The AMC does a fantastic job providing a comfortable lodge in a mountainous setting. I recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors, as its access to trails, peaks, ponds, and adventure is unparalleled. My one complaint is with the interior lighting. While I fully realize the AMC is trying to be environmentally conscious by emplying low-wattage lighting, they really go overboard in that direction with lighting that is so dim and cold as to be mildly depressing. The first floor common areas are fine, but the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms, hallways, and common areas have an unfriendly and cold feeling. I tried reading a book up there but could not find any space where the light was enough to make for comfortable reading, even under a "reading" lamp in the commons area. I would advise a better balance between energy conservation and human comfort by increasing the lumens and using warmer light frequencies.

These guys helped get my car out of a snow bank with shovels. Pat and the rest of the crew are awesome!! I was just a stranger who's car was stuck down the road. I showed up and they had all hands on deck trying to get a tow truck for me and giving me ideas. At the end it was hard labor that got my car out, awesome team, felt like family.

Love the lodge! It’s like a dorm for families. Rooms are simple clean and comfortable. Our family of 4 stayed in a room with 2 sets of bunk beds. We used the shared bathrooms (there are options for private bathrooms). The communal meals are a highlight — salmon chicken salad soup vegan ravioli with lentils desserts beer wine tea. Amazing. Hiking right out the door. We’ve stayed a number of times mid to late fall and the hiking is spectacular (full winter mode hiking to be sure). Can’t wait to go back.

Opposite a scenic view of Bretton Woods forest and next to scenic railway station this outward bound centre does really good food. Staff are really friendly. Hostel / refractory environment. Try the vegan chilli it’s amazing. The sandwiches are “built” by hand to order and you can either choose from menu or they’ll do bespoke!

Nice hotel with option for shared baths and bunk room if desired. Food is good. Staff is great and they all promote the outdoors.org mission of getting more people outside and protecting nature and trails and the environment. Kudos to AMC for all they do. We stayed here and a couple night s at high mountain huts. They do a fabulous job and the trails and outdoor experience so great.
