I want to say a big thank you to Suzanne for all of her help and support with our wedding ceremony organisation. All the vendors she organised to us were really nice, professional and helpful people. They were wedding celebrant, florist, photographer, hair and make up artist, wedding co-ordinator, etc. We definitely had a unforgettable day!!

We spent two nights at The Stoneridge with our family for our small wedding. During this time we occupied the entire lodge. The beauty of this property and its surroundings are even more striking in person. We enjoyed the high quality of the rooms; lovely bedding, linens, furnishings and decor. It was a luxurious touch to have included in our stay a complementary minibar, wine and cheeseboard plus turndown service. The staff were incredibly warm and kind, taking the time to chat and it felt like nothing was a bother to them. The chefs who made our daily breakfast did a fantastic job and there were a great variety of choices for all. We highly enjoyed every moment of our stay and our special day at The Stoneridge. We will be back!!!

We had been travelling in New Zealand for 6 weeks before we stayed at Stoneridge Retreat. It was the reset we really needed. We stayed for four nights in the retreat section. We had such an amazing stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The views from our window and balcony of the valley and mountains were incredible. It was a truly special way to wake up in the morning. The room was very spacious, extremely well designed and very comfortable. We made full use of the pool and sauna. Which was a very nice way to end the day. But what really made the stay was the service staff and little touches. We loved having the cheese platter in the afternoon every day. All the staff were extremely helpful and polite throughout our stay. In particular Suzanne was amazing and made our stay perfect. We were travelling with our 5 month old daughter and she made the whole experience a delight. From arranging our wine tour. To sorting out our massage packages (I would highly recommend this if you have the time). To sorting out our trust the chef experience. As well as all our other needs. Like having a baby cot already set up in our room. It made our stay from start to finish so enjoyable and completely stress free. No request seemed to small for her and she responded to our emails quickly and efficiently. The other person we wanted to mention was Rebecca who was our sommelier and server when we had our trust the chef experience. She is extremely knowledgeable about the wine pairings for our courses. She is also such a lovely person. She made the dinner such a special and a truly enjoyable experience. Due to her and the food being delicious. We decided to do another two nights of the chef experience. In short we had an amazingly stay at Stoneridge. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and that mixed with the views and Stoneridge itself made for a truly special four days. We will definitely be coming back.

Having our marriage celebration at Stoneridge Estate was an absolute dream!! Our pre-event planner (of three years, thanks to Covid!), Emily Brown, was just amazing. Warm, caring, professional and competent - she handled every detail beautifully and made sure that we were 100% comfortable with each step of the way. Sue Arrowsmith was our day-of coordinator and she is such a sweetheart and so very competent, caring and kind, too! She is also very adept at lacing bridal gowns, which came in handy! :). James, our photographer, was so fun and charismatic - he made our time in the gardens and on the mountain range go by quickly and smoothly! The grounds and views are stunning, the cottages are extremely comfortable, and every single staff member we encountered was lovely. It was hard to say goodbye to Stoneridge!

Stoneridge Estate was an excellent stay for us. It is beautiful and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We stayed in the retreat—wow. The view of Cardrona Peak was stunning and we loved the private deck and view. We enjoyed being away from busy Queenstown, but could go in for dinner if we chose to. Breakfast was first class and had lots of options from which to choose. The complimentary wine and cheese tray was a great touch. We have been traveling through NZ and this was a special treat!

It's not all 5 star at the Stoneridge Estate. I'm writing this so you know in advance what you are getting and the integrity of the management you are dealing with. We booked this property through a travel agent and booked the expensive Retreat building Rooms. This was confirmed by written confirmation from the hotel itself. But the day before our arrival, the hotel notified us that the General Manager had downgraded us to the less expensive Lodge building. However, they would be happy to give us back our original rooms if we paid an additional US$ 541. Unbelievable. right? But it was a trip of a lifetime for us, so we paid. The hotel claimed they downgraded us because 1) the hotels' terms and conditions said they could do anything they wanted to and 2) we didn't pay the right amount for the Retreat rooms (our travel agent said we paid the correct amount). In the US, that's called " bait and switch" and it's illegal. Not sure if it is illegal in New Zealand, but if it's not, it should be. Next, we had we had a problem with our reservation. Although our travel agent booked us for 4 nights, the hotel only booked us for 3. We were told this could only be corrected by the General Manager, who was rarely on site and did not like to return phone calls. When finally reached, he said we could extend to 4 nights. Then he called back the next day and told us we needed to leave, causing us to scramble to find new accommodations during a very busy travel period. It appeared to me that the hotel was in full cost cutting mode. Not the 5 star experience you are expecting and paying for. Here are a few examples. 1) It appears the A/C gets turned off at night. See the picture below. The thermostat is set at 19 degrees (66 F), but in the morning our room is 31.5 degrees (89 F). You can look forward to some very hot nights! 2) We arrived at 3 PM to check in. No one at the desk. It was 45 minutes later and 2 calls to a help line before someone showed up. 3) We asked for help with luggage as there is no elevator (see photo of the stairs you will need to drag your bags up). We were told there was a person to help with luggage, but he wasn't around every day. Huh? 4) The hotel offers a free glass of wine and cheese every day at happy hour. But we were told the new policy was a glass of "rose only" or there would be a charge of $12, per person, per glass a day. If you and your partner have a class of non-rose wine and stay 5 days, you will be billed $120 for your "free wine". 5) Breakfast was served from 7-10. However, you are repeatedly asked everyday what time you will be having breakfast the next day. I was told they need to know to be sure the chef can come in and cook it for you. Huh? If you stay here...good luck

Response from Wayne Gore, General Manager at Stoneridge Estate
Responded May 24, 2023
Thank you for the review of the property and we are sorry that you were not satisfied with your stay with us. We have had extensive correspondence with you re the alleged mismanagement of your booking. Your agent booked you into one of our Lodge Suites and this is what we charged you for. Unfortunately your agent confirmed the wrong room type with you and advised you that you were booked into one of our Retreat Suites, which have a higher tariff. To suggest that Stoneridge downgraded you or that the property tried to charge you more for the room that was booked for you is simply untrue. Your agent booked you for 3 nights and you were sent a booking confirmation for the 3 nights. When you requested during your stay to add a 4th night, we unfortunately were fully-booked. Stoneridge staff attended on you several times with an apology that we could not accommodate you for the 4th night, including leaving a gift in your room - notwitstanding it was not our mistake. A technician checked the air conditioning unit in your room upon your departure and everything tested fine. It would appear you were not familiar with the operating system instructions that were in the compendium in your room. We would have been happy to send a host to show you how to use it if we had been aware that you were having difficulties. There is an intercom at the front door which connects to cell phones, including my cell phone, and there is also a phone number at reception to call in the event a staff person is attending another customer with check in. I am unsure why you maintain that there was no staff attendance on check-in. The petite lady who checked you in was not able to manage your heavy bag and went to find another stronger male staff person to assist her. There is 24/7 assistance available from both hosting staff or by contact numbers that are in your room compendium. We provide a complimentary glass of the estate's Pinot Rose and a cheese platter daily, and there are also complimentary soft drinks and bottled water available in the room mini-fridge. If guests prefer an alternative beverage then they are welcome to order from our wine list either per glass or bottle at the prices listed. Breakfast is served daily from 7.30am - 10.00am. When we call the room to offer the daily platter each afternoon, we usually enquire of guests what time they would like breakfast to be sure they aren't inconvenienced if they have tight scheduling of activities or an early departure. If guests prefer not to advise a breakfast time then this is fine and they are welcome to come down anytime during breakfast hours. We hope you enjoyed the other places you visited in NZ.

What a fantastic place to end our south island trip in, with the most phenomenal view It was hands down the best experience we had, the room was so spacious & clean. We loved the complimentary wine & cheese at aperitif time. The pool was a welcome amenity on a hot day. A great breakfast the next morning set us up for the day. The only problem we had, was that we didn't book for long enough! We will definitely return, can highly recommend. Special shout out to Jonno for his friendly approach & the best pancakes!

This is one of the nicest inns we have stayed at - and we have been traveling the world for 35+ years! We stayed in the Arrow Suite on the first floor of the lodge and the suite was huge. It included two sitting rooms along with the bathroom and bedroom. There was a large closet in the bedroom, as well as a storage closet for luggage. The views of the vineyard, Lake Hayes and the surrounding mountains were phenomenal. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. Breakfast each morning was a feast with a continental of fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, cereals and fresh pastries. Then you can order a cooked breakfast with multiple options. Each afternoon they provide a cheese plate with crackers and fruit to your room along with wine from their vineyard. We didn’t want to leave!
