So I did stay here some years back and was OK. My wife wanted to experience a stay here, so after reading the new owners are making a serious effort rehabbing the rooms, I reserved a suite. Room was clean, but beyond needing serious work. Shower did not function and all the plastic was so scared up, it was ready for the dump, towel rack was hanging by a thread, a half patched hole in the wall, and only 2 towels. There were so many ferrel cats running around with kittens of all ages, it was heart breaking. Our neighbor for the evening, captured a 4 or 5 week kitten and was taking it home. They deserve to be finned by the humane society. Other guest were hoping to see a ghost , but did not hear any sightings. They are getting a reputation by all the locals as being a real SH-T HOLE. We paid $130. for maybe a $50. room Never again!!!

One doesn’t necessarily stay here for the comfort, but to say they’ve stayed at the Clown Motel. This motel has been on my radar for the last couple years being billed as America’s scariest Motel and I finally embarked on a journey that brought me by this motel. First off I can’t stress enough how friendly the staff was at check in. The room we got was most certainly run down. The TV blinked every now and then, but the beds were clean and comfortable enough, the AC was cold and it was 107 outside, the shower was hot and the fridge and microwave worked. There were some things of concern, like no smoke detector and a strange wire running under the rug from the outlet. But it was cheap and there after long drive across the hot desert. I’m glad I stayed here but if I find my way through these parts I doubt I’ll stay here again, I’ve had my fill.

if this is Tonopahs best reason to come. DONT. They are trying to remodle.... with duct tape on the carpet. Smoke alarm broken and hanging off the wall. If you ask for a cleaner room (like the stock photos) they tell you all the rooms are the same. Window wouldnt lock, screen broken, AC blew like an asthmatic baby, towels used for remodeling. Just AWEFUL. THOUGHT it would be a fun adventure. Nope we left. Manager was a total JERK!

I made my reservation never having visited before. The proprietor told me everything had been remodeled and the motel was very clean. NOT!! The floor was filthy, marks on the walls, a very poorly maintained place. The beds were clean and I inspected the sheets, pillow cases and pillows themselves. No problem there but overall impression is very seedy and not at all comfortable. At least the A/C worked but there there was only a sheet and bedspread and we all know those are seldom changed out. I won't go back. Could not get the WIFI to connect.

The owner is one of the most pleasant human beings I've met. The room was immaculate and modern. The clown decor is quirky, and not unsettling. The cemetary next door was just an added bonus. 10/10!!!
