The rooms are very comfortable and retain the character of the mill building where it is located. Spacious room, nicely equiped bathroom. My only criticism is the TV--does not offer HD programming which makes it very difficult to watch.
This place is a real gem. It is a beautifully and correctly renovated old mill. They kept all of the character and lots of the old features without sacrificing modern conveniences. Our room (224), had a full view of a waterfall on the river. The staff was also super nice. I highly recommend this inn if you are in the neighborhood.
We are huge fans of the Common Man restaurant and decided on a weekend at their inn in Claremont. The positives: extremely clean, following Covid guidelines. Gas fireplace was great. The negatives: we had the Sunapee Suite. The mattress was old and uncomfortable. As the room was huge and the 32 inch tv a good 16 feet away, tv viewing was minimal. There was absolutely no decor in the room. Not a picture. Nothing. It was gloomy at best. For $260 per night I expected better.
recently had dinner with a friend-great cocktails, appetizers and dinner--service superb as always--portions amazing on appetizers and dinner--definitely would recommend to anyone visiting or living here--a must place to visit
The room was nice The bed was comfortable The temperature was great I set it for 60 during the night but in the morning we put it to 68 and it was perfect in minutes My only issues was the person who checked me in. He was not personal He was not very friendly and acted like I was bothering him We had to park in the parking garage which is ok but you have to walk back and not all the sidewalks were cleared for walking in the snow I was a little nervous cause I saw a sign that said 10 hours only. Hoping my car would not be towed
I can't give it a 5 perfect rating because we had a few hiccups. Love the inn and the restaurant and the service was good. Our suite was awesome and spacious but smelled overwhelmingly musty to the point that I sneezed for our whole 2 day stay. Bed was comfy. Towels and robes were lush. Shower was great! Both tvs were set to the wrong setting so pic was super small, we figured out how to fix it for the next guests! We ate dinner at the bar and ordered off the regular menu. Despite the heading above the entrees we ordered which read: DINNERS INCLUDE FRESH BAKED BREAD, WHIPPED BUTTER, FRESH VEGETABLE, POTATO OR RICE, CHEESE, CRACKERS, DIPS, WHITE CHOCOLATE AND LOTS OF PRIDE, we didn't get any crackers and cheese or bread and butter, and i was so looking forward to the white chocolate i had at a Common Man 20 years ago, but that didn't come either. The chicken pie was delicious, but the promised sides were absent, no veggie, no starch. Cosmo was delicious. Lastly, the continental breakfast choices were good, but my boyfriend got moldy yogurt and moldy jam! The ambiance was great and friendly staff though.…
I went to Claremont to visit a business client. The people I went to see recommended the Common Man for both lodging and dinner. Being a city boy, I chuckled at the idea of staying at the Common Man Inn while visiting a small town. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. First, as I see it, it's really the only hotel choice in Claremont. Yes, there are technically a couple of other offerings, but just not at the level that most of us require. So they really didn't need to spend all that money to convert an old mill into a rustic lodge. But they did. Every part of the property was rustic, yet none of it felt "old." Rooms were spacious, well designed, and the beds were very comfortable. Common areas were above average, and quaint. The small town general store right in the lobby was nice - I was able to buy my wife a nice little souvenir without having to go to, well, they probably don't have a souvenir shop in town. This review is not about the restaurant, but just in case I don't have time to review that, everything above applies plus the food and service were good. Back to the hotel - it had a great view overlooking Sugar River, complete with its own waterfall. You could not have asked for a better view. Inside, after a nice dinner with my clients and colleagues, I wanted to relax a bit before bed. No worries - the hot tub area took care of that. It looks like they converted one or two sleeping rooms into a hot tub room. It was nice, clean, hot, and private. In the morning, I availed myself of the free continental breakfast. I would have hoped for a nice hot breakfast in the restaurant, but it was not open. The free continental breakfast was very adequate - adequate choices, adequate quality, adequate seating area. Considering there weren't other options nearby, it was quite satisfactory. Overall, I was quite pleased and pleasantly surprised. Most likely you need to have a reason to be in Claremont to go here, unless it's for a wedding or the like. But you won't be disappointed.…
We have just spent two nights at this delightful Inn. Rooms were clean although we didn’t like the bed and found the topper was too soft. The Inn was full of history and the outside buildings were beautiful. The common man restaurant had happy hour which could be spent outside on the balcony overlooking the river. If you are interested in old buildings that have been renovated this is certainly one to visit. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. We would certainly visit again.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lady at the desk even helped me plot out some other places to see in southern New Hampshire. The view of the Sugar River from our room was beautiful. There is a bridge near the hotel that leads to some stairs that will take you to a visitors' center.
Lovely renovated textile mill. The rooms are welcoming and not cookie cutter. Everything was spotlessly clean and the bed so comfortable. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Continental breakfast is great-they have breakfast sandwiches which you usually don't find. We just had apps and drinks in the restaurant. Enjoyed talking to our bartender Jay. Almost escargot are very good and the chicken tacos are plentiful. Will definitely stay here again next time we're in the area.
