We have just returned from an amazing two night stay at Flatheim. Everything about our stay was spot on! Our room was decorated beautifully and the setting was magical. Sigord was a brilliant host! Even the drive from Bergen was lovely. This was our first time driving in Norway, once you get about 30 mins out of Bergen, the whole drive is mountains and lakes, the countryside is so picturesque! The room had everything we needed. The breakfast consisted of various breads, fruits, cereals, crackers, vegetables etc as well as fresh eggs from the chickens on the farm. It was all delicious! We really enjoyed chatting to Sigord, he gave some great advice about day trips and walks. We also loved the cats and chickens! I highly recommend a stay here! Flatheim is about an hour from Balestrand which is probably the closest tourist town and has a number of walks, however there are a number of walks and amazing waterfalls very close to Flatheim. There is also an amazing viewing platform about 5-10k away from Flatheim. …
By far our favorite lodging during our 10 day travels through Norway. Off the beaten trail, away from cruise ship crowds. The upper apartment is beautifully designed....so cozy! The adjacent Croft has been moved to the property, and has wonderful history, as does the main farmhouse. I loved that the photos in the breakfast room show Heidi’s ancestors’, the builders of the original house. Property is along a lovely mountain stream....and there were kittens when we visited! Our only regret is only having one night to stay! What a delight to have discovered Flatheim!
I stopped here with a group for an afternoon visit and delicious offering of desserts. I did not stay at the property. The owners were very nice to spend time with us and explain the history of the buildings and the area. The river location was ideal. The B & B facilities looked very pleasant and it is a place where I would stay if I return to the area. A highlight of the visit was talking to the owner about his sheep and seeing him locate them on a hillside across the river using GPS.
We traveled with our 2 young adult children and shared a large room with plenty of space. The family took us to the end of the trail so that we saved time backtracking and enjoyed more of the waterfalls. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed the glass house by the river and seeing all of the farm animals.
I loved staying here. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Property is absolutely gorgeous. Beds were comfy! Free wifi. Highly recommend staying here. Ducks, lambs, bunnies, and cats hanging out in the property. The kittens were a cute surprise. Førde is the next closest town with restaurants, but it's about an hour away.
