I arrived from the free airport shuttle around 11:30 a.m. and they immediately checked all of us in and I was in the room before noon. (glad I did not have to wait til 3:00 check in time). The room was huge! I loved how clean and spacious it was! The elevators were non stop people but the elevators moved quickly. It was a very busy Easter weekend but I just avoided the huge Buffet line and my friend and I visted most of the other restaurants. The only complaint I had was the smokey casino. It was better when I went later that night and when I visited the casino early in the morning. Just a better ventilation system would be great! I would return! I enjoyed being at the hotel.

Hotel's Favorite
My gal pal and I recently stayed at SouthPoint which is an awarded locals property located on the far south end of Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip). We had a brief stay at SP in the past, but this was our longest stay - 4 nights. Are you looking for a low-key casino vibe with a property that has it all? If so, then SouthPoint is definitely it! Upon check-in each registered room guest receives a FunBook which is great for dining deals. In the hotel we have had both the City/Mountain and pool room view, I would suggest the pool view. We were located on the 11th floor, and the elevators were quick and smooth. The hotel rooms are well appointed, extremely clean and well maintained. Also, in the room is a mini refrigerator, safe, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, and a Keurig machine with complimentary k-cups. For breakfast we ate at the Garden Buffet for $5.39 w/tax each with a player's card and the 50% off coupon from the funbook. Online reviews tend to be largely negative, often not stating any positives. Our visit to the Garden Buffet was on point, full spread breakfast options-bacon, sausage, hash, fruit, etc., an omelet station, and bottomless bloody mary's (which were just vodka and tomato juice, but hey, you can't beat the price!). The food options at SP are another on point feature of the property. The 24-hour Coronado Cafe has everything with an exceptional Chinese food menu and a Late Nite Specials menu from Midnight to 6 a.m. Craving Mexican food? Baja Miguels has it going on, however, it's only open Wednesday-Sunday. While at Baja Miguels, be sure to check out the Lunch Specials menu from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., my friend and I each had an entree and margarita on the rocks for $10.78 w/tax each. We were craving crab legs and sadly due to the high market price of crab legs the Big Sur Oyster Bar was not serving the advertised crab leg special. A sign indicating such would have been appreciated at the host stand, but we had a lovely dinner nonetheless. We often parked ourselves at the many bars and played lots of bar top Keno. SP has numerous bars, with plenty of seating. And the cocktail service was on point! Our favorite was the 24/7 hour bar-Catalina Island Bar, and the 400 Bar which opens at 4 p.m. The casino vibe is that mostly of the 30+ age demographic and are respectful and courteous to all. Some hoots and hollers were heard on the casino floor which always add to the Vegas casino experience. There were a large number of Keno and Video Poker machines and the slots range from the old school 5-liners, to several of the hot new slots including Rakin' Bacon, Miss Kitty Wild Ride, Wonka Dreamers of Dreams, and Madonna. Also, the comps are easily accessible for those willing to reach out to a Casino Host at SP. During our visit in late November/early December there were sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70's, so we soaked in the resort's hot tub, which is spacious and private. It was nice to walk down to the pool area in my complimentary slippers provided in each room. The pool area was open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and we largely had the area to ourselves during the off season. Other great features at SP are the Bingo Hall, Bowling Alley, and kids Arcade located upstairs. Need to stretch your legs? Be sure to go outside of SP and walk the perimeter of the property. Given its location in a desired residential area you can feel safe and not be hassled by street beggars or tourist sales pitches. Also, there is a gas station just across the street as well as a McDonald's and Denny's if that strikes your fancy. SouthPoint definitely caters to a more mature clientele, however the resort, customer service, and locals casino odds are worth making the trip in my opinion. I love SP, and found my new favorite casino and look forward to returning again in February and discovering more of the property.

Did a trip to Vegas over the Easter weekend. We had an early flight in before hotel check-in time so decided to get something to eat. All restaurants and buffets had long lines due to Easter but Big Sur had open seating at the counter. The service was amazing and friendly and the cooks engaged with you while preparing meals. We had the Clam chowder which was great followed by the Lobster Roll and Clams with Linguine. All the food was delicious and well prepared and tasty! Thank you

Th cocktail service is the worst. I simply just wanted some water. I had to leave my game and walk to the bar to get my own drink. Thankfully there was a casino porter to watch my game. When spending good money now days the service should be GREAT. This was NOT my experience. Find another casino for your buck.

Let me start by saying that I was here for a conference. My wife and I have been to Vegas a few times before over the last twenty years, and we love visiting this wonderful city. I felt it would be good to write this review for those who have visited Vegas and those who have not. So here I go! I’ve stayed at the Hilton for business and the Venetian and Caesars Palace for vacation. So if you’re coming to the South Point Resort, understand immediately that this is not Las Vegas. It’s not the glitz and glamour that you’ll find at Caesars, the Bellagio, the Venetian, Cosmopolitan and Aria. Those places have the “Wow” factor. Not at South Point. Those places have the well-known four and five-star restaurants coupled with a celebrity factor. Definitely not at South Point. The glitzy Strip Hotels have incredible artwork and beautiful lighting. Not here. The Strip hotels have beautifully designed rooms with spacious bathrooms that have a separate shower and separate jetted-tubs. Not at South Point. Finally, South Point Resort is 7 miles from the Strip. It doesn’t take long to get to the Strip from here, but be advised it will cost you $40-$50 dollars via taxi (tip included). Also, other than South Point, there’s it much else out here. Your room may have a nice view of the nearby mountains, or it may be like mine: a view of the backside and the roof of the Casino. I mentioned BUT……this is what I mean: I don’t think South Point is trying to be any of the previously mentioned glamorous Strip hotels. South Point is affordable. It’s clean. The customer service is excellent throughout. The restaurants are affordable. They are not 4-star to 5-star places, but the food is good and in large portions. There are numerous amenities. A very large and attractive pool. A large, well-maintained workout center that has 24/7 access. A large casino area that includes a large poker room and sportsbook area. Easy automotive access in and out and straight onto the Expressway leading into Las Vegas and the Strip. Large hotel rooms that are more than adequate. Standard bathrooms that are beyond adequate. Quick cons: the doors to the hotel rooms are thick and heavy. That’s ok, but they automatically close and when they do it’s very loud and can be felt in nearby rooms. Honestly, I’ve never experienced this kind of noise and vibration at the many hotels I’ve stayed. It’s quite shocking and will wake you up while sleeping. Next, the Casino allows smoking, but it would be good if this Resort could figure to circulate the air better. Last, the colors are dark. Everywhere. Pro: awesome attention to cleanliness. The sanitary conditions of the public restrooms are on the level of what you see at Disneyworld and the Bucces stores in Texas. Their ballrooms and meeting rooms are as good and in some comparisons better than other facilities nationwide. Very spacious, accommodating, and clean. An excellent facility for large conferences.

There is always a line to access the elevators to your room, well less of a line a more like a crowd of people waiting to get on the elevator. There were also no extra blankets in the room, we had to call and wait for them to be brought up, I assume they are short staffed, and I felt bad for even asking. The walls are also thin, we could hear a phone alarm going off at 5:45am. We decided we were awake now and I went make the coffee, using the machine in the room the coffee was sour, the machine was dirty. The front desk offered to bring up a clean one, but based upon how long it took us to get the blanket, I declined and went downstairs to Starbucks. This place is not for me, I don't like waiting to get to my room, when I want to rest or shower or whatever. I don't like a dirty coffee machine, as one wonders what about the rest of the cleanliness of the room?

We stay here in January every year. We stay for good hotel most of the time. However we have learned to love eating here also. The steak, italian, prime rib, mexican, cafe and buffet are provide really good value for Vegas. Suggest making reservations since there are a lot of conventions and events that fill places up. I like how the resort fee is lower than most, parking is free and its fun to have some much to do on a whim. My hot tip is to be sure to check out the coupon book the join the players club. In early 2022 the coupon book had a lot of free drinks in different places. Be sure to join the players club for a discount at the Garden Buffet.

I've stayed in places on the Strip like Mandalay Bay, and I liked this place better. Our room was spacious, clean, and with a view of the mountains. It even had a refrigerator and coffee maker, which seem to be rarities these days. The gym was relatively large and clean as well. There is an in-house spa which isn't priced excessively and with nice amenities you can use all day long if you have a service done. It includes hot tubs, saunas, relaxation room, etc., all of which are nice. While the in-house restaurants are pricey, they are no more so than anywhere else in Vegas, plus you get a coupon book at check-in with some nice freebees. Unlike the places on the Strip, I didn't feel like we were being nickled and dimed at every turn. Even the gift shop prices for food and drink were closer to a grocery store than a typical hotel shop. I don't gamble, but the casino appeared to be nice as well--no hint of cigarette smoke. I think South Point is my new go-to place to stay in Vegas.

This review is for the casino. We had a blast playing the slots. The buffet was good but long lines. Not all the bartenders are cool. It takes a while for the ladies to come around along the floor to take your drink order. Once they realized we tipped we saw them more frequently.
