Cottonwood Guest Ranch is a working horse and cattle ranch located in the remote northeastern corner of Nevada.DescriptionFrom exciting horse drives to cattle drives, ranch vacations to stunning mountain pack trips, winter recreation to bird and wildlife viewing, corporate retreats and weddings to family vacations, we have it all! Join one of our scheduled events or design the experience of your dreams.Five generations of the Smith family have owned and operated the Ranch. For over sixty years Cottonwood Ranch has offered a warm, western welcome to the many guests who have shared this beautiful place that the Smiths call home. Located 30 miles from paved highway and 70 miles from the nearest town, Cottonwood Ranch is an unexpected hospitable sanctuary amid a sea of rolling sage covered hills and alpine mountains that seem to go on forever. The Ranch rests in the historic O'Neil Basin, once home to notorious cattle rustlers. At an elevation of just over 6,000 feet, the average summer temperatures are in the low 80's. This corner of Nevada boasts the purest air in the lower 48 states. To quote one ranch visitor, "Our days were filled with air so clean you could feel it and country so beautiful, just being there was enough."

We spent a few days in the most beautiful, peaceful country with the nicest hosts. The wholesome food was deliciously prepared by the Ranch's chef. We rode horses with the sweetest and calmest demeanors, hiked gorgeous back country and relaxed to our heart's content. We...More

As I sit here my last morning here at the ranch, I am blown away by any low rating this place has been given. I was somewhat influenced by the one stars here and there, but my gut told me just to remain positive. I...More

We visited Cottonwood @ the end of summer last year. My husband participated in horse & cattle roundups. I spent my time hiking & helping deliver the lunches each day to the riders. My husband returned in Oct for a hunting trip. We enjoyed ourselves so much we wanted to return for the fall horse & cattle roundup. We did not see it on the event calendar for this year. I also would like to try horseback riding this year. I am DEFINITELY a beginner. Are you planning to schedule the drives this fall? Also the riders returned each night to the ranch which was really nice for "old" people like us. We have another couple interested in coming for a fall roundup. Please let us know. Everyone was very helpful & we talked to our friends about our trip I am sure they got tired of hearing about my husband "the cowboy" & his great experiences @ Cottonwood Ranch. Thanks Bev & Bill Keller

Hello Alison, Multiple rides are available to those who stay for a ranch stay as well. While the horse drives tend to be a bit heavier riding, we like to get out for long rides during regular stays as well. We like to... More
