We have been staying at this hotel every year since it was built. We loved it up until our last 2 stays. This time, we were given a room but when we opened the door noticed it hadn't been cleaned from the night before. We went back to the front desk and got a different room and the lady apologized and said she took 15% off our bill. (That didn't actually happen). We got to the new room and found that the ice machine wasn't working on the 3rd floor, we has this same issue the last stay too, so I had to go down to the first floor for ice. There was no Wi-Fi in the room, we connected after 3 or 4 tries but got disconnected right away. There was also no inside lock on our room door (the one you flip over a hook on the door). That will most likely be our last stay there.

I am extremely sorry you were not satisfied with your stay with us at The Niobrara Lodge. We have definitely struggled the last 12 months between COVID and a small work force. We are putting all our efforts in to providing a quality stay for all our guests. I do hope you will stay with us again.

What a wonderful place to stay! The rooms were very clean and quiet. The breakfast bar was very nice and served a little longer than usual. The staff was very friendly and helpful; even helped us with dinner recommendations for delivery to the lodge. Will we stay here again? Absolutely!

Our room was clean and bed was comfortable. Though it’s quite strange to see employees not wearing a mask, the mask mandate in Nebraska does not apply to smaller communities. The COVID era breakfast was a tad subpar. Perhaps it is more robust in normal conditions.

Thank you for your recent review and rating of your stay with us at The Niobrara Lodge! We do appreciate it and you are correct that there is no mask mandate in the State of Nebraska. There are mandates in some cities/towns but in Valentine. The breakfast situation is not what we would typically have and we are exploring other options at this time. If you come back again perhaps that will be better for everyone! Thank you again for the review and we hope to see you again!

This hotel was a fine place to stay for 2 nights while we were out in the Valentine area. The rooms could have been cleaner, but that seemed to be more due to the age of the fixtures, rather than the skill of the housekeepers. And we would have been a little happier if other people in the hotel were wearing masks while in the lobby and breakfast area, but I don't think this was state mandated at the time we were in Valentine this year. On the positive side, the staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the hotel was located directly next to the rafting outfitters building.

See above. Approximately '4' young gentlemen was not social distancing, laughing and sneezing around the breakfast bar and staff did not intervene and advise them to distance themselves. Similarly, when I returned from duty that evening, a number of men were in this area doing the same thing with no staff advising them of the Lodge's COVID policies.

I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay with us at The Niobrara Lodge. We have many signs posted about social distancing but if there is a group of people that are together and are traveling together we typically do not intervene.
