Green Acres is the place we stay when visiting extended family in Red Cloud. There's a fridge for your drinks and food, a microwave for those yummy diner leftovers or some popcorn, a good-sized monitor tv and the beds are firm and comfortable. Close enough for a stroll down the main road, if you feel up to it. Stan and his family are a welcome delight for anything else one may need, information about this wonderful town, and great conversation over a cup of coffee that is provided in the office's lobby. Look forward to our next stay here.
We spent a night at Green Acres Motel while visiting Red Cloud. If you’re looking for 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a private jacuzzi, keep going. If all you need is a safe, reasonably clean, inexpensive, no frills place to stay the night just outside Red Cloud and don’t mind a room that has needed renovation for decades, this will do fine. The front desk folks were very friendly and quick to fix an issue with our room. Some of the furniture, fixtures, and bedding are old, but the sheets and pillowcases were clean and the bed comfortable. No smoke smell in our room. There is a fridge, microwave, and small flat screen TV with Roku. Everything worked fine. The free wifi had good signal, and there is a small well-lit work desk. Bathroom setup is good, with sink/mirror and large counter separate from toilet and shower. Lighting decent with ventilation fan, shower was hot with good water pressure and nice shower head. Some road noise from big trucks but generally quiet. Dollar store close by, short hop to the charming town center. We had a good night and morning. We had our pre-packed breakfast in our room to the sound of horses across the street. I found it comfortable and would stay again.…
Nice RV sites behind motel. Electric/water/sewer. Next to a pasture with horses. Quiet. Friendly owners and great price. Only drawback is there's not much shade. Nice place to meet family who don't camp.
Located on the north edge of town, and within easy walking distance to downtown, Green Acres has always been our "go-to" motel whenever we have a family get-together in Red Cloud. The owners are very nice and always helpful in accommodating our occasional special requests. The price is right and the service is the best!
Totally Happy here. You'd be crazy to drive by. Very good rates, and very cordial!! I'll give five stars!!! You will find this motel once you cross the Nebraska border. Motel is on the left hand side.
Your options are limited in Red Cloud for motels. I've stayed here in 2014 and 2015 and both times it was hard to get any sleep because other guests/locals tend to stay here and have a good time late into the night. I agree the owners are nice and I'd say the rooms definitely need to be updated. Bring earplugs and patience if you stay here.
A very pleasant road side motel similar to those throughout small town U.S. What distinguishes this one is the superior attitude and desire to please exemplified by the owners and staff. Yes, it could use some updating, but it was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. I was in Red Cloud for a Road Scholar program on Willa Cather.
I agree that the owners were hospitable and helpful. But they do really need to do some upgrades. First of all better lighting is needed, it was really dim. The lamp shades were torn up and when you touched them pieces came off. Chairs in the room were uncomfortable. I am surprised that with the visitors they must get for the Willa Cather Foundation that more updating hasn't been done.
First I must say the owners and their family are incredible people. Beyond nice and accommodating (even when my Aunt tried to burn down the hotel on a visit a few years ago). The motel is the only option (besides a bed and breakfast) in Red Cloud and surrounding area. It's inexpensive and clean for the most part (a few dusty areas). The furniture and furnishings are very dated, but they are all functional. The Wifi was free and worked well even out to the last room. The heater worked well and our only real complaint was that the toilet pipes made a loud whining noise after flushing.
I have been staying at the Green Acres motel for 10 years when I go to visit family. It was purchased about that 10 years ago by new owners. The rooms are always clean, and they have been making lots of updates, something new every time I visit. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. They have a coffee pot in the lobby, so you feel just like one of the family when you go for your cup of joe in the morning. There are a couple of bed and breakfasts in town, but my husband and I always stay at Green Acres!
