My husband and I were passing through town and stayed for just one night at Barn Anew. We would definitely recommend it to others. Cher and Alan were very down-to-earth and hospitable. I was intrigued by the idea of sleeping in one of their covered wagons. So when we spoke on the phone, Cher offered to reserve one for us in addition to a B&B room “just in case.” Great call, Cher — even though the wagon seemed super cozy, it was a windy night and I’m so glad we were able to stay in the equally cozy (yet indoor) Oregon Trail Room, en-suite bath very much included! It was immaculately clean, and the linens on the bed were super soft. Even though we arrived a bit later than the usual check-in time, Cher welcomed us and kindly made us dinner reservations with a backup suggestion that came in handy: The Tangled Tumbleweed, a tapas and wine bar in town. When we returned we spent an hour or so reading in the comfortable rendezvous room. Breakfast the next morning was a delicious frittata with freshly baked cranberry-orange muffins on the side. And a nice fruit cup to start. We were seated with other guests, and really enjoyed our conversation. Cher strongly encouraged us to check out the Scotts Bluff monument on the way out, and I’m so glad she did! Can’t believe it hadn’t come up in my travel research — it’s beautiful and offers two easy hikes with great views from the top. Bottom line: Loved Scottsbluff, thanks to our stay at Barn Anew. We hope to visit you again sometime, Cher and Alan!

A previous barn turned into a beautiful and unique B&B in the countryside in the Nebraska panhandle. The entire house is decorated with Western American and Native American memorabilias. There is a large, beautiful garden and also a balcony with a stunning view towards Scottsbluff. Each room is individually decorated with lots of furniture and artefacts. With our bags and suitcases our room was densely packed. Hosts Cher and Allan are hospital and helpful. The breakfast table was one of the most beautiful I have seen. Scottsbluff Nationsl Memorial is a short drive away and should not be missed during a visit to Barn Anew. We are glad we found this wonderful gem!

We stayed one night at Barn Anew whilst travelling up to South Dakota. The bedrooms are unique - full of historical western and American Indian artefacts, and most comfortable. The view from the communal balcony over Scott's Bluff is heavenly. Cher and Allen create a warm, hospitable environment in which you can relax - and the breakfast is great too. Best for us (though obviously not necessarily available to all) was the engaging, fascinating and enlightening conversation we had at the breakfast table with Cher and four fellow boarders. We found it hard to tear ourselves away. To cap it all, Cher recommended a route for us via Harrison and Fort Robinson which turned out to be the highlight of the trip! Thanks, Cher!

What a wonderful stay that met all of my wildest expectations. Alan & Cher were wonderful hosts and have done a wonderful job with the decorations and grounds at the Barn Anew. We had never stayed in a rural, farm setting before and truly enjoyed the beauty and the quiet. The surrounding farm fields in the active growing season are beautiful and the surrounding bluffs enhance the character of this great location. We visited the Scottsbluff National Monument, which provides beautiful vistas in all directions and some nice history, and then just a few minutes drive down the Old Oregon Trail to this wonderful overnight stay. The morning breakfast was excellent and just perfect to kick off our next day of travels. Make sure to take in some of the great travel stories from Alan & Cher! The garden setting is beautiful and makes a great wedding venue. They have many events and activity options, so ENJOY!

From the minute you arrive you are given a warm welcome from Cher & Allan. This is a beautifully converted barn on the Oregon trail and only a few minutes drive from the Scotts Bluff national monument. Our room was very comfortable with a restful lounge at our disposal. The whole barn is full of very interesting memorabilia which they have collected over the years. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Dinner suggestions are available together with reservations if needed. Breakfast was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.
