Tripadvisor gives a Travelers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We go to Virginia City pretty much every year around Halloween as it is a great town wide costume party. We always stay at the Comstock Lodge. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the owner, Randie, is very friendly and accommodating. She trays us like family! This year we brought along 5 other couples and we all had a nice stay. Place looks a little rough from the outside but don’t judge a book by it’s cover! The price is right and the rooms are very cozy and super CLEAN! We all recommend the Comstock!

Was not expecting to stay in Virginia city and called for a room late in the day. The owner was very warm and friendly and made me up a room quickly. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, the shower was hot and the bed was comfortable. The price made it even more pleasant. I plan to come back and stay again soon. Don’t pass up this little gem!

This little roadside lodge was perfect for a getaway. The owner is super friendly and takes great pride in how this place is run. The rooms are clean and very cozy. The room I had was fantastic. I haven't slept that good in a long time. This was a very welcoming experience.

Do not let the outer appearance of the Comstock Lodge affect your decision. The rooms are charming, warm and cozy. Each room is designed a little differently, and the beds are very comfortable. Stay there if at all possible.

Our Family has spent many times at the Comstock Lodge. The owners Bob and Randi will go out of their way to make you feel like home. Virginia City, Nevada is a very special place to visit but your stay at the "Comtock Lodge" will be an extra treat for you and your family.

We have always loved Virginia City but we had only been there in the summer and never spent the night. We found the Comstock Lodge on trip advisor and it sounded like just what we were looking for. We checked in on a nice winter day; sunny but chilly. The morning we were to leave, we woke up to at least a foot of snow! The owner was so helpful to us! She called restaurants to see if any of them were open to feed us. She found us the number to Amtrak to see if our train was on time and she even shoveled snow from in front of our wheels! It was an incredible experience! One that we thought was surely from a long-time ago period of people really caring about the welfare of their guests! We highly recommend the Comstock Lodge not only for the owners but for the cozy, warm, and unique rooms.

I read about this lodge on tripadvisor and decided to try it. Because I am a practical person and there was not any information about the rooms themselves I wanted to post the following...our room had a TV and a coffee maker, no microwave, phone or fridge, if you need these you need to know this. We had trouble with the wi-fi. The curtains on the windows are sheer. This hotel is within walking distance of the town. The owners are friendly. We actually found the hotel quiet even though there were people on both sides of us. Also, in spite of the condition of the door we had a nice warm room. We enjoyed our stay, I don't want to make it sound bad, just to give more info. Definitely eat at the Cafe Del Rio!!

The Comstock Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. The owners, Bob & Randi will definately put a smile on your face and give you that warm feeling long lost in todays society of gogogogogo. They will bend over backwards to help you out. We have stayed at the lodge several times throught the years and the rooms have always been neat and clean and well stocked with towels. The rooms are cute and the beds are comfortable! If you're looking for a 5 star resort complete with room service and a sterile environment, this is not the place for you. If yo are looking for a place that truly makes you feel at home inside and outside of the room then your best bet is to stay the The Comstock Lodge!

Hi. This is the most recent visit. I have stayed here at the Comstock lodge each time I make my annual road trip (and sometimes 2ce a year) to Virginia City. I have stayed in several different rooms at this lodge, depending on whether I am just by myself or with friends or family. I feel like home here and Randi and Bob allow me to call them mom and dad when I first arrive through the office door, despite my age. I have always been comfortable and warm, and felt like home and family, as they are just as warm and friendly as that. I have stayed in summer, winter and spring and fall. The rooms are always clean, the coffee pot is always stocked, also with cocoa, which is what I prefer. The rooms all have some sort of antique furniture and give that old-timey feeling of living in such an historical town. Getting a reservation is just a phone call away, most of the time I am only half way there. I have them on speed dial. I live in northwestern WA. And if I get there too late, my key is taped to the office door waiting for me. Randi and Bob, and sometimes their family members, are always going out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The water pressure and temperature in the bathrooms are excellent. and invigorating. I would recommend these accommodations to anyone out there who wants a reasonably priced room to stay while you roam the "hills of home".

After spending 3 days in the hussle-bussle of Reno it was a joy to discover the peace and quiet of Virginia City and a great kept secret, the Comstock Lodge. The rooms are each different, furnished with antiques, but have TV with Cable and coffee pots. Like another review said...do not let the outer looks affect your decision. The rooms are indeed charming and the rates are very reasonable.
It is a wonderful place to stay, the owners are very caring and cordial and we plan to stay there again, as often as we can.

"Parking is a challenge so if you have a large vehicle, it might block other vehicles from pulling through to leave. Taking a shower might be challenging, as the shower valve in the faucet didn't work so well. Also, shower early in the morning or later in the afternoon for the best hot water. I showered at around 9am and the water was tepid at best. The views are "eh". Overall this is the best place I've stayed at compared to anywhere else in town for the price."
