I was advised to book in the West wing, and I was glad I did. My room was nice, clean, comfy. No complaints. I was on the 2nd floor and was thankful for the elevator. The check-in counter is in the casino, so be prepared for some smoke, but no hint of smoke in my room. There was a fridge, coffee maker, tv, etc. No microwave in my room, but there was one downstairs in the lobby'ish area. I didn't have need for one, so that was good. The doors to the west wing are all keyed, so only guests could enter. All in all, I was surprised at how nice it was.

Really great fun jailhouse theme throughout restaurant with seating set up in individual jail cells complete with bars. Historical jail themed items adorn the walls adding to the ambiance. The Pork Ribs was absolutely amazing! Terrific glaze and cooked perfectly. The Lemon Pepper Chicken was exceptional. A great meal at reasonable prices in a fun setting. Its a win win!

My husband and I checked in at midnight, took the clerk about 15 minutes to check us in, no greeting or anything. We had to drag our heavy suitcase up the stairs as there is no elevator. We were blasted with icy air from the ac upon entering, the room thermostat indicated 62 degrees. The carpet was uneven, felt oily or dirty. The tiny tv screen gave out snowy images as the cable reception was poor on every channel. The tv remote was sticky to touch - ick!! The shower head needs replacement as the water came out splotchy. The shower water tasted like rusty old pipes. The sheets on the box spring were dirty and made my husband’s back itchy. The chairs were old and stained. If we weren’t so tired, we would have slept in our car rather than stay at this motel. Avoid it like the plague!

We stayed 2 nights, 1st floor in room 122..carpet very dirty, needs replacement. but housekeepers do a great job with what they have. Noisy with cars pulling out at 530 am. BUT I went to get ice and machine was not working in my building, so there was a sign that said go to lobby near front desk to get ice. Went back to my room and my key did not work. Now I have nothing on me, as I am locked out of my room. I walk in the door near registration and the clerk yells at me as I'm walking in-- "YOU have to wear a mask in here" very rudely. I said "you have masks behind the counter (as they keep them at the front desk as I had seen the day before". She said "Are YOU a player here?".I said "I am STAYING here." She whips out a mask and puts it on the counter-very curtly. I put on the mask, explained I have nothing on me, I am locked out of my room. She doesn't apologize for MY inconvenience of the key not working or say she understood why I may not have a mask on me. NO customer service, just explained she made me a new key. I walked away really ticked off and I will never stay here again. Front desk clerk, late afternoon on 7/14/2020. If they want people to return, they better think how they are going to treat their guests, but I will go somewhere else next time I am in Ely.

My husband and I had dinner in the Cellblock Steakhouse at the Jailhouse Motel & Casino. He had the ribeye which was very good but I chose the prime rib and it was terrible. It was 1/2 fat and there was so much gristle I couldn't swallow one piece. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said prime rib is 'notorious' for this and that is not true at all. The meal was very expensive and not worth it at all.

The place is old but clean. Check-in was easy. Located at the west end of town. BUT… the first room I was given had no window to the outdoors and was hot and stuffy inside. It had some sort of stand-alone cooler vented into the hallway but did not seem to cool anything, even though set to 62 degrees. The next room I was given was a “pet allowed” room. Again, clean and WITH a window that sort of opened. BUT… NO HOT WATER!

Horrible. Do not stay here. Front desk snarky and less than helpful. Internet does not work or has slower than dial up connection. TV doesn’t even have Olympics. Restaurant under new management and horrible food for very high price. Will never recommend or stay in the future

We stayed here in June 2024. The room we stayed in took 10 minutes to get hot water from the faucet. The mattress was the worst one I have ever had in a motel, and over all the room was worn out looking. No laundry or ice machine. Don’t stay here if you have a choice.

This is the second time we have been to this restaurant and the first time was better. You eat inside a prison cell, which is fun, but the food wasn’t great.
My steak was overdone and so was my wife’s salmon. The baked beans were bland. Homemade blue cheese dressing was good. Service was also good.

There are some chairs in some of the rooms, but no recliners. Sorry.
No, sorry. The closest public laundry is about 3 miles away.
