I got stranded in Reno and they had a room for me. Comfortable bed and huge rooms for the money. It was $30 more to stay at circus and I made the right choice. Only thing I’d change is that I had to get the room through a 3rd party to get the best rate, even after I called. I’d rather have given them all the money instead if they had a little more flexibility.
The location is near the River Walk and is within walking distance of many resorts and five downtown casinos. The room was spacious for a hotel room. We didn't use any of the amenities, so I can't comment on those. The staff was very helpful and responsive. There is no meal service at the hotel on a daily basis, so you will have to go out in the mornings and evenings. There is a convenience store on the corner so you can buy items to store in the refrigerator. There is also a movie theater nearby and several restaurants and pubs.
Very friendly staff, comfortable and clean, quiet, low key, and cozy. Enjoyed the staff and service at Thirsty’s lounge. The breakfast choices were lacking. Only pre-made burritos and nothing I could eat because I have celiac and no gluten free options.
Made another trip to Reno, Nevada as i'm buying a condo and needed to be in Reno for inspections. Stayed at Silver Legacy and Eldorado during my trips, but decided to stay at the Plaza this time as it was in the neighborhood I needed to be, and it is a non-gaming destination. The hotel is very convenient to neighborhood amenities: didn't have to walk far for breakfast or dinner. Plenty of great coffee spots all around and good restaurants all nearby in or near Riverwalk District. The Crafted Palette is directly across the street and is open early for a quick breakfast. Other recommendations in the neighborhood are Cafe Capello and Our Bar & Grill for dinner/drinks. Room was clean, spotless, comfortable and quiet. I was on the 16th floor overlooking city. Love the floor to ceiling windows and view, gives the room a feeling of spaciousness. The room is equipped with a dining room table, sofa, microwave and refrigerator. The amenities on the 7th floor are outstanding, including the indoor pool if swimming is on your exercise routine. The different areas to relax on the 7th floor are plentiful and comfortable to enjoy a morning coffee and catch up on the news. I was there during the early week and Thirsty's (hotel restaurant and bar) was closed. I wish the hours were longer, especially for the all-important coffee in the morning. So I ended up at my favorite old school destination when in Reno at Club Cal Neva, shoutout to The Top Deck restaurant which is open early for breakfast. Overall, the level of service, staff friendliness and convenience at the Plaza was outstanding. Vickie at the front desk was cheerful and helpful during my stay. A very nice place to call home, when in Reno.…
I enjoyed my recent stay here. The room was laid out really well, which makes a big difference, and many hotels don't pay attention to this! Lots of mirrors and counter space, drawers, plenty of hanging space- you could really settle in easily. The bed was comfortable. Mattress was a bit soft for me but I like a really really firm mattress. They have real pillows, not those weirdly flat pillows you sometimes run across. The front desk staff was great, very friendly and helpful. I didn't get to Thirsty's at night, but the breakfast experience was bad. Only a few pre-wrapped pastries available on a Saturday at 8am, and they really struggled to process payment for my one tea- they charged me wrong and had to refund the card which of course takes a few days to process. I was one of only two people trying to get breakfast that morning. I ended up going across the street to Cracked Palette which was a much better option. I recommend sticking to coffee in your room or eating out for breakfast. The pool was a great benefit. Who doesn't love a swim in December? Unfortunately the bar at the pool was closed but it was extremely pleasant to swim anyway. Note that when I was here (December 2022) there was no housekeeping at all during your stay. This was fine since I was just staying a couple days, but would be a deal-breaker for me on longer trips. The decor is quite dated, but very well kept up. You could say it has nostalgia. The room and lobbies were perfectly clean. Overall, I'd give it a shot and stay here again to see how things open up in the future. Note that none of the balcony doors or windows open, they are all permanently sealed shut. So you will be essentially sealed into a cube the entire trip. And even on high floors, your view is primarily directly into the living rooms of the apartments across the way. So you'll probably keep the blackout curtains closed the whole time, or at least I did. Bring air fresheners accordingly! They decorated the lobby and other common areas for Christmas, which I found charming. The fitness center when I was there had one assisted press bench, one elliptical, and one treadmill.…
If you were to judge the interior of this hotel based on the exterior, you would be VERY wrong. The inside is cozy and clean, very nicely put together. Nice indoor pool and bar, on-site covered parking, no casino, no resort fee, and non-smoking. Rooms were HUGE and comfortable, with a table & chairs, small fridge and microwave. Highly recommend this diamond in the rough and would stay here again.
This was our 2nd stay here and once again we enjoyed it! The room was perfect, bed and pillows were comfortable and the view from the 17th floor was beautiful! The kitchen was stocked with a few necessary items and the staff is helpful and friendly. this will be our home away from home when we visit Reno.
Like stepping back in time with modern technology. Room was comfortable with furnishings that look like they were out of the past. Bed was comfortable and the amenities were great. Location was great close to downtown, shopping, and food.
Our son is a college student here, so when we come to visit, we stay at the Plaza. Lobby and check in desk reminds me of the 1950s. Rooms are spacious, beds are so comfortable and clean. Staff is friendly. Located close to the Riverfront.
A great place to stay you are close and in walking distance to everything you may want, parks, casinos, movies and the beautiful river. You will be a 15-20 minutes walk from midtown where you will find all types of restaurants.
