Roving 226 We have had the very fortunate opportunity to stay at this Inn over the past few years while we visit our parents nearby. Each time feels like we are coming home. Always a warm and friendly welcome, top notch accommodations, excellent food and beverage, and endless selection of amenities including fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The inn and the family that runs it are top notch and have clearly mastered the art of inn keeping. PS: We just read the Roving 226 review and we have no idea where they are coming from. None of the comments were based in reality. We guess that this person will never find happiness anywhere in the world.

Thank you for your wonderful comments, it reassures us of what we do best. We pride ourselves in offering excellent hospitality services and the reviews themselves highlight just that with a score of 5/5 overall! It was lovely having you stay with us once again, maybe next time you can join us during the warm weather months so you can spend time in our patio and garden enjoying a meal from Ambrose Restaurant! Cheers

Terrible experience. Limited parking 4-5 spaces, no heating in the room, dirty toilet brush and stained paintwork around the door frame, no vanity or tea/coffee in the room. No offer to carry bags up two narrow stairs. BWB (bed without breakfast) paid $650 for one night, even though their website claims to be a bed and breakfast it does not include breakfast you have to pay extra. The surrounding area is beautiful, the Inn felt run down and definitely not worth the price.

My husband, son and I recently stayed for one night at the Inn by the Bandstand on our way to our son's summer camp and we are so glad we discovered this wonderful inn. A 10 in ambiance and hospitality, we were immediately greeted by the owner/innkeeper who showed us to our room and the common areas, soft indirect music, flowers, and amazing decor, You can immediately notice an exquisite attention to detail. Our room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean (only regret, no coffeemaker in the room), and service was top-notch from check-in all the way to breakfast. There is a restaurant on the property with a beautiful outdoor dining area, the flowers in this area are again amazing, they serve small plates (tapas), and all the plates we tried were from good to wonderful, a great combination of food, service, and ambiance. Breakfast was served in a cozy dining room, we had the opportunity to meet the chef, passionate about food and very creative, which we love, everything we tried was amazing. I also enjoyed the parlor room where you can have a coffee (complimentary) or sip a glass of wine. The inn is right in the middle of town, we had no time to stroll around but it would have been nice to take a walk right from the inn and explore. Overall it was a very nice experience, it was the highlight of our trip to camp this year. Thank you, Inn by the Bandstand!

We stopped here for one night on a long road trip, it was by far the best Inn we stayed at. The room was lovely, good quality bedding, towels and robes. Spotlessly clean with attention to detail. We only wish we could have stayed longer. The only negatives were the room was quite noisy being on the main road at the front of the property and it was also the most expensive Inn we stopped at. Having said that we felt it was worth it. Also there was no chef working so couldn’t have breakfast so cant review the food. We stayed in the Phillips suite.

Thank you for your feedback, we value your comments and do everything possible to provide you with a memorable experience. Being part of a historical community in an antique building dating back to the 1800s, it can be challenging to keep the noise down being in the downtown area. Breakfast is now being offered daily a la carte with an advanced reservation. It was a pleasure having you stay with us, thank you again for sharing!

This was the second time I was blessed to experience the Inn by the Bandstand. The first time was in June 2021, when my family (brothers, sister-in-law) flew in while our Dad was in hospice at nearby RiverWoods. Of course, we were all an emotional wreck but after spending a beautiful evening on the back terrace on a hot June night, drinking wine and chatting with Jaime, we began to relax. He didn't need to join us but he went out of his way to do so. His hospitality and compassion was exemplary and so appreciated! After a wonderful night's sleep in what used to be the Exeter Suite, we thoroughly enjoyed a morning breakfast treat from Chef Stanley. The ala carte menu was perfect to get exactly what you would like and the AM cocktails were fabulous! Fast forward to my latest visit on Friday 4/21/23. Again, my brother and sister-in-law were in town from CO for a few nights to visit our Mom at RiverWoods. I chose to spend one night at the Inn with them, in which Jaime graciously upgraded my room to the beautiful Abenaki "Cottage" Suite on the 3rd floor- WOW!! Beautiful wood, distressed barn boards, exquisite bedding, rugs, curtain shades in warm colors. Oh and yes, the pillows are unbelievable! Dinner at Otis next door was incredible! Another great night of relaxation, good times with family, a delivery of wine from Jaime per our request, and of course, a fabulous night of sleep with a yummy breakfast from the very talented Chef Stanley the next morning! Can't wait to visit Jaime and Stanley very soon! Thank you both for such amazing experiences at your Inn!

The beauty and quality of the Inn by the Bandstand is matched by the superb hospitality provided by innkeeper Jaime, who made our 2 night stay especially memorable. The Adams Suite is spectacular; the furnishings recreate the ambience of early New England, when sea captains brought back treasures from the East to decorate their homes. Especially appreciated was the fireplace, where we relaxed with a book and glass of wine. The in-house restaurant Ambrose provided delicious breakfasts, and a memorable tapas-style dinner prepared by Chef Stanley, who took the time to explain the various and delicious courses. We live in New Hampshire, and this was a perfect mid-winter staycation. We highly recommend a stay at this amazing property!

I stayed at the Inn at the Bandstand in October 2022 while on a fall foliage trip with my 81 year old parents. We had already been traveling for several days and had been frustrated with the rooms at a couple of places that we stayed. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in and we have traveled extensively in the US and Europe. The decor is amazing, the attention to detail is so noticeable. The foyer had lovely autumnal flowers and everything was shiny and clean. When we arrived one of the wonderful owners told us that he was upgrading my room so I could be across the hall from my parents. The rooms were heavenly! My room (The Adams) was large and sunny and had lovely furniture and beautiful marble sinks and modern bathroom. The bed was so comfortable and the sheets nice and crisp. My parents had an equally gorgeous room. My parents collect antiques and were very impressed with the quality of the furniture throughout the Inn. Now, let's talk about dinner. After a beautiful walk through the charming town of Exeter, we had drinks in the living room before dinner. The owner made my mother a delicious drink called a Paper Plane with bourbon and Aperol. The living room was just as gorgeous as the rest of the inn. Then we went in to dinner. I had gnocchi with sausage and zucchini in a spicy relajo sauce. The chef is from El Salvador and told us he enjoys using sauces and spicy from his country. It was delicious!! The restaurant was serene and had very comfy chairs. When traveling with Octogenarians, you need a calm, quiet restaurant and this was perfect--they could hear easily. After a restful night's sleep, we went downstairs for breakfast. I had the Torrejas, which is a Latin French toast with the most wonderful sauce called Panela. I can't accurately describe the depth of flavor in this breakfast dish. We are already planning when we can get back to Inn at the Bandstand and stay longer. It was a terrific experience!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Inn at the end of a 3 week New England vacation. It’s a beautifully decorated historic home with excellent amenities. The rooms are impeccable and the location is perfect for walking in town. Close to everything. We selected this inn at the end of our trip because its restaurant (Ambrose)had such fabulous reviews. Unfortunately, our dining experience didn’t turn out well. We were seated at 6:30 and 40 minutes later we left without receiving any service. I recognize that only the owner and chef were available to manage the restaurant. However, there were only 5 tables in the restaurant! While we waited everyone else seemed to be fawned over - I suppose they were important repeat guests. So, I understand that the owner wanted to be sure they were well treated. But, again, there were only 5 tables. It should not have been difficult to notice we had nothing on our table for a long , long time. I tried to get his attention, but he was so busy with other guests, I couldn’t. I’m sure based on the restaurants great reviews this is a very rare occurrence. And, I’ll bet the cuisine is fabulous. We just didn’t get the opportunity to see for ourselves. My wife and I have eaten at many of the finest restaurants in the world. This situation has never occurred. And, I hope it doesn’t again, because it really made us feel like an unwelcome guest. To the owners credit he offered us an apology and free desert. Unfortunately, the evening was already ruined. To little, to late.

We stayed 3 nights at the Inn by the Bandstand. The property and house are impeccably kept. The room decor was just lovely. The location is perfect amidst restaurants, shopping and historical sites. But besides the wonderful ambience and location, the innkeepers are marvelous. Friendly, kind and fonts of knowledge about local history, places to go, food suggestions and just about anything you'd want to know. They absolutely made this a wonderful vacation stay. Also of note is the restaurant inside the Inn-The Ambrose-a definite dinner stop. Delicious, creative cuisine and lovely dining experience. Can't say enough!
