Absolutely disgusting. Pillows underneath cases were brown spotted and smelly. Our upgraded room was supposedly newly remodeled, but the bathroom was original with an old discolored bathtub and dirty grout and old floor towels. The A/C was antiquated and brought smoke into the non-smoking room. The room next door had constant in and out traffic all afternoon and night long with an Asian woman screaming at whoever was in the room for 30 minutes at 2:30 a.m. The room backed into I-80 and the noise was deafening. Just say no unless you're looking for a sleazy experience. We tried to leave after seeing the room, but we would have forfeited our $145.00. Don't bite until you've seen the rooms. Ugh.
We have been staying at the nugget for years. I understand staffing from Covid. The last few visits I noticed maintenance issues. I don’t want to check in and then wait for a technician to come fix things. Toilet seat very loose. Towel rack very loose. Housekeeping didn’t do a thorough job. Only one face towel. Old k cup still in the keurig machine. Every visit there were 4 k cups in the room. This time 2. We called housekeeping to get 2 more. While checking out there was a charge for the k cups. All these will not stop us from staying at the Nugget. I will bring k cups and a couple tools. We like the place. They just need a better maintenance program.
The toilet was dirty and there were cigarette butts and candy wrappers in the hall When we went down for dinner after arriving at 8:45 we went down at 9:05. Every restaurant was closed. Something about doing a a deep clean. All of them???? Had to walk 2 block at night to get something to eat. We have been staying here for years. So disappointed!
Rooms and facilities smelled terrible! They screwed up my reservation on check in, having me leaving a day earlier. I was not called about this when I did not check out that day and was told that housekeeping had reported the room as vacated despite all my clothes, etc still in the room. Very poor customer service in solving this problem and the manager blamed me that it happened. The higher manager was supposed to call me but did not. When I called the resort to ask for the manager I was sent to voicemail. They still have never called. Would NOT recommend.
First of all, directions within the casino were terrible. Finally figured out the layout. Then I found a used feminine hygiene product on the floor outside the elevators. On my way out the following morning, I asked the front desk to print something for me. Nope…wouldn’t do it. Definitely won’t be back.
The best part: check in was a breeze. The room was not any better than an economy motel. The towels were small and rough. The safe did not work. The lighting in the room was minimal and I was unable to read in the evening. They had coffee (that my husband hated) and NO TEA. The room smelled okay when we got there, but by day 2, it smelled like a sewer. We kept the bathroom door closed. The bathroom mirror was too far away to put on makeup, and the bedroom mirror did not have enough light. The room thermostat was set at 77 when we entered, and we set it for 60. I do not think the room got below 70. The experience for the hotel was great in relationship to onsite food service. I would not go back!
This was one of the worst hotel stays for our family in a long time, especially when you consider the room rates and general costs of things around the property. This place has some potential if someone would care to invest in its improvement. . It’s a very dated, dark and dingy hotel/casino located in a sketchy part of Reno/Sparks. Railroad depot on one side I-80 on the other side and a greyhound bus depot sandwiched in between. Homeless campsites all over the area and no security or police presence to make a guest feel safe. We had homeless people harassing us and other families when walking to and from our rental car parked in the hotel’s adjacent parking lot. It’s a miracle more guest vehicles weren’t broken into. Guests were not offered an option for valet parking service either. When walking into the hotel you may be disappointed to experience the dark, dingy, outdated decor mixed with long slow moving check in lines and the strong scent of cigarette smoke. We were lucky enough to stay in the resort tower during our stay, which is far away from the smoky casino tower rooms and the casino. Unfortunately, there are no modern smoke filters like you would find in most any other hotel with a casino these days. Even the older properties found around downtown Reno had these basic features installed when we visited. Our room in the resort tower was fairly large with room for 2 comfortable queen beds, a table and two sitting chairs. They include a refrigerator in each room at no extra cost, and the large bathroom seemed to have been recently updated with plenty of counter space, updated fixtures and a strong shower head that gave instant hot water. Our biggest issue with the room was the poor Wi-Fi speeds and no option offered for a faster premium Wi-Fi option. We were getting less than 5 Mbps most days snd less than 2 mbps during peak hours. Our Verizon cell phone data plan was not an option with the poor signal found everywhere we went. The staff around the property were mostly retired and semi retired seniors who weren’t inclined to go above and beyond for their guests. The lady watching the impressively large pool area refused to grab any cushions for the outside lounge chairs - she just didn’t want to take the time to get them from the storage and clean them for guests until she was good and ready. We did encounter excellent service and s good selection of items in the hotel gift shop, but the prices were more expensive than what we paid during recent stay in Chicago. On the last night of our stay we tried the steakhouse on premise to be very good. Very expensive but the service and quality of food was on par with any other steakhouse we have visited. I’m would suggest that you look elsewhere until the property management company decides it’s time to update their property to meet more of your basic needs.…
This has literally been like my tenth visit in the last month or so, and the machines aren’t even paying you back a full bet, let alone a small jackpot or anything else for that matter. Bet 60 cents, lose. Bet 60 cents, lose. Bet 60 cents and ring a ding , you hit two antelope heads for the big payout of 50 cents!! Bells ringing, slot machine chiming, hoopin’ and hollering. And there you have it, not even enough to cover that bet you just placed for 60 cents. Makes for an extremely boring, extremely stressful time that you actually could spend elsewhere with machines that give back a little of what they take. Gooood luck!!
Security was and has been completely uncooperative with Sparks police when vehicle was stolen from Nugget parking garage on 3/25/22. Nugget has not followed up as promised John Smith was completely unhelpful and did not return calls when he said he would Not a safe place to stay
This is the only hotel I have ever stayed at that did not accommodate me for my baby's frozen breast milk- the mini fridge/freezer in the rooms are not big enough to store my frozen milk, so I asked to use a freezer in the hotel to store my frozen bags - I was told no. The fact that lower quality hotels have accommodated me in this situation, and Nugget will not is mindblowing. I cancelled my reservation and will stay elsewhere that is more accommodating. If you are traveling with a baby or need to travel for work and store your pumped milk, do NOT stay here.
