Nestled near Lake Tahoe, the Hyatt Regency Resort is celebrated for its prime location, with guests frequently commending the picturesque private beach and convenient access to local attractions. While the resort's cleanliness receives high marks for spotless environments, opinions on service and room experiences vary, ranging from warm praises to disappointment over service lapses and room issues. The cozy yet modern atmosphere, complete with festive activities, is a highlight for families.
However, the value proposition is questioned by many who cite steep prices and extra charges. Amenities like the heated pools and shuttle services are popular, though some guests mention they could be improved.

Another fantastic holiday weekend in Lake Tahoe for 11ppl thanks to award travel! It was our first time in Lake Tahoe and we really enjoyed it! It was a blended family vacation and everyone had a fabulous time.
I booked 4 rooms, 3 nights each at 23,000 points per night. I booked Legacy GOH for the 3 extra rooms under the other family members. I didn’t push for an upgrade since it’s a busy holiday weekend and they already notified us that it would not be possible for a suite bc they are sold out for the wknd. I only requested to be close-by to one another, which we were. We were in connecting rooms (916, 917, 918 and 919), two of them were facing the pool, which I believe is a small upgrade. I also mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, and hotel did include a birthday card and treat in their room. That was a nice gesture. Daily $50 valet parking was comped, we had 2 cars total. Daily breakfast buffet or a la carte was also comped, we had 11 ppl total and the bill was $400+ every morning. We also received vouchers for free s’mores and goodies at their grab n go. Cash price was $9424.20, definitely valued more bc of all the comps.
There are a lot of free activities at the resort, book your spots two weeks in advance. The website will give you all the information. Although the rooms were a little dated, I think it was a solid family resort. They also used wristbands instead of room keys, which I find very convenient. However, I wish it was removable at the end of the day so I didn’t have to sleep with a wet wrist band after showering. The entire hotel staff were all very friendly, with the exception of one front desk person named Yvonne. On two separate occasions, she was cold and not friendly at all. I think she’s a manager too, that’s unfortunate. Despite those encounters, I would definitely return again just because the overall experience was very good.

I highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a place by the water (especially if you are new to the Tahoe area). The staff was so friendly and super helpful-- they have a 24/7 shuttle service that takes you to and from nearby hot spots. The Hyatt also has its own private beach where you get access to free paddle boarding & kayaking! We loved the huge heated pool and 2 large hot tubs outside. They also had a firepit and many pool beds to enjoy the outdoors (everything is kept so nice and clean outdoors). There is a beautiful creek behind the pool area where you can walk to and practice archery and hatchet throwing with an instructor. You definitely get your money's worth here! The rooms were really nice too but our favorite part was the overall experience and how many activities we got to do that were all covered by the resort fee. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in Lake Tahoe (we will for sure be back)!

My wife and I absolutely adore this hotel. It meets all our needs and beyond. We have a small dog that we typically travel with so this Hyatt Regency is incredibly dog friendly. There's this nice nearby walk to a meadow that our dog loves to frolic in.
There's pretty decent restaurants nearby the hotel and Cutthroat's Saloon is an incredibly solid option as well (highly recommend the fish & chips). It's also really nice the casino is on-site.
We've stayed here 4 times total and can't wait for our next visit!

The check-in process was very fast. After check-in, each adult would get a sparkling wine, which was a very good gesture of the hotel. The lobby felt very warm and cozy. This is a pet friendly hotel and this is why you will see some dogs in the lobby. All the dogs were all on leash, and luckily, they were on leash because we saw a few big dogs barking at each other very loudly. If it was not the leash, they might be biting/attacking each other. It was very scary. We have 2 adults and 2 children. The room was very spacious and clean. You can find a lot of outlets and USB ports near beds or desks for you to charge your mobile devices. The closet was also very big. The best thing they had in the room that I never saw in other Hyatt was the coat hanger right next to the door. The coat hanger was very useful for us to hang our thick winter jackets. However, the shower head was not so good. We can not get constant hot water from the shower head. We need to keep adjusting the water to maintain the water temperature. During nighttime, when we were sleeping, dogs were barking nonstop either in the hallway or in other guests' rooms, and this was around 11 pm to 12AM. There was a sign asking guests to be a good neighbor and kept the noise down right at the elevator but the sign didn't seem to work and I'm not sure if the hotel would be able to do anything about the noises. At around 5AM in the morning of our check-out day, the alarm clock in the room malfunction and was making non-stop noise. We unplug the power of the alarm clock, but it seemed like there was a backup battery in the alarm clock, when without the power cord, it still made noise every 10 minutes or so. We eventually put the alarm clock outside the room and called the housekeeping to come pick it up otherwise, it would wake up others guests. Then at around 7:30AM some guests from a nearby room was playing some instruments. It sounded like a violin. This is becoming ridiculous when you had dogs barking, malfunction alarm clock and then early morning violin disturbance. The violin lasted for almost an hour before it stopped. I'm not sure what the hotel can do with all these noises but this really gave us a bad experience while staying here. Honestly, if it was not all of these noises, I would give it a 4 stars because all the staff were very nice and trying to give their best to give us a good experience while staying there.

This property has a lot going for it, but probably has about 25% more rooms than it should for the available amenities. To be fair, our visit was during the higher summer peak season that straddled part of a weekend into the week, and the experience during midweek even in late July was markedly better than the weekend.
The private beach which is a main marketing point for this property is much too small and crowded to actually feel like you are getting "exclusive" beach access. It's a relatively short stretch of sand, and the beach chairs are really crammed in there so there's barely space to flip over without brushing against your neighbor. There are also 4-5 large cabanas that are available for reservation (during our time it was around $800/day), which even if empty / not reserved, are not open to all. They are in the front location which means that actually about 1/3 of the beachfront space is not available to actually use. All chairs were filled by around 1030am daily, although later in the week you might be able to find a cluster of 2-3 chairs throughout the day.
The pools and hot tubs were usually pretty full as well, throughout the day, although the last hour (9-10pm) hot tubs were slightly more accessible and pleasant to use.
The resort does also offer a number of complimentary activities, including 1hr rental of stand-up paddle board or kayak (only 1 hr per person per day though), as well as a few other options on the resort side (archery, hatchet throwing, yoga, hikes). Some additional paid activities are also offered. We did the sunrise yoga on the beach and the archery lesson which were both satisfactory (similar to what other Hyatt resorts offer - Carmel Valley ranch comes to mind). Nighttime smore's was a fun activity, too.
There are a number of options for food on site, although we only did some grab and go stuff from the cafe. Lines there in the morning were ridiculously long and we skipped coffee usually or used the in-room maker instead.
In general walking through the property and trying to use its amenities, it just felt PACKED all the time. Certainly this is good for the hotel's bottom line, but for the guest experience, I'm not sure the value is there if you don't have a family with kids 12 and under who are going to get the most potential benefit from the activities and in that situation the adults are already going to be dealing with screaming children running around everywhere anyway. I think this hotel generally tries to market itself as a more luxury/relaxing type getaway, with its prices and advertised amenities -- but in reality it's a pricier "all-inclusive"-type family vacation spot.

I had the pleasure of staying here for a one week conference. It was a bit challenging to stay focused on my training because the premises are gorgeous. Lake Tahoe is right outside the large meeting room. The casino and restaurant are right next to the ladies restroom. They have bike rentals at the front door. There's a full-service spa at the bottom of the stairs. A pool and jacuzzi right outside the front door to my room and comfy rocking chairs on the rear patio to my room. Needless to say these distractions were tempting every day, but I stayed disciplined and attended all sessions of my conference. The food service was great. The Tahoe provisions store and Casino Bar were very pricey so I went to the Raley's grocery store and purchased my own fruit, juice and liquor to put in the small chiller/refrigerator in my room. The Hyatt is generous with bottled water and replenished on request. Aside from a delay in housekeeping services, the staff at the resort were wonderful, professional and honest. I left my purse in the cafe eating area so I wouldn't be late for my first training workshop. An employee (Kim) found my purse and turned it in. The hotel staff called me repeatedly to let me know that they had located my purse. I didn't answer because my phone showed it was potential spam. They continued to try until I answered and my purse was returned to me with everything in it including a hefty amount of cash. I tried to give Kim a reward, but she refused to take it. Someone could have easily taken the cash and tossed my $500 car key and other cards but the honest staff at the Hyatt made sure that I got my purse back, promptly.

While it is certainly a hefty price, the Hyatt Regency provides you with premier access to Lake Tahoe, especially if you are looking to get on the water. We stayed in a tower room and I found them to be quite spacious and comfortable. There are parts of the hotel that you can tell is dated (build in the '70s) but they've done a good job of updating the common areas and providing top-notch amenities. We did not spend time using the spa or workout facility, but rather the pool and the beach. If you're looking to have a location that gives you easy access to beautiful Lake Tahoe, this is worth the price.

Booked a two queen patio room with easy pool access for 1 night. I asked for an early check in but we weren't able to get there until 4:00pm. Using the World of Hyatt app, check in was easy and we were assigned a room in the 100's section. We were directed to the front desk to get our room keys and free sparkling drink and wrist bands. The bell person then led the way to our room which unknowingly was down one floor from the main lobby and down a very long musty smelling hallway with several twists and turns. When we reached our room, it smelled and looked very old and dark as it was located in a corner section with lawn spreading out in front of the sliding glass door. The screen on the door was stretched out of shape and didn't slide easily. There was no way to lock the sliding glass door from the outside so if everyone decided to go to the pool ,which was fairly close to our room, one person had to stay inside and lock the door, then walk down that long hallway, take an elevator up one floor and walk out toward the lobby and come back out down a flight of stairs to the pool. The pool was very crowded but we found three lounge chairs, and had to go find where the towels were. Quite a few lounges were soiled from the blackbirds that were flying about, squawking and diving at hotel guests and leaving bird droppings on everything. That was extremely annoying. Our room took on a terrible smell at night which seemed something like the smell of a wet dog and cleaning chemicals which for a person who doesn't live with animals, was enough to keep me awake most of the night. As for the bathroom, space was at a minimum with not enough counter areas to set things out. The towels were old and worn and I absolutely abhor Hyatt's decision to go to the large bottles of generic soap, shampoo, and conditioner. It felt more like a two or possibly a three star hotel. Ordering extra robes and slippers (which were cheap and awful-what happened to the nice slippers with the Hyatt logo?) & other items was easy enough through the app. Breakfast at the Sierra Cafe was very good and staff was attentive and wonderful. All in all, the location, the lake, and food at the restaurant was enjoyable, though the room experience is something I never want again.

We had high hopes for this property, but the reality was a letdown.
There were some positives. All of the staff members we encountered were friendly. Most of the public areas had an open and contemporary feel. The room decor seemed recently updated, and it was a good size for a base room. However, it’s always disappointing to see a tub/shower combo in 2024 with the dreaded plastic shower curtain, which this room unfortunately had.
The food and beverage experience was the biggest disappointment from start to finish. The steakhouse on property had good (but not great) food. We had to wait an unacceptable amount of time for any service, especially for the highly inflated prices. Lunch at the Nest, the outdoor restaurant at the lake shore, was the real debacle. We learned way too far into the meal after multiple errors and omissions that it was our server’s first day on the job, and he had no one accompanying him to assist or train. He meant well, but he was predestined to fail. That was not his fault - management should be ashamed for turning him loose clearly before he was ready.
The most baffling part of this stay was the email my spouse received as a Hyatt Globalist (the top tier of the Hyatt program). A few days before arrival, an email was sent by the general manager to set expectations that the stay was going to be subpar for what a Globalist should expect at a high end property. What general manager does that? I suppose in her defense, she was right. The stay has definitely been a letdown. My top status is with Marriott, and it’s a safe bet we will be at one of its brands on our next stay rather than this one.
There’s potential at this property, but service needs major improvement. Unfortunately, that may need to start at the top to have any noticeable impact.

Hyatt incline world class one best hyatts location forest and mountain Tahoe north next to best beach and rarified air forces relaxation always excellent food and service and rooms even regular ones very good and cabins next to beach are great. Food is very good and have restaurants 150 feet across street great sandwich and American and Chinese etc so can eat outside only 150ft away. 45 minutes to south and south shore and 2.2 hrs around Lake Tahoe. Need car bc hotel does not have transport from Reno airport excellent access from Sacramento and San Fran Vid Reno and truckee and also from Reno but need car recommend d AWD even in summer winter snow can be bad like why ski resort area. Ski resort is one mile away have local transport to restaurants one mile in Tahoe Blvd and Raleys (like safeway) center or trails one of worlds most expensive streets is a lakeshore right next to Hyatt and separates it from lake and beach. Billionaire row Road from lakeshore onto 28 some great scenery including sand harbor one best beaches in us south shire is more Vegas style but I much prefer Hyatt incline
