The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino garners appreciation for its festive atmosphere and diverse amenities, which include a range of dining options, pools, and family entertainment. While some guests have experienced inconsistencies in room cleanliness and upkeep, others find the accommodations to be clean and spacious. The vibrant ambiance during concerts and casino events is a highlight for many visitors. However, issues with housekeeping and perceived high costs have left several travelers questioning the hotel's overall value. Despite this, the GSR staff receives accolades for their friendliness and professionalism.

I’m at GSR almost on a daily basis and my experience is always so fun and wonderful. I can’t say enough about the staff on the gaming floor. All your dealers and floor staff are always so happy. They’re all so pleasant and enjoy what they do which of course translate to great customer service. To name a few, Nely, Josie, Imee and Jasmyn. I also want to recognize the cashier staff, especially Nemia, Nashreen, Milly, Rosario really the entire staff. They’re always so pleasant and happy to help and I truly appreciate them. I also would Ike to recognize Security staff, Shirley. She is such a happy person, always willing to stop and answer questions with such a pleasant attitude. Thank you GSR for picking such great staff for your customers!

Came here Monday through Wednesday hoping to avoid the crowd. Chicken was a breeze. The room was relatively clean. Nice size mini fridge. Play a little bit of slots. Went to the pool which had plenty of seating and wasn’t too crowded. I have come here at least eight times before and you have to realize there will be kids who swim in the pool and if something happens to contaminate it I will shut it down. That can be a bummer. I have not experienced that at the Peppermill. The crowd at the adults only pool is definitely younger and more a party smoking crowd. Most of the people were wearing masks but of course you will see lots of people smoking eating and drinking throughout the casino who are not and it’s a very smoky casino. For now the Buffay was only operating on limited hours mostly Saturday Sunday and a lot of the restaurants closed up like Cpk and the Mexican place. Grand Café was open. Johnny Rockets was open. Starbucks was open. I really like the frozen yogurt place but wish they were open later. The housekeeping staff were in the hallway when I came out and asked me if I needed anything and made a special effort to give me things to restock the room. I preferred not to have my room cleaned during the stay.I think they are renovating or fixing some rooms because both mornings I woke up at 7:30 to construction banging noises around me. They only last a few hours but it was really annoying.

I have been coming to GSR for quite some time now, and I have to say it is because of my host, Audrey Carlson. Audrey has always made my stays here the best, Audrey always goes the extra mile to make sure my stay is better then the last. I have some medical issues that make it hard to walk for any distance without a great deal of pain, and she makes sure my room is close to the elevator so I don't have to walk too far. She tries to make sure I have extra water in my room, and that I have everything I need to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are always beautifully taken care of, from the clean tightly made beds, to the clean well stocked bathroom. I have never wanted for anything in my rooms. If I need anything at all, I ask and it is there. The staff at GSR are the best, from the VIP check-in, the bell desk staff, the housekeeping staff, and of course Audrey Carlson are all the reasons I come to and will continue to come to GSR to stay and play games when I am in Reno. I always feel and get treated like a VIP... and that is special. I love to eat all of my meals at The Grand Cafe'. The food is excellent, I have never had a bad or mediocre meal there. From breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert it is always wonderful and the staff are friendly, courteous, and truly care that you are delighted with your meal and service. Keep up the wonderful job you all do. Thank you for my fantastic experiences at GSR.

We arrived at GSR for a 5 day stay with our 2 adult daughters and the trip started off very rocky. We arrived on site after midnight to check into our suite and found that we didn't have any face towels or bottled water. We called the front desk and waited about 1/2 hour for service. We also noticed confetti and party decorations on the wall. That sign stayed on the wall for 3 days and we complained every day about it. We continued not to receive face towels and my connecting suite went uncleaned for 2 days. Went to the front desk to complain and was told by management that due to covid that face towels are not given and most time people bring their own sponges to bath. What I didn't understand is that we received other towels in the room but not face towels. That was unacceptable from management and the reasons why our connecting rooms which is open to our suite didn't get clean is a mystery. We were told that we would have to call for service if they wanted the room cleaned, again unacceptable since our rooms are connected and open so you can see the room was not cleaned. Finally spoke with the director of housekeeping which offered water and robes to use in our suite as part of our compensation. SMH. Finally we were compensated and were given credits but the service was just poor. For the amount we payed for the suite, the accommodations should have been better than we got as well as the customer service. Our cabinets were not stocked with glasses and were were given disposable cups but again the reasons were due to COVID but the restaurants served us glasses and plates so why we couldn't receive this in our room since we were the only one's using the items. We also payed resort fees but it appears that outside guest are able to utilize the pool and the all gaming amenities in the lower part of the resort which made it near impossible for the paying guest to use any of the amenities that we paid a daily resort fee to use. We never used the pool, not a day spent at the resort because it was over crowded but again, I thought it was COVID restrictions. My daughters wanted to attend the late night pool party but was told they would have to pay a $20pp fee but what I didn't understand was why wince the paying guest were paying resort fees to use the amenities I sent submitted a request in to do a resort tour so that I could share with my travel clients but have still yet to receive a response for that. As I stated before, our suite was very nice but the housekeeping service and the customer service were not to my standards or liking. Not sure if I will be able to place this resort on my list of places to travel for my clients as I would hate for them to experience what I have.

BEWARE about booking reservations during COVID-19. It was only after our first night there that we were informed there would be no housekeeping of our room while we were at the hotel. The person I spoke with over the phone in housekeeping hung up on me. The three people, including a manager, I spoke with at the front desk made no effort to try to resolve the issue even after I showed them our confirmation email that included the daily housekeeping hours and a note that there was an optional $2 daily housekeeping fee.
If you plan to go during the COVID pandemic, be prepared to make your own beds and take out your own garbage.

How can they charge a $35 resort fee with no services. We are here for a week for a softball tournament. Check-in was a nightmare and took over an hour with only 2 front desk employees. The room is nice, but it was poorly cleaned; A long hair on the nightstand and the desk chair was sticky and filled with crumbs. The valet is closed and no bell men are working. The pool hours are not long enough and they sporadically close it due to “wind”. To top It off, they don’t clean your room. I even requested the room to be serviced and their response was, “we will try”. You can’t stay in a hotel for a week, get charged a $35 resort fee and you can’t get your room cleaned! RIDICULOUS! I texted their service line for coffee, towels and the trash to be taken out. I head back to our room, yes I have coffee, but no towels and the trash is still here. So I called instead and was told over an hour for towels. My towels arrive an hour and a half later. I placed the trash outside my door and it has been there for 16 hours so far! Worst service ever!

My sister and I just called GSR to book our next trip to this casino. Rosa was the best! And she is just one of the many employees at this casino that we find to be kind, helpful and make our stay memorable. Our family visits GSR once a year and several of us go more often than that...the dealers, the pit bosses, the servers and the bartender are all top notch! Our rooms are always clean and they do their best to accommodate our requests for things like nearby rooms, or being on the same floor, whatever it is that we request. We are gamblers, so that is the pull for us, however we do go as an entire family and GSR provides other activities for those that are not old enough to spend time in the casino. Can't wait for our next trip in April!

We stayed here with friends for three days in August. The weather was hot outside but nice and cool inside. The hotel was excellent from the very beginning with the valet helping us unload our bags to the bellperson getting the bags to our rooms promptly. Check in again was excellent and with a very short line and great friendly staff. Our rooms were excellent with a pool view and furnished well with all the needs of people staying for a few days. My wife needed a larger mirror and the housekeeping person Tayvar , got one for her as well as a couple of extra wash cloths. Our rooms were cleaned and reloaded each day and no problems were encountered during our stay. We had breakfast in the Cocierge room on the 25th floor and Marie was very accomindating to all our needs as well as the servers in the room. Breakfast was very good with a variety of items to eat. Maybe scrambled eggs could be added to the menu but all else was excellent. The players club people were very good friendly and knowledgeable about the Hotel-Casino benefits. We have visited many Casinos and did think some freeplay could be added for out of towners as we drove over 500 miles to get there. Many of the Casinos we have gone too have freeplay anywhere from $25-$100 depending from how far you traveled. The Café was very good a good menu and again friendly staff. The slots fun to play but not much winnings for us. The hotel complex itself was very accomendating for anyone with all kinds of venues, pool, golf, arcade, movies, bowling , shops etc. We were very impressed with our visit and would stay there again when in the area. We highly recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting the Reno area.

The rooms are nice and well appointed. The hotel seems to place an appropriate emphasis on keeping things sterile during the Coronavirus pandemic.

It was extremely crowded on the Friday to Sunday that we were there so social distancing was a challenge however most everyone was good about wearing masks although a few didn't think the requirement applied to them.

It's a full service casino with several restaurants which were all quite busy so we went out for dinner both nights.

It's a good place to stay if you're in the Reno area.

I was here for a convention and made use of those facilities - very serviceable. PLENTY of parking! My room was nicely appointed with quality materials and even though there was the smell of smoke in the hall, it didn't seem to get much beyond the door and into the room. Smoking being allowed in hotels in Nevada is just comes with the territory.
Fast elevators. The food offerings are varied and good.
