areas around the inn for the enjoyment of our guests, upstairs and down. The two sitting rooms on the first floor, one with with a Rumford fireplace, are hallmarks of the inn's warmth and hospitality, separating it from the usual of being away, making it feel closer to home. Outside, the inn's 1.5 acres of gardens and field (which includes a professionally maintained croquet pitch in the summer) connect visitors to the Monandock region's preserved landscape and scenery. In the winter, join countless avid snowshoers and cross country skiers and, other times, experience the lakes, rivers and trails that crisscross our corner of the world. The inn's fine dining restaurant is open seven nights a week. The farm-to-table menu features New England favorites relying on locally raised beef, pork and poultry, plus cheese, fruits and vegetables from area growers, including vegetables from our own gardens. The inn's reknowned, cooked-to-order breakfast is served complimentary to house guests. Come to the Hancock Inn and learn why it has been characterized as "the near perfect expression of the New England village inn." ... more   less
