I used to live in Boston, and BVI was one of the places I’d like to visit and stay. I came this time for a leadership meeting and this place was even better than 8 years ago. They had a new building, the Grand,as extension. Newer and spacious rooms, nice bed and pillow ! Breakfast came with the room - was healthy and delicious! The grounds were lovely and the surrounding wooded areas are as beautiful and relaxing as before. Glad I had the chance to revisit !

I picked this hotel due to its proximity to my work location the following day. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff (Amy & Ryan were great company at The Lobby Bar). Food was delicious! I was thrilled with the large bathtub and accompanying bath salts. The 4-post bed and entire room were so welcoming. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Now for the BUT. We were here for a wedding and there was a lot of family visiting from out of town. Quiet hours for the lobby bar and patio begin at 9 pm outside and 10 pm inside. Our first night there, Amy, one of the managers even shut the lights off in the lobby at 11 pm when we were stilling enjoying conversation. You are not allowed beverages from your room in the lobby. I had a drink with me from my room. I sent it on the table where I was sitting, next to my 2 cell phones. When I stood up to hug a family member, Amy took my drink, glass and all. Between the aggressive non-verbal body language from Amy and another security guard gentleman, they make you feel very unwelcoming. The night of the wedding, the same security guard stood in the reception watching all guests. After the reception, several of us were waiting for an Uber to take us to our next destination. The security guard stood next to us outside the whole time. The DJ was cut off mid song at 11 pm sharp and all guests were ushered out of the reception room. I get this place is highly rated in the wedding world and they are doing their job to make the grounds stay nice, however, it is very off putting how guests are treated here. If you want a quiet weekend with no alcohol, you will love this place. If you plan on conversating with family and friends and having a beverages, this is not the place for you.

Thank you for your time writing this review on your experience. The details in your review were quite concerning! I immediately began by speaking to the parties mentioned in your review, and based on their reaction, I can assure you neither of them ever meant to make you feel unwelcome! The Lobby Bar is a licensed service area, and allowing alcoholic beverages after hours, not served by the Bedford Village Inn directly, could jeopardize our liquor license according to NH law. My sincere apologies that this was not communicated to you! Our security officer is here as a precautionary source to ensure the safety of our guests and staff. Our intent is never to make anyone feel uncomfortable, only secure and safe. If you would like to further discuss your concerns, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity. Warm Regards, Candace Burgess Director of Lodging Candaceb@bedfordvillageinn.com

Met friends here to have lunch and sat on the patio at BVI and the following day, we met for drinks on the patio at the Grand. Much to my surprise even though there is a busy roadway behind the BVI patio, it was secluded and fairly quiet. The lobster roll was to die for. I have never had a bad meal here and always impeccable service!

We have had some miscues with BVI before but decided that summer is here and so let's go do the patio thing that we love. The patio space is a relaxing oasis even though busy 101 is just feet away. They now have a super cool waterfall that detracts some of the traffic noise but more important it is a nice feel to the space. So if you go Monday thru Wednesday you get buck-a-shuck. As an oyster hater I couldn't care less but my DP loves those slimy fishy things. She said they were probably the best she has ever tasted. Wellfleet, super plump and very enjoyable. Not being an oyster eater I have to trust her judgment and for a buck a piece the dozen was a super value. For our main course, my DP ordered the farmer's greens but asked for scallops on top (not an option on the menu). The waitress was unsure if scallops was an option and said she would ask the chef. Low and behold, the salad arrived with plump, well cooked scallops on top of a beautiful salad. Thank you chef, just perfect., I decided on a dish I would never imagine on having, the french dip. OMG, that was to die for, Niman ranch beef is some of the best beef you can get (if you are lucky) and this was no disappointment. The bread was super fresh, the cheese was light and not over powering and the au jus was to die for. What a super sandwich, with awesome fries. Our server was super attentive, a little disheveled but friendly and very helpful, no complaints at all. The patio at BVI is just awesome in the summer, get there early as it is not large and it is well known to folks that like really good food NH
