The other reviews are accurate---you can hear noise from the highway 24/7. Personally, it didn't bother me too much, but for those looking for a nature getaway, this may not be the place. The toilets and showers were very clean and I was able to get warm-ish water when showering. A major thing I noticed was that the campsites vary... More

Strongly suggest staying away from this campground. Poorly maintained and extremely small sites. We were literally 15 feet from our neighbors with nothing in between but mud. We actually left early, forfeited our site fees (they will not refund ... you have to MAIL a refund request to the NH Parks Dept), and stayed at a campground outside the Notch... More

Average wooded campground with decent facilities, but too close to Route 95. Traffic noise exists 24 hours a day. Not exactly getting in touch with nature. It is however right at a trailhead leading to some excellent hikes across some 4000 footers.

Spent 4 night weekend at Lafayette staying on site 30. Large site, big enough for 3 room tent, chairs around the fire pit, screen house over the picnic table as well as parking for our kayak trailer and truck. Bathroom facilities are clean and modern, with 5 minute showers costing $1.00. They also have a clothes dryer in the bath... More

Nice place to stay for a weekend. Never stayed for longer than weekend. There are things to do by NH state parks. Echo lake beach 34c which is very popular. Nice to visit when very hot. Right at base of cannon mountain

The setting is beautiful, hiking is great (from walks along paved paths to up-mountain trails) and the grounds are well kept. But, it is noisy, sounding more like an urban setting. There is plenty of space for young children to play and explore.

The camp is clean, organized and situated next to absolutely gorgeous trails and scenery. The downside is that it is right next to the freeway, so you hear the traffic all the time. And then there is the bear safety concerns. The extent of the guidelines the manager provided was to tell us not to leave food out, and dishes... More

My husband and I camped here for two nights in June. Just like the other reviewers mentioned the noise from the highway was unbearable. The staff at the convince the store was very friendly and helpful. They have quiet hours from 10pm to 7am. The camp ground is very quiet even during non quiet hours. This is a good hub... More

Yes there are trucks down shifting but if you spent the day hiking they wont keep you up. We were woken by 1 or 2 per night, it's quick and you're back to sleep. If you want you can sleep with ear plugs but I recommend only one so you can listen for bears. Yes there are bears on the... More

Yep, it's noisy -- the trucks run all night on the highway and the sounds travels way up the valley walls. But if you can deal with that (and it isn't really THAT bad), then this is Hiking Central. Awesome trails lead right out of the campground, ranging from flat and easy (and scenic) to moderate, with some exercise involved,... More
