Located in historic downtown Las Vegas. The hospitality of the Hawaiian Islands will flower during your visit to the California Hotel Casino. We like to say "Aloha" is spoken fluently here, and our guests enjoy many Hawaiian touches, ranging from dining delicacies such as oxtail soup to the colorful decor reminiscent of the islands' lush, tropical beauty.

You'll SAVE anywhere from $25 to $75 PER NIGHT by sticking with a Deluxe room. ALL rooms in the hotel were recently renovated, NOT just the Premium rooms. I've stayed in this hotel about 1/2 a dozen times in the last 2 years, and I've got a great Deluxe room every time. The hotel website lists the Deluxe rooms at only 264 sq. ft., however, I think the rooms are actually close to 300 sq. ft. in size. Anyone who's shared a room with me has agreed the Deluxe rooms are great and the size is more than adequate. If you like staying in the old downtown (Fremont Street-area) of Las Vegas, I wholeheartedly recommend the California. Just be sure to SAVE yourself some SIGNIFICANT cash by sticking with a Deluxe room rather than a Premium room.

Excellent place! Placed in a very convenient location. Check in was wonderful and they made me feel right at home. Very accommodating and convenient. Even though I was traveling for business, I went to the casino and had a fantastic time. Very refreshing environment.

Room was very clean and spacious for 4 people. It was the first time to see Las Vegas for 2 of the group that are from Guam. Because it is located in downtown Las Vegas, they got to experience the Fremont Street Experience. Only down side was that the free WiFi was not that great and it cost $10 per device for high speed. Both of the people from Guam are doctor students and needed the connection for their class work. Overall, happy with our stay here,

I’ve stayed at worse hotels, but I’ve never been bullied by hotel security as much as I was here. 🙄 We went for a family reunion. First run in with security was when, after dining at The Marketplace, and discovering my daughter had left her flip flops under the table, we returned to the restaurant to look for her footwear. We were confronted by security demanding to know why she wasn’t wearing shoes. They were unnecessarily aggressive—beginning the encounter at an “8” when a “1” would have sufficed. Next, when enjoying a meal at the pool, an officer walked in the pool area and immediately began shouting that there were too many of us and that we’d have to leave. 1. He yelled/communicated only with our group; 2. There was no posted “maximum occupancy” information, and; 3. We received no apology from the hotel. There were a number of other such uncomfortable encounters (and we were there only four nights!) The pricing was good, but if we ever stay there again (doubtful), we’ll spend most of our time off-site.

Could not have asked for a better trip. Did most of my gambling at The Cal. I enjoy downtown as compared to the Mega resorts on the strip. Please don’t change anything in the casino or sister properties downtown. I really enjoy the coin in coin out machines. It’s a real throw back to the good old days. If you could add more of the coin operated machines you would not hurt my feelings a bit. I don’t quite understand the resort fee? Just charge us that in the room charge. If everyone else is doing it there’s no reason to be like everyone else.
