Large hotel at the southern end of Las Vegas Blvd with all the amenities including a movie theater. Nicely appointed room at a reasonable price - less than $100. Multiple restaurants and bars. A buffet. Less traffic. 10 mins by Uber to the center of the strip.
My gal pal and I recently stayed at SouthPoint which is an awarded locals property located on the far south end of Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip). We had a brief stay at SP in the past, but this was our longest stay - 4 nights. Are you looking for a low-key casino vibe with a property that has it all? If so, then SouthPoint is definitely it! Upon check-in each registered room guest receives a FunBook which is great for dining deals. In the hotel we have had both the City/Mountain and pool room view, I would suggest the pool view. We were located on the 11th floor, and the elevators were quick and smooth. The hotel rooms are well appointed, extremely clean and well maintained. Also, in the room is a mini refrigerator, safe, ironing board, iron, hair dryer, and a Keurig machine with complimentary k-cups. For breakfast we ate at the Garden Buffet for $5.39 w/tax each with a player's card and the 50% off coupon from the funbook. Online reviews tend to be largely negative, often not stating any positives. Our visit to the Garden Buffet was on point, full spread breakfast options-bacon, sausage, hash, fruit, etc., an omelet station, and bottomless bloody mary's (which were just vodka and tomato juice, but hey, you can't beat the price!). The food options at SP are another on point feature of the property. The 24-hour Coronado Cafe has everything with an exceptional Chinese food menu and a Late Nite Specials menu from Midnight to 6 a.m. Craving Mexican food? Baja Miguels has it going on, however, it's only open Wednesday-Sunday. While at Baja Miguels, be sure to check out the Lunch Specials menu from 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., my friend and I each had an entree and margarita on the rocks for $10.78 w/tax each. We were craving crab legs and sadly due to the high market price of crab legs the Big Sur Oyster Bar was not serving the advertised crab leg special. A sign indicating such would have been appreciated at the host stand, but we had a lovely dinner nonetheless. We often parked ourselves at the many bars and played lots of bar top Keno. SP has numerous bars, with plenty of seating. And the cocktail service was on point! Our favorite was the 24/7 hour bar-Catalina Island Bar, and the 400 Bar which opens at 4 p.m. The casino vibe is that mostly of the 30+ age demographic and are respectful and courteous to all. Some hoots and hollers were heard on the casino floor which always add to the Vegas casino experience. There were a large number of Keno and Video Poker machines and the slots range from the old school 5-liners, to several of the hot new slots including Rakin' Bacon, Miss Kitty Wild Ride, Wonka Dreamers of Dreams, and Madonna. Also, the comps are easily accessible for those willing to reach out to a Casino Host at SP. During our visit in late November/early December there were sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70's, so we soaked in the resort's hot tub, which is spacious and private. It was nice to walk down to the pool area in my complimentary slippers provided in each room. The pool area was open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and we largely had the area to ourselves during the off season. Other great features at SP are the Bingo Hall, Bowling Alley, and kids Arcade located upstairs. Need to stretch your legs? Be sure to go outside of SP and walk the perimeter of the property. Given its location in a desired residential area you can feel safe and not be hassled by street beggars or tourist sales pitches. Also, there is a gas station just across the street as well as a McDonald's and Denny's if that strikes your fancy. SouthPoint definitely caters to a more mature clientele, however the resort, customer service, and locals casino odds are worth making the trip in my opinion. I love SP, and found my new favorite casino and look forward to returning again in February and discovering more of the property.…
When I was playing on slot machine 6550 the machine got disabled. At the point of time I bet maximun snd lost $800. The machine got disabled and and ask me to cash out. I called the manager slot machine to explain why the machine stopped all of a sudden and did not come back to operation. Once I I cashed out the balance. The machine came back to opertational. This is the first time I had in my life time such experience in casino slot machine. This is a mystery to kickoff the player in between when you you are playing and lost heavily on the machine. The manager could not explain the reason why the machine stopped instead he called the security. This is very bad part of casino management of South point casino Las Vegas. They insult the customers. All customers please be cautious while playing high/max bet in South point casino. They have the control to kick you out of playing slot machine when you loose more on any machine. In casino world this may be new scam. Please be careful and ask management to give proper solution when you come across such situations…
This lovely resort is 20 minutes from the strip. It's a great family value with a relaxed atmosphere. The casino attracts a lot of seniors and moms and dads. Go to registration and get a free club card, then get a discount on the buffet ($15 for lunch). It's actually a very nice spread of delicious food. We especially enjoyed the brisket and ribs. No kidding, it's really good family fare at a very reasonable price.
Everything is nice and clean, but as I was waiting for my daughter in the tv area....security came by...like something was wrong. A got a bad vibe after like if your not constantly playing the machines or spending all of your money, then you were not welcome. The machines were everywhere but no one was winning anything. It's a money trap for sure! Stay away. Keep your $ for better returns on other things.
I’m a local ad really enjoy south point casino. I normally go to a movie on Friday nights, go to the arena for horse events and I bowl on Tuesday nights and I’m a league bowler. too much negativity in some reviews. I really enjoy south po8nt casino and I crack up, when I see people complain about petty things. People don’t read the fine print. I love the movie theater and restaurants along with the bowling alley. south point is much better than what people make it out to be. south point rules.
The most important thing a hotel has to have is comfortable or decent beds and pillows. I had one of my worst nights with a completely uncomfortable pillow. I called service the next morning to make an effort to send me a comfortable pillow. My surprise was that when The pillows arrived, they were worse than the previous ones If you are a person who likes to rest in hotels, well I tell you this hotel is not for youIf you are a person who likes to rest in hotels, well I tell you this hotel is not for you
South Point. almost everything about South point was great. The few restaurants we ate at were outstanding. Coronado Cafe, breakfast, lunch , and dinner were really good, prices reasonable and service great. Del Mar Deli food was outstanding, and of course my wife had her favorite, Starbucks. Room were spacious, and very comfortable, Keurig coffee maker a must for me. beds comfortable. Best of all were the employees, very pleasant and helpful. Casino slots gave us several nice bonuses. Huge casino with great variety of slots.
I didn't stay here but met friends here for Thanksgiving dinner and loved the place. I actually hate we didn't book our reservations here. The buffet is awesome. Now if you don't like hustle and bustle I wouldn't recommend it, the hotel is extremely busy
Bed has obvious and uncomfortable divots on both sides from use. Have they ever replaced it since it opened? Nonsmoking room. Smoke and dust just everywher in the air. Not from the floor or a neighbor. Just everywhere. Elevator button didn't work. The paltry vending machines on the floor didn't work. Thin sheets and the flatest comforter I’ve ever slept with. Temperature control was fan only and it got really cold at night. With thin bedding. Food is terribly over priced though generally decently tasty. I don't think I'd ever stay here again if there wasn't a work event I had to attend. Grout on the tub shower combo is jagged and rough. Obvious that someone torn the wall soap holder out and it was put back sloppy. (I took a bad photo but I don't care enough to take another.) Gouges in the picture frame. (Same again.) How much are they charging per night for this? I will say it seems the room cleaners/housekeeping DO seem to be doing the best they can with what they have. The spa looks nice though I haven't used it. The pool is pretty, if closed. The gym does look the onto the pool and jacuzzi and it (the pool deck) is the only place I've seen any green. Too bad the jacuzzi closes at 5pm and they lock to doors so I've never been able to actually visit it. I have no opinion on how it is as a casino. If you have to stay here fine, you'll live but I can't say I found it enjoyable. Netural or meh at best with spikes of frustration and unpleasantness. …
