Detailed Reviews
I have tent camped here off and on since I was a kid. I now have been coming back with my own family and am saddened that this franchise has put their "stamp" on it. We loved the campground for the natural beauty (especially the river!).
We went for a few nights this July. On weekends, they have loud events with party hayrides and other shows at the main building. The hayride was still blasting music at 9:30 at night riding around the campground. At that point of the day after hiking/swimming we would rather be hanging by the fire, listening to the river in front of us. Instead, we listened to loud music and screaming kids. I know everybody has a different taste in camping and some may like all of the extra activities/attractions, this just isn't our thing. According to the new property map, there will be lazer tag and waterslide(??) at some point. This year they added a jumping pillow and mini golf. Neither of those were terrible, and the kids did enjoy. The new camp store is very well stocked.
The river is still beautiful, we had a lovely Ellis-front campsite and we had a blast swimming and floating- I could just do without Yogi bear everywhere!!
They should put the $$ towards updated bathroom/shower facilities, they could definitely use a renovation! Still undecided if we will come back next year, there are many other "natural" campgrounds in the White Mountains!

Hi there, thank you for your thoughtful review. We appreciate that you came to camp this summer with an open mind during our transition to the Jellystone Park™ brand. We apologize that the noise from our activities took away from the tranquility of your campsite. This is why we have regulated quiet hours from 10pm to 8am, to allow both the enjoyment of camp-wide activities and quiet relaxation by a campfire. You're right, not everyone has the same expectations of camp and we are continuing to gauge how to handle this in the transition. We're so glad that you enjoyed the beautiful New Hampshire setting. We love the rivers too! Thank you very much for your feedback and we appreciate your years of loyalty to the campground.

This was our first visit to a Jellystone Campground. It was so easy to book. We booked through the website and found that the deals/special they offered were perfect for what we were looking for. We stayed in a cabin, which was so new, so clean, and had everything that we needed (except linens, which are clearly stated on the website). Bringing our own linens actually made the cabin feel more like home!! We loved the cabin, and the spacing between. It was in perfect proximity to the pool and many of the ameninites. I truly loved having a porch as well. It was large, and a great space to sit in the mornings or late at night. The golf carts were awesome, and such a convenience for adults. I would bring bikes for my kids next time, but they loved being able to walk everywhere, and I felt very safe with them doing so. The staff were so kind and accommodating. We drove through the park (golf cart) many nights, and every site looked lovely! The park was much larger than we expected! There were tent sites with many right on the river, spaces between the sites, other cabins were right on the river (some with hot tubs!). The kids loved mini-golfing, gaga, the pool, and playground. We all loved tubing on the river, and the beach. Though we didn't participate in the many activities available, it was only because we were so busy enjoying the rest of the park! We were fortunate to have such amazing weather, but I can see the park being just as fun in the rain, especially with having a cabin, which is easier in bad weather. We stayed 4 nights, and loved it. The location is minutes from North Conway, Storyland, and other attractions. We cant wait to go back.

Our group comprised of my family and my sons-in-law family (on their first camping trip) traveled to Glen Ellis in mid-September 2020 for the first time. And the trip was absolutely worth it! The journey to the campground from either direction through the Mt Washington valley was interesting and very scenic. Upon arrival the staff was courteous and helpful, which extended to all members of the staff with whom we interacted during our stay. The campsites exceeded our expectation and we are lifelong campers: clean, spacious and even had real stone fireplaces, not metal rings. The campsite views along the Saco and Ellis rivers were spectacular. The variety of convenient activities really adds to the atmosphere of the campground. We have visited many Jellystone Parks over the years and found Glen Ellis to be first rate with a more rustic feel to the grounds than other Parks. The local hiking and fishing opportunities are plentiful for all abilities. As a last word I must add we had an allergy emergency in the middle of the night. The general manager of Glen Ellis answered our call to the emergency number and was at our site in minutes with allergy medications plus local medical information. Her immediate assistance was exemplary and we were relieved and very grateful.

This past summer was our first time back to Glen Ellis since the change in ownership. We had been going to Glen Ellis as our yearly family camping trip for a few years now and have always enjoyed our stay. After our stay this past summer, we made serious considerations to not return due to the changes. The addition of the golf carts speeding around the campground, half the time with children driving them, made it dangerous for our young children to be walking around. What really bothered us was every night from about 7pm to as late as 9:45pm, they have a trailer being pulled around followed by a bunch of golf carts blaring music that can be heard on the complete opposite side of the campground. When we went in August, the trailer was packed full of people, none of them wearing masks during the Pandemic, and was just absolutely obnoxious for that late at night. If it ended by 8pm, then that would be fine. However, on more than one night of our 5 night stay, the trailer and golf carts were driving by our campsites at 9:45pm blasting music. This is not what we go camping for. As a previous reviewer mentioned, if you want a Disney-like camping experience, then this will be good for you. After much consideration, we decided to book our usual campsites along the Saco River for summer of 2021. However, we just recently received an email stating that these sites have now been turned into cabins and we would have to be relocated. Part of our family has been relocated from a rive site to a site in the middle of the campground directly across from the bathrooms by the pool. This is deeply upsetting and just flat out wrong. The relocating from a prime spot to one of the worst spots (who wants to hear those bathroom doors slamming all night long?) was terrible but it is not even the worst part. The new owners have completely ruined that section of the Saco River by building cabins on all of but four sites in that area. I'm fine with building cabins on the campground for those that want them. But building them right on the river is just a poor decision and shows the new owners do not respect the area the campground is in. This is very disheartening, especially since none of this was communicated when we booked those sites ahead of time. We are now reconsidering our plans to come back and search for a new campground to bring our family each year.

Hi there, thank you for your review. We're so glad to hear that you've been camping with us before, and we're sorry to hear that you're unhappy with our services. 2020 was a season of many "firsts" for us at Jellystone Park™ Glen Ellis. We're sorry that you were inconvenienced by our golf carts. We brought golf carts to camp so that people can conveniently and quickly get from one attraction to another. We do have policy that prohibits children from driving them, and we have a clear speed limit of 5mph. It will be a priority in 2021 to make sure that the grounds can be better supervised, and that our campers are abiding by these policies. This is also true in regards to the wagon rides and music that you heard in the evenings. We have quiet hours nightly from 10pm-8am, and we will be enforcing those as well. We very much appreciate that you've still kept an open mind and decided to book your vacation with us this year. It is true that some of our campsites will be undergoing changes before our season starts, and we notified the affected campers as soon as we had this information. We are adding cabins along the Saco River to give more people a chance to stay in this lovely spot. This does not mean, however, that RV/tent camping will no longer be possible on the rivers. There are still many riverfront campsites, and since your specific campsite was affected, you have the option to stay at a comparable or upgraded site from the one that you had. Just give our reservations team a call and they can help you to find a great site! We understand that not every change will be met with positivity, but we're grateful to hear people's thoughts and perspectives so they can inform how we make decisions moving forward. Thank you again for your time and please know that you're always welcome to camp at Jellystone Park™ Glen Ellis.

We decided at the last minute to take this trip so we did not make a reservation ahead of time. The courteous staff gave us a site (full hookup) and also said the site next to ours was also available and we could choose that one if we wanted and to call if we wanted to have that one. We did exactly that. We found the campground to be quiet (mid week, off season) which is what we wanted. We do not have kids so cannot comment on any of the kid friendly amenities or activities. We also took advantage of the off-season special (pay for 3 nights and get 4 nights) which made this campground less expensive than any others in the area for our stay. The free wifi worked perfectly fine for our needs and we had great signal strength at our site. We would definitely stay here again as the campground is very convenient for hiking and sight seeing in the White Mountains.

We initially booked when this campground was privately owned. The pandemic pushed our reservation a year and when we returned to this campground it was something completely different. The location is still top notch, but if you are looking for a quiet camping experience, this is not for you. The price has been inflated due to all the activities. If you plan on staying at the campground and doing all the crafts, parades, other group activities you may like this place. But if you prefer a low-key place this is not it. Loud parades driving through the campground at 9:15pm and at any point of the day. Anyone can rent golf carts and they allow their kids who are not responsible and drunk people to speed around. Cars have to drive 5mph, but no such limit for the golf carts, even the ones staff are driving. It's too bad this family friendly campground turned into a family resort. The inflated price is only worth it if you plan to spend your whole time on resort. We will not be back. Which is a pity because it's a great location.

Hi there, and thank you for your review! You booked your stay at an interesting time, right before we made some big changes to the park! We apologize if you feel like you didn't get what you booked. This is our busiest time of the year, and we do have many families and kiddos running around having fun. If you're looking for a more peaceful stay, then we would suggest visiting us during our non-peak season. Please know that if you ever feel unsafe at our Camp-Resort due to the golf carts or anything else, you can notify our on site staff and we'll gladly help. The safety of our campers is always the top priority. We appreciate your feedback, and please take care.

We just returned from our 19th consecutive Columbus Day camping trip to this campground. We were pleasantly surprised to find that most of the changes didn’t have an impact on our site (still beautiful right on the river) or our activities. However, with the new owners, there are some good changes but mostly bad. On the positive side, the new dog park is really nice. It was smart to move the camp store to the middle of the park. Check-in and check-out are very easy and fast. And having a working water hose at the dumping station was a pleasant surprise. On the down side, the golf carts are everywhere, day and night, with young kids driving them. We had several golf carts cut through our campsite (even in the dark of night) and we asked each of them to “Please not drive through our site”. One responded with “I’m the GM” which explains a lot; if the employees don’t follow the rules why should the guests? They definitely are looking to make this place a big money maker. You cannot bring in outside firewood and they charge you $8 for 5 pieces of wood. Our same site next year will cost 3x as much! We camp in a lot of campgrounds and $169 a night for a campsite is way more than we've paid at other places. To cap it all we won’t be able to stay on the same site because an employee broke the rules and allowed people to book more than 351 days in advance. We'll give them one more year to see if they can work out some of these issues.

Hello, thank you so much for your review! We appreciate that you came to camp with an open mind this season and we're so glad to hear that you enjoyed our riverfront campsites, the dog park, the Ranger Station, and new our check-in/out process. In regards to the golf carts, we are sorry to hear that people were driving through your site and otherwise not using them properly. When everyone follows the rules, the golf carts allow campers to get across the campground swiftly so they can enjoy as much as they can, but this was clearly not the case here. We will be sharing your experience with our team at the park so we can improve for next season. Unfortunately we cannot allow our guests to bring their own firewood. This is not our decision, but rather a mandate by the state of New Hampshire. We provide firewood for purchase at our campground to prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. Finally, we apologize for the confusion regarding your reservation. We know that many of our campers have favorite sites and we want to accommodate that as best we can. When you're booking online, there is a 351 day lock, but if you book in person or over the phone, this is not the case. You are allowed to rebook your favorite campsite the day you check out of the campground. Thank you so much again for your feedback. This season was a lot of "firsts" for us and we intend to improve even more in 2021. Please take care, and we hope to see you soon!

We took our two young kids for a long weekend and had a great time. We stayed in one of the cabins across from the pool and it was fabulous! Cabin kitchen was stocked with plates, cups, silverware, pots, pans, grill utensils - everything we could need. We fit a pack & play in the bedroom (kind of a tight fit, but it worked) and used the bottom bunk for our 3 year old. Didn't use the loft, but it was a big space though not a lot of head room, so really just for sleeping and storing stuff. Cabin had AC so we were very comfortable, and large porch was great for extra living space. We also had a fire pit, picnic table and charcoal grill at our cabin. Everything was immaculate (though I honestly think we were the first people to ever stay there!). Only complaint was that we didn't get great Wifi or phone signal, and none of the TVs worked. But we brought an iPad with a few downloaded movies on it and that worked great for us. The campground offered so many activities, and essentials are all within walking distance (onsite store, small grocery store up the road plus an liquor store, ice cream shop and coffee place). Will definitely go back!

Hi Mallory, thank you so much for your kind review! Thanks for your feedback regarding our wi-fi and TVs. We're aware that the wi-fi can be spotty depending on your location in the park, and we're looking to find ways to improve. Our TVs only work with the DVD players that come with the cabin. We're glad you had an awesome stay overall, and we hope to see you soon!

We started going to this campground when it was owned by the original folks of Glen Ellis. Since the ownership change and now being owned by the Yogi bear corporation, it’s all about more cabins more expense and less about everyone of all ages enjoying their camping experience. There are some of us who still enjoy going to a campground where families do things together… Not mom and dad sitting by a hot tub outside their cabin while the children enjoy hourly activities to keep them entertained. The original Glen Ellis used to be that kind of campground. Today a normal campsite with full hook ups is far too expensive, a cabin is insanely priced, and everything is extra…extra for activities, extra for showers, extra extra extra. Hence the title of this review it’s all about the money. Just look at the eight or nine cabins stacked just a few feet apart in front of the camp store and jump pad. The rate nightly for those cabins surprises even those of us who have the money to pay for it. Oh and by the way Yogi bear corporation, just because you can charge what you do, doesn’t mean you should. You have done a great job of pushing away all of those campers that have loved Glen Ellis Campground for years and years and who no longer feel the family ownership sentiment. It should be noted that most of the staff are very friendly people and willing to help make your stay enjoyable. Sadly we won’t be coming back - It’s just not worth the money… Not by a long shot.

Hi there, and thank you for your honest review. We're so glad to hear that you've been coming to our park for years and that you like our friendly staff! We've decided to add cabins for our visitors who enjoy the conveniences of home, but there are still many traditional sites around the park. We also work very hard to offer a plethora of activities that appeal not just to kids, but to anyone who might be staying with us (live bands, dance parties, wine tastings, team games, etc). We apologize that your stay was not the greatest, but we do truly try to make this campground as good as it can be for our variety of different campers. In regards to our rates, please remember that there are also ways to save money on your stay! We offer many deals that can be found on our website, available anytime throughout the season. We also offer the Club Yogi Rewards program, which allows you to gather discount points to use on future reservations. We understand that the experience we offer isn't for everyone though, and we're sorry to see you go. Please know that you're always welcome to camp with us if you choose.

I went to their sister campground Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park - Lakes Region last year and really enjoyed it so I thought we would try this one. Oh what a mistake. They have stacked the campsites one on top of another. I felt bad for the camper behind us. His fire-it practically sat on our waste pipe, yuck. There was some confusion on sites we reserved initially and there staff was not helpful at all. The pool was green and really not usable. Management should have acknowledge the pool has broke and given some kind of certificate for free ice cream or something else. We paid a premium. I spoke with several long term campers who were unhappy with the changes being made and were not coming back next year. Management is putting profit well ahead of their customer's experience. My wife and I both agreed we would not return...

Hi Peter, thank you for this review! We're glad you liked our Lakes Region location and that you wanted to give us a try. We appreciate your feedback regarding the spacing of our cabins and campsites -- we think that future campers will find this helpful when they're booking their site. We're so sorry about the difficulty making a reservation. Our staff should be the most knowledgable and helpful people at the time of booking, and we apologize that it was more difficult than it needed to be. We will pass along your experience to our staff so we can be better. Lastly, thank you for your note regarding our pool. You're right, it should be kept clean at all times and we can work to improve our housekeeping procedures. We have passed this along to our staff as well. Thank you again for your feedback. I haven't been there during that time period, but have camped many times in the area. The answer is that it's highly dependent on two things: timing and the presence of dragonflies. I have a cabin just west of there on a pond. The black flies and mosquitos are non-existant in early May, HORRIBLE in the first two weeks of June when the eggs hatch and non-existant when the dragonflies hatch around June 15 (they eat their weight in the nasty bugs each day).
Not a lot of traffic on other side of the Saco, barely noticeable. As already noted the train goes through several times a day, you can hear that
Only after Labor Day weekend.
