Detailed Reviews
This is a very clean motel with owners dedicated to help make you4 stay the best.
Great location right at the start of Valentine, breakfast variety good. Nightly rates reasonable would recommend for your next stay while planning a trip down the river or fishing at Merritt Reservoir.

We were stranded on Hwy 2 on 7/4/2021, 100 miles away from AllianceNE and 66 miles from The nearest town; the towing service brought us to Valentine, NE. We were blessed to find The Tradewinds Motel a very clean, affordable facility. The owners went above and beyond to help us with services and recommendations to make our stay a great day experience. We highly recommend this lodging facility. Great people, quaint town with a lot to sightseeing opportunities.

This motel was exactly as described. The grounds and exterior are immaculate, the rooms are spotless and comfortable. Helpful hint: call the motel directly to book a room as the national websites may not show availability when they do have rooms. This place does everything right and it shows. This is why it’s the top-rated lodging in the area.

Stayed one night, as we were on our way to South Dakota the next day . Very friendly hotel staff, very clean, comfortable room. The lobby is super clean as well. It is evident the hotel staff cares about their guests and attention to detail. They also have a nice outdoor area to sit and relax. The decor was rather dated, but that was ok...for the price and the immaculate condition of the room, we will defintely stay here again!

Great place to stay. Clean room, large, and just perfect. Like stepping back into the 60s. The lady running the place was great and gave us wonderful dinner recommendations for the Peppermill. Two of us got the chicken fried steak and split it. Oh wait that’s another review. Really enjoyed staying here and since we had our electric bikes with us it was so nice to be able to back up right to the door of the room. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

It was a probably a nice place 30 years ago as the pictures show, but not so much these days. They are way behind in any kind of maintenance. You are going to be disappointed if you go there. Spend the extra 30 to 50 dollars more and you will get a massive upgrade

I stayed at the Tradewinds Motel while traveling through Valentine Nebraska on the way to the Black Hills. This family owned private motel is one of the nicest places I’ve stayed anywhere. Everywhere there was evidence of pride of ownership and a commitment to excellence in maintaining the property. My room was really very nice, and I gratefully marveled at how clean the tile work, caulk, etc. were in the bathroom. This is the type of clean that only happens when it’s YOUR home and you take time to care for it. My Sincere compliments to the owners for treating travelers as valued guests.

Very Clean & Comfortable! Don't expect the latest fashion fad for hotels, or super-minimalist room design...the two most important aspects of a good hotel/motel room are COMFORT & CLEANLINESS, which the Trade Winds delivers. I travel a lot & want a good night's sleep, which I got. Free breakfast is good, service from staff is excellent. Picked this motel due to highest reviews based on the above mentioned criteria. Five-star reviews are well-earned & deserved. Will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in Valentine, NE.

We stayed here while kayaking and biking. It wasn’t fancy but it was clean, comfortable, and quiet. They offered a very simple breakfast with limited selections but it was perfectly adequate. Our room was surprisingly spacious and we were able to bring our bikes in and still have plenty of room. We will definitely stay again on our next kayaking trip.

Located off US Highway 20 on the east end of Valentine in Nebraska's Sandhills and near the Niobrara National Scenic Riverway.
Clean and comfortable rooms at a very affordable rate. It's a *motel* not a hotel (and they're very clear about that). It's the type where your motel room door opens up to the outside. So, if you stay here in the winter months be prepared to have anyone you're sharing a room with scream at you every time you open the door and let the cold air blow in. lol
If I had any complaints it was that the TV was perhaps a tad small for where it was mounted in relation to the bed (a bit too far away for a screen that size). Oh, and housekeeping just walked into one of our rooms without a courtesy knock (yes, yes, we should have had the deadbolt locked and the DND sign up).
Employees were friendly. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to others.
