Harveys Lake Tahoe Resort & Casino offers a prime location favored by guests for its proximity to local attractions and scenic views, though reviewers have expressed frustration over unexpected additional charges like parking and resort fees. While the hotel's dining options are a plus, opinions on the atmosphere are split, with some guests enjoying the room sizes but many calling out the need for renovations. Service at the hotel often falls short, with reports of inattentiveness and housekeeping issues. The rooms, criticized for their outdated decor and maintenance problems, also reflect a need for improved cleanliness.

We stayed here with my sister as part of a quick getaway to Tahoe. We haven’t been to Tahoe in years so it was nice to revisit the area. Harvey’s has been a longstanding institution and it definitely shows in its physical appearance.

The outside building and signage has paint and areas chipping off. Fortunately, our room and the area of the hotel we stayed in wasn’t smoky. Our sizable room was relatively updated and the bathroom was roomy. We asked for a feather free room and they actually did a good job of de-feathering the room. I had no issues and slept well.

We walked over to Harrah’s to use their pool. The pool definitely needs to be updated. Even the pool water and area smelled musty.

Overall, we had a decent stay but gone are the days when both Harvey’s and Harrahs were the shining casinos of Tahoe. The only saving grace for me was that if I want to be assured a feather free and smoke free room for a future Tahoe visit, I may consider Harvey’s again.

We stayed at Harvey's for 5 days last week and I have to say after visiting multiple times over the last several years the experience has been degrading each time and I will likely not go anymore.
We had multiple bad experiences, here is the list:
They left 2 coffees for 4 nights, so I called 3 different times to request more coffees, nothing, I finally went down to the desk and they delivered the wrong types for the coffee machine in our suite. When they finally sent the right type (pods) they had no Decaf, which my wife needs.
Room wasn’t cleaned, found a receipt on the floor in living room from the guests before us.
No microwave in any rooms anymore.
No lamp on one side of the bed on the night stand, and No lights work in bedroom from the light switch.
Multiple Escalators didn’t work during our visit, and being handicapped was glad at least the elevator did.
Parking garage elevator was missing ceiling, was in deplorable condition. Felt like I was at a cheap old Motel 6, not a resort.
Overall it is just all and all old building and nothing gets renewed or fixed. Paint on room doors are chipped throughout, carpets look tired, etc.
A marble piece was duck taped by the elevator, and was missing a piece.
Cashier window was not open in casino when the tables were open in the mid-afternoons. Had to walk over to Harrah's next door to cash chips.
Garbage bags left by our neighbors outside their door sat for 2 days before housekeeping picked them up.
And they only clean the room after you leave. Where being in the room for 5 days trash in the bathrooms fill up, needed more shower soap, the Kleenex box ran out, and I was tired of having to ask for items they could easily check each day when cleaning the room.
Covid times are over and they need to start daily room cleaning in my opinion, as well as get serious about fixing up the place.

We had a nice room at a reasonable rate. So 3 stars for that. We were informed at check in that during our 3 night stay would not receive any room cleaning service as they were short staffed. We were told that we could make a call to the front desk to make room requests. The phone service to the front desk, however, was out of service a few times while we were here. The $29.58 daily resort fee as a joke. Obviously some hotel executive in the corporate office thought it was a brilliant idea to squeeze a few more bucks out of people. The pool area has no greenery and the charm of a freeway motel six and no water in the jacuzzi. Curious what their definition of ‘resort’ is. Other than the bleak pool, there are no outdoor areas to enjoy. Everywhere you look there’s a ding in the wall or furnishings. Maybe they could take the money they get in resort fees and put it towards some spackle, paint, room cleaning and maintenance staff.

They attract visitors with location and deceptive pricing tactics. It seems a new fee was created at every turn. The room for the week was a fixed cost, when you arrive to check in you find out you are subject to a $30 a day resort fee which covers a pool you can’t use, a hot tub that doesn’t exist, gym access, and WiFi. These are standard amenities included anywhere else you stay. If you plan to bring a vehicle prepare to pay $20 a day for self parking. Upon checkout an additional $5 a day “county tax” appeared. The hotel is very dated and doesn’t seem to be well maintained. Room cleaning/service is only at request and is limited. If you enjoy Starbucks there is one in the hotel but the prices are 2 dollars more per item, but if you don’t mind walking across the street to one of the other 5 Starbucks in the vicinity you can save the extra fee. During check-in the staff seemed short and didn’t enjoy receiving questions about all of these extra fees. Also be prepared to have a $75 a day hold placed on your card during check-in as well. Sure the location is nice but there are better places to stay in the area for comparable pricing by the time they tack on all of the extras. Check out Base Camp right next door.

If I could give Harveys Hotel Lake Tahoe 0 zero stars, I would. My stay at this hotel was far from satisfactory. If you plan on staying here for more than one night, be aware that they do not offer daily housekeeping. This lack of service made it inconvenient and disappointing.

Another issue I encountered was the difficulty in requesting room cleaning from both the front desk and housekeeping staff. It seemed like a struggle to communicate my needs, and this added to the frustration of my stay.

The hotel claimed that they only clean rooms after the 4th day, but even on the 5th day, I found it challenging to ask for a clean room. Their excuse of being short-staffed seemed like a poor justification for not fulfilling their own policy.

To my surprise, the hotel will not provide basic amenities after your first night like bath tissue, toiletries, and towels. It will be a struggle to ask for these things. They will even tell you to bring the trash outside your room and will hand you the trash bag to place it on your own bin. Yuck! Bring your own vacuum and cleaning supplies if you want a clean room and clean the room yourself because they won’t do it for you. It was incredibly inconvenient to have to bring these items myself (on the plane) and difficult to request them from the rude housekeeping staff.

As a part of the Caesars Hotel group, Harveys Hotel Lake Tahoe fell short of the expected standard. As a consistent and regular traveller myself, Harveys was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at, and it is disheartening to see them tarnishing the reputation of the Caesars Hotel group.

In my opinion, this hotel is nothing more than a money trap. They lure guests with false advertising and fail to deliver on their promises. I strongly advise considering other hotels in the vicinity that will provide a better and more honest experience.

I hope this review serves as a warning to other potential guests and helps them make an informed decision. It's important to choose a hotel that prioritizes customer satisfaction and lives up to their advertised standards.

Pool was closed during stay. Asked attendant to gym/pool area on first day of stay when it would reopen and was told it would reopen next day but it remained closed for the duration of our stay. Online materials reference whirlpool/ hot tub but that was also out of order as well. Raised this concern with the front desk given the resort fees that are applied daily and the staff member just dug their heels in to justify the additional fees and told me that I could have used amenities at a separate hotel. No in room refrigerators but they are also mentioned to be available on their website. Overall felt like a bait-and-switch experience based on the hotel’s marketing materials and what was actually provided.
Walls in bathroom of room were damaged and worn down, wall paper peeling off in multiple locations. Vanity light in bathroom had burnt out light. No electrical plug next to bed and phone charger outlets on phone next to bed were non functional. Hotel key cards stop working multiple times even when kept in separate pocket. Most interactions with staff were underwhelming and some were outright rude. Evident that management does not provide the tools and resources for their staff to be successful.

I was very disappointed with the presentation at this facility. Our room was upgraded, however, it came with a heavy odor of marijuana and I purchased 2 cans of heavy duty air fresher which did not work over the course of 5 days. I reached out to the desk numerous times regarding the odor, they offered to change my room location but there was no guarantee that the new room would be free of the odor. As I checked out at the end of my stay, they still did not remove the upcharge for the room as they stated they would earlier in my stay. Buyer be aware of your billing when you leave. I was highly disappointed with this facility.

If I could give zero stars I would have. This place needs a major makeover! No fridge or microwave in room (apparently you can request a fridge be brought to your room???), and not even a hair dryer! The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on a slab of granite. Old decor, peeling wallpaper and tile chipped off in bathroom, broken dresser, light in the bathroom kept going off when I was trying to get ready, had to keep flipping the switch off and on to get it to come back on. Upon check in we were asked if we'd like an "upgrade" to a larger "deluxe" room for $14 more a night so we said ok; the room was still on the smaller side so I'd hate to see what the non-deluxe room was like! They also asked if we'd like a balcony room for a mere EXTRA $250 a night! (or an extra $1000 for the 4 nights we were staying). The elevators are like ancient dinosaurs and very slow to come...and sound like they're about to break down at any given moment. Only positives I can say are that our room had a decent view of the mountains (but that's really credit that should go to the mountains, not to Harvey's). Making guests who are spending money to stay here and who are eating in your restaurants and gambling in your casino, also pay for parking is just plain greedy and this should not be happening. Just my 2 cents, go stay at the brand new Margaritaville across the street, which we walked into and it is gorgeous, light and bright...just beautiful. I only stayed here because my dad who passed away last year loved to come stay at Harvey's many years ago. Yeah, we won't be back.

Overall, I had a lovely stay at Harveys for a conference, and would absolutely stay here again in the future, but there are some things I would like to see improved to get it up to a 5 star rating. Mostly... improve the quality of the paper products and towels that you keep on stock. You're a casino hotel, surely you can afford some nicer paper products and a little bit softer/nicer quality towels and washcloths? Especially when everything else is so nice.

The views are amazing, the location is great, and there's a lot to see and do in the area. I was very grateful that the sound dampening seemed to be amazing between rooms too. For instance, apparently at one point there was a group of like 6 people in the room next door to me, who later apologized for being loud. However, I was very confused because I hadn't heard anything from their room at ALL. Which was pretty impressive in my opinion. The shower also gets nice and hot, which is another plus, and the rooms are large enough that I was able to set up the ironing board and leave it up for my entire visit without it being in the way.

Overall, a great hotel, but there are some things that could stand to be improved to bring it up to being excellent.

Took a charter with Caesar’s to Harvey’s, Sun Country plane could not leave due to mechanical difficulties. Told meals would be covered and overnight stay. Overnight stay was covered then when submitted receipts for meals was denied. When boarded a day late left standing in aisle because extremely obese man had taken my and his assigned seat, asked for help from flight attendant who didn’t address and found a different empty seat on my own. On flight back had to request this be fixed over weekend and no one available at Caesar’s to help and Sun Country airlines wouldn’t help! The Harvey’s experience was worse, we first got a check in online email, it didn’t work. Harvey’s was not prepared for the charter buses so the wait to check in was ridiculously long, the casino was smokey and it was too warm on casino floor, cleanliness was subpar, sticky empty drink glasses left in places with overfilled ashtrays, had a drunk patron run behind us knocking over a chair. Slots were so tight they squeaked. On a positive note the room was nice…the only positive about the trip otherwise will never do the cattle call on a Caesars charter again.
