Our host, James provides so much more than just a holiday! You can tell that every group is catered for individually, with care and attention to detail. Nothing was too much to ask and was exceptional value for money. Although it’s hard to compare with other retreats, as this was completely unique! The accommodation was peaceful, cosy, rustic and genuinely felt like a home-from-home with a relaxed atmosphere. Bodey, the host’s Cocker Spaniel added an extra welcome when returning each afternoon. The bedrooms were ample in size with plenty of storage, en suite shower and toilet and kept spotlessly clean The breakfast provided an a ample selection to suit every taste and set us up well for a days skiing. Afternoon tea was provided each day with freshly baked cookies. Evening dinner was excellent every night and rounded each day off perfectly. The wine provided with dinner was excellent too! Although the main resort of Peyragudes was not on the doorstep, it is only a short drive and easily accessible with the new Sky Val bubble car. It is a surprisingly good size resort, with a variety of pistes, particularly for intermediate skiers but has a number if challenging runs and some off-piste opportunities, which all feed into a well joined up lift system Top marks for making a memorable ski holiday, that will always stand out as something completely different. I will definitely return

We stayed at this chalet in September 2022 for a corporate mountain biking trip as a part of 10. We were extremely well looked after by James who was an excellent host providing useful information to aid with our trip and friendly interaction upon our return each day. The chalet was of the highest quality, being clean, warm, and spacious. In addition, the food and wine each day was some of the best I have had in similar types of chalets. I couldn’t recommend this chalet enough for a corporate event and I have no doubt any family or friends’ trips.

10 of us stayed with James and Vivienne for our annual mountain bike trip. James sorted our tour, organising three days of guided Emtb rides in the most amazing scenery. Good coaching and choice of routes, full back up team in case of any mechanicals or tumbles. The accommodation is brilliant, hot showers, cosy lounge with fire, and a nice cup of Yorkshire; exactly what you need waiting for you after a day on the bikes. Properly feels like home from home, especially with Brody the dog lounging by the fire. James is a top host, and really made us all welcome and looked after us. Vivienne’s food is delicious, great range of meals over the week, an absolute highlight. So much to explore in the area, top team, top place, will be going back.

We had a lovely room overlooking the river and towards the mountains. Avajan is ideally positioned in the to visit several top rated tourist spots such as Pic du MIDI and the national parks in the Pyrenees. James kindly in advised us where to go to enjoy the local markets, villages and the excellent spa nearby. He was kind enough to take us on a walk in the mountains with his dog and fed us well every morning before we left. Thank you James you’re an excellent host

We had originally booked this holiday for August 2020 but the Covid pandemic led to a 2 year delay. We finally got there this summer and it was well worth the wait! We had a fantastic holiday from start to finish. The accommodation was great, comfy beds, nice ensuite facilities for each bedroom, and amazing mountain views from the patio. My adventure mad husband and teenage sons enjoyed canyoning, mountain biking and parapenting. I enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the early evening with a glass of wine, looking at the mountains and wondering what culinary delights lay ahead! The food was always beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, thank you Vivienne. James was a fantastic host, he had booked all the activities in advance so all we had to do was turn up.He had a great knowledge of the local area, and everyone there seemed to know him. He took us on a couple of beautiful walks that we would have struggled to find ourselves. He was consistently cheerful, even on the early morning starts. His cheery "Morning Gang!" greeting was a good start to the day! He and Vivienne joined us playing Perudo a few evenings, great fun (especially as Vivienne and I won the most), it was like being with old friends. Bodie tolerated a few doggy pats and helped us not miss our dog in the UK too much. In summary, we had a fantastic family holiday and made lots of special memories. We definitely hope to return. Thank you so much James, Vivienne and Bodie.

Simply put… we’ve never had a holiday like it. It was perfect from start to finish and I can’t wait for our next trip (which is already booked)… We were spoilt rotten by James, and Vivienne is a class act - every meal was a joy. Nothing is too much effort and we were made to feel right at home. The beds are comfy, the house is kept spotlessly clean, and was both cosy and cool in very warm temperatures. Breathtaking views from the patio and relaxing nights on the terrace followed action packed days. The attention to detail from James made us feel like we had only to concern ourselves with getting up and at it. There is nothing to worry about at l’Ancienne Poste… everything is done for you and it’s an absolute delight. I can wax lyrical about it but if I was really honest… I want to keep this place just to ourselves!! Cannot. Wait. To go back.

I enjoyed a wonderful week at Ancienne Poste with friends to hike in the surrounding mountains. The accommodation was luxurious and very comfortable. The meals were freshly prepared by the chef, and excellent quality. The location is perfect to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. We hiked, e-biked, and visited the local spa, but there is so much more to do. James who owns and manages the accommodation was so friendly and helped us with arrangements for all our activities. Nothing was too much trouble. We particularly welcomed the tea and freshly made cakes each day when we returned from our day's activities.
