Reading some recent reviews, I don't think these people stayed in the same hotel I just did last weekend. From the moment I arrived, it was quiet and the staff was super friendly. I did not hear noisy neighbors or yeehaw, I did not smell smoke anywhere in the hotel, the rooms were very clean and did not smell "rank". I'm not sure what "deadly virus" another reviewer was referring to, maybe they were expecting to stay at the Hilton? I had an amazing nights sleep in the comfortable room and SUPER comfy bed! My fridge was turned up too high so my bottled water froze, but oh well. It melted just as easily. The elevator did make a weird grinding noise just as I got up to 3rd floor. But that didn't stop me from using it. The whole place was very impressive. I have already booked a 3 night stay in October. Can't wait to stay again!

Enjoyed my stay, the room was clean and comfortable. The location is off the main roads enough to be quiet with no road noise. Very nice and personable staff at check in and check out. Will defiantly stay there again.

One of the best hotel stays in a long time. Great value. Nice staff. Very clean. I complimented the front desk on our stay on the way out, and she said the manager has stepped up the quality of linens and towels and has focused on the details that matter to travelers- you can tell! Highly recommend.

We were looking for a clean hotel with a pet friendly designation for a quick overnight stay during a recent emergency trip. Two choices had what we were looking for in Microtel Inn and La Quinta which both looked good. Microtel Inn was our pick mostly because of the lower cost associated with a stay but we did not see that there was any charge for our pet when booking the room. Not that a charge for pets was a surprise to us but it would have been nice to know prior to arrival. The other thing is that the fee that was charged was originally printed on the form we signed showed $10 which had been crossed out and raised to $15. Again, no major increase but when it was a surprise that they charged a non-refundable fee coupled with a five dollar increase over what the form had been originally printed to show this turned into a disappointment. The room was clean, nothing special in the way of decorations but to be expected of a budget hotel. This hotel was conveniently located close to gas stations, restaurants and the interstate so no issues with finding other services or getting back on our way the next morning. We did not check out the continental breakfast as we desired more for a start your day meal. All things considered I believe that we would have made a better choice with the other option as the included full breakfast would have more than made up the difference in price.

When booking on line, our pet fee is listed with the hotel policies that also show our hotel to be pet friendly. Again, sorry for the confusion. - David_GM

Rooms were very dirty and smelled rank. The lobby smells like cigarette smoke. None of the staff wears masks and guests are not required to wear a mask. If you want to get a deadly virus, by all means stay here.

I'm sorry that your experience wasn't what we would hope for our guests. We have some of the best housekeepers in town and if any of our guests are not pleased with a room, we are more than happy to find another room for them. As you can see from the other reviews posted, cleanliness is one of our strengths. Our hotel is 100% smoke free. The safety of our guests and staff is important. During these uncertain times, we have taken additional cleaning measures and maintaining social distancing. Our employees and guests are given the option of wearing masks, but are not required. I hope this answers any questions you might have.

Stopped here for a quick overnight on a road trip. The room was dirty, damaged, and in need of basic updates. The mattresses were questionable at best and well beyond their lifespan. The carpet was stained, the fake wood paneling was damaged, the toilet seat was missing hinge covers, the bathtub nozzle was crooked, the shower nozzle was dirty, the toiletries looked old... the list goes on and on.
Their WiFi did not work well. After I connected to it, I rarely had full signal. Even their little WiFi instructional page was beaten up and in need of replacing. So much of what I saw could have been easily fixed, and it was clear that no one could be bothered to do so.
Staff was friendly but not always wearing masks. Staff did not enforce mask wearing for patrons walking around the lobby.
Tables in the small breakfast area were very close to the food, making it impossible to get breakfast without being too close to seated guests (who were understandably massless because they were eating).
It was stressful enough to have to travel and worry about COVID, I didn’t need the added feeling of gross left by this hotel.
I am very surprised that Wyndham allows their brand to be represented in this way. Wyndham should look into updating or closing this location.

Location is very convenient to I-80 access and yet quiet and safe. I like the location near the walking path. Breakfast was reasonable with hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal, bisquits and gravy and waffles. Staff was pleasant.

We were driving from Chicago to Oregon. Kearney was our first stop . We were so happy that we stayed at the Microtel . Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and seemed happy to be working there. Beds were very comfortable, TV selection great and breakfast excellent. We got in late - Breakfast goes until 9:30 and we slept in - got to breakfast at 9:30. Some people got there after Staff did everything to make us feel welcome and make sure we had everything we needed No pressure that it was after breaksfast time. Above and beyond,

I have stayed here a few times when visiting my family in Iowa and driving from San Diego, especially lately during COVID when I didn't want to fly or have my family members fly. This became my go to spot because it backs up onto some lovely trees which are uplifting to look out at. The manager actually looks at the requests you put in about where you would like to be located in the hotel and for us this makes all the difference. We always have a nice room on a high floor looking out at the trees with windows that open to let in fresh air. It feels like being in nature instead of being in a sad generic chain hotel with cars zipping by like most of the others. I give them credit for actually listening to what you ask for when you make the reservation writing it down as a request. They read it and will honor it This is so rare, as I realized all over again while on a three week business trip this summer with a visit to my family added on. Almost every other hotel I stayed at did the opposite of this. Here everything works, people are nice and they listen to you, the rooms are clean, I slept well, and it is a cut above in Kearney.

We were pleasantly surprised at the Microtel Inn. The ladies at the front desk were very competent and friendly. The room was good sized and felt roomy with a couch and wet bar area, and even a window seat. The refrigerator had a small freezer compartment to keep our ice packs frozen. There are only queen size beds (no kings) but it was a clean comfortable night. And they allow pets for an additional fee.

When is the best time to come to see the spring migration of cranes?
Answer from Shauntelle B
Kearney, Nebraska20 contributions8 helpful votes
Thanks for asking. Actually right now is the best time. Generally they start coming around Valentine Day, peak around St. Patty's day and are gone by tax day. They started arriving a little late this year and are just peaking in numbers right now. Late March early April can be a great time to view them as they aren't quite as jumpy and you can observe them closer.
