We needed a last minute room and not only were they super patient with us trying to figure everything out they actually price matched just to be nice. The front desk was polite and informative. What a relief that was after an experience we had at a hotel down the street. The "sports bar" had an amazing server, chill atmosphere and decent bar food. Would recommend and stay here again!

My wife and I enjoyed a great ribeye dinner at Coffee Garden restaurant inside Red Lion Casino. Service (Gloria) was excellent also. The ribeye steak was smothered with red and yellow peppers with mushrooms, and cooked a perfect medium rare. It also included a perfectly baked potato with butter and sour cream, along with string beans. Highly recommend Coffee Garden.

I assume we were put in the "old" wing because the room looked nothing like the pics and everything was old. The beds were uncomfortable, the sheets were too small for the mattresses and were torn, the shower was barely a trickle, no light bulbs in the lamps. You get the idea.
We made an appointment the night before to use the gym, which was fine, but both treadmills were broken. I tried to get a bottle of water out of four different vending machines and none worked. I saw rows of bottled water yet the machines said "sold out."
On the upside, every staff member we encountered was friendly and polite. Yes, all the common areas smelled like smoke, but it's a casino. I get it. The room was clean if not comfortable, and Covid protections appeared to be in place.
Also, our dinner at Aspens Bar and Grill was fantastic. The ambiance was dark and romantic, and the wine recommended by our server was delicious. My bf had a Caesar with crab cakes and both were fresh and delicious. (Yes, crab cakes in Elko, NV!) I had a Caesar with shrimp. Simple? Yes. But a really nice dinner at the end of a long day of driving was much appreciated. Two salads, four mixed drinks (at $5 each) and two glasses of wine (at $14 each) resulted in a $120 dinner with tip.
Overall, the rooms need to be seriously overhauled to be worth the $110 other people paid. Using Hotel Tonight, ours was $60, so I didn't feel ripped off.

I visit Elko a few times a year and usually stay at a different hotel. I tried Red Lion this time because I received a discounted room rate after joining their player's club. My first impression of the hotel just walking down the hallway to the room was that it was old, faded and outdated. This was confirmed when I entered the room. Not dirty or shabby, necessarily, just old and outdated. Kind of sad, actually, like it might have been a good place 30 years ago. I could not sleep because when the heater came on there was a grinding sound and the wall actually vibrated. I asked for a different room and had the similar experience of a loud noise coming from the heater. That, combined with the fact that these old places give me the creeps, I left at 12:30 AM and went to the hotel I usually stay at. In short, I would not stay here for free. The casino itself isn't bad. It is the largest casino in Elko, though not necessarily the "best".

No in-room coffee (though promoted as amenity), no hair dryer, no iron, no cups, no glasses. And to top it off extremely poor service. Red Lion always represented a top tier hotel chain but this property was badly lacking. The glasses we were able to obtain were promptly removed by the one day of housekeeping (3 night stay) we received and no replacements were provided. No pool or workout room either. I'd accept the pandemic as an excuse for some of this but we stayed at a La Quinta jn Ely and were provided with all the above amenities as well as breakfast. Oh, and the safe didn't work.

Very clean room and comfortable beds. Staff was friendly and when we needed anything it was promptly addressed. We liked the fact that you had to have a key to enter the hotel part of the casino where the rooms were, made for a much safer feeling. Although we didn’t really win much in the casino part of the of hotel, our overall experience was great. We would recommend this place to everyone looking to vacation to stay here.

Probably the worst hotel experience I’ve had in awhile.
The annoying but not huge issues: We got a non-smoking room and it smelled really musty. The sinks and tubs didn’t drain properly.
The main issue and reason why I’ll never stay here again: At 8:00 in the morning, someone knocked on our door and without waiting for a response just barged into our room. I had just gotten out of the shower and was not dressed. The person did not announce themselves or apologize. I was horrified. I asked the front desk upon checkout what the process was for housekeeping and told them about the situation. The woman did not apologize and simply responded that they have a lot of guests that don’t check out and leave between 3am and 5am so they don’t announce themselves. The checkout time is noon. Why are they barging into rooms at 8am?! The front desk person was completely unapologetic and obviously felt it was my fault for not knowing that housekeeping starts at 7:30. I’m so glad I spent $165 to stay in a musty room and for some stranger to see me completely nude.

We stayed one night at Red Lion Elko and it was probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The “non smoking” room and bedding smelled like an ashtray, there were water stains all over the sliding glass door and there was no hair dryer. We couldn’t wait to check out of there.

We stayed at the hotel, we ate at the hotel and a little bit of gambling on our way back home. The room was fine, the air conditioner didn't work too well it kept the room slightly cool 71°. The sliding glass window was filthy. Door on cabinet was falling off.
Shower was dated and shower head sprayer needs CLR.
The food was subpar they have a steakhouse that have a overpriced $76 a dollar steak so we didn't eat there, We 3 sat down in the regular Cafe, it took them over an hour to get served. When they did it was really low quality food and for $70 it was a joke. We have problems with the food taking extremely long , it came out in correctly, French dip...It was cold and lacked flavor . My husband's fish and chips was overcooked . The new girl was doing all the work and there's no good trainer alongside her to help, she just kept apologizing.
Checking at the front desk went smooth for the most part but our rooms were clear at the other end of the hotel and it's one hell of a walk from one end of the hotel to the casino/ restaurant. I booked more than 8 months ago.

Yes we do have some rooms that are smoking.
There is a pet fee - it is a one time charge. The hotel allows up to two pets, but again only 1 fee charged once for up to a continuous week's stay.
We have Bingo Sunday afternoon/evenings and the first game begins at 3:30 p.m. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!
There is a nice large area with more than one sani-station available and guests are usually very good about keeping the dog walk area clean. The area is safe and is lighted at night. I would be sure and have a leash since the main thoroughfare (Idaho Street) runs right in front of the hotel. The front desk could give you more information concerning our pet policy. Thank you!
