Historic hotel which is a plus. Reasonable rates. Zero amenities. No in room coffee/tea. No breakfast options. No maid service. No streaming TV. Only hotel personnel appears to be the person at registration. This could be great with just a little effort.
The Queen sized bed was a full size mattress which was also very high. Mattress was like sleeping on a wobbley balloon. Coffee in the morning was bad. Barely can maneuver in the shower area, which was right on top of the toilet. Got 1 hand towel! Expected more for such a fancy looking hotel!!!
Day 11 of my 2 week independent hotel/motel trip. Hard to pick a favorite for this trip, but this place may just be it. Absolutely charming place. Historic, but modern. My complaint is something probably no one else will find a complaint. But you can only take the stairs for an emergency. They are working on the 2nd floor, so the stairs are kind of off limits. The bed was comfortable, some people may find it high up. The air conditioner/heater does run almost constantly, but I need to have sound on somewhere for me to fall asleep, so it didn't bother me. Bathroom has the sink outside the toilet/shower area. Sink was a boutique sink.
First, the plusses: The hotel itself is nice in a boutique way, with antique furnishings and well kept. I stayed in room 413 - Froeschl (each room is named). A nicely appointed room with a sink outside the toilet/shower area. The shower is roomy, but you need to maneuver a bit around the toilet to get in and out. Water pressure was very good and hot water was very quickly available. There is a padded bench at the desk, but no actual chair for seating in the room. The bed is very high, with a small stool available in the closet for access, if having difficulty. There is a heating/cooling unit below the window, which I turned off at night to retain some quiet. The bar downstairs is more modern, and the bartenders were very professional and helpful. The minus: This room faces the courthouse with very bright led lampposts outside at night. The blinds on the room window are not darkening, so much light gets in. I had difficulty sleeping my first night, so asked at the front desk in the morning if anything could be done to help cover the window. The desk staff said that she would ask housekeeping to look into it. When I returned later that day, the room had been straightened up, but nothing was done with the window and no note about it. After another semi-sleepless night, I went out for the day and returned later to find that there had been no housekeeping. Possibly no service on Sundays? For the daily price being paid for the room, that should be done daily. Overall, it is a nice place to stay, but I believe that the hotel charges a bit too much for their rooms. This is maybe because the only competition are two motels that are outside of the town center. I believe that a little accommodation for this guest's sleep could have gone towards a better review since the main reason to be at a hotel is to sleep.…
Located right on the city Square. This Classic Hotel has been nicely renovated. Parking located right at door. Furnished with classic furniture. Usually only had a bench for seating. Some rooms have the sink in the bedroom. Broad hallways, new elevator. Reasonably priced. HINT: The walls are not very sound proofed. Request rooms that are not occupied immediate next door.
We had room 411 overlooking the court house. It is tiny room. There is small padded bench for sitting . The toilet and shower are in bathroom while sink with tiny vanity in the bedroom right near the bed. The vanity has room for one toothbrush. The four poster Bed was high with stool provided for short people to get into bed. This all sounds negative but we enjoyed the ambience of this historic hotel. Coffee is in vending machine room for a few hours each morning . There is a bakery nearby for breakfast. However the bakery is not open on Sundays. We will definitely return to this hotel but will reserve a larger room.
We were told all available hotel rooms are on the 4th floor while they convert the 2nd and 3rd floors to apartments. The first floor is the lobby, bar/lounge, and barbershop. There used to be a restaurant on the first floor, but it is currently being used for renovation material storage. Everyone who worked the reception desk was friendly and helpful. Owner and staff are rightfully proud of the building's history. Got a room for two nights as walk-ins. Very accommodating in storing our huge tandem bicycle with trailer in the old restaurant space. No luggage cart to take panniers up, but there was an elevator. Room 407 was clean. The bed had many fancy shammed pillows and two very thin sleeping pillows. We made it work and did not ask for additional sleeping pillows. Window AC unit kept the room comfortable. Both windows had wide-slat Venetian blinds only, so expect to wake with the sun. Florescent ceiling fixtures. Only one parson's chair in the room. No writing desk, but there was a low chest of drawers as a bedside table. Armoire for clothes, but only three hangers. Very small sink vanity in the bedroom made it a challenge even with our minimalist his/her toiletries. Toilet was in a closet without a ventilation fan - Glade air spray provided. Shower stall in the bedroom, but again no ventilation fan for steam. Wall TV in the room, but we never turned it on. Could hear neighbor's TV through the wall. Coffee service was in the 4th floor vending room 6AM-10AM. Powdered creamer. Pre-bagged ice for the room's ice bucket was available in the lobby. No guest laundry. No continental breakfast. No coffee/tea in room. Easy walking distance to locally owned restaurants, grocery, post office, Shopko, and Stanton Lake Park. Everyone we met during our two days in town was exceptionally welcoming. If you are looking for a pretty place for a special get-away with minimal luggage, this is it. If you are looking for functionality during a cross-country bicycle ride, this works with limitations.…
I was in Falls City for a short state business trip and 'jumped' at the opportunity to stay at the Grand Weaver Hotel. I truly enjoy staying at historic hotels instead of the standard chain hotels. Just entering the front door took my breath away. I thought WOW they have done a beautiful job renovating this hotel; and the rest of the property was beautifully done as well. It does my heart good to know there are investors in our country that are willing to take the time to restore an older property instead of just 'tearing it down', and particularly in a smaller community like Falls City. Thank you for 'a night well slept'. Oh, and the small bar, The Den makes some delicious martinis! Can't wait to have a few more of those again either!! Sandra
With the historic look. This hotel is beautiful, quiet. Comfortable beds. Close to several eating places, grocery store, shopping. Couldn't be more perfect. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Will stay again when im in town.
Stayed here with a friend and toured Falls City a bit. THe hotel was extremely clean and beautiful. Its a historic hotel built in the 20's. The decor is drop dead gorgeous. I highly recommend that this is the best hotel to stay at. There is no restraunt there or anything, however lots of places to choose with in walking distance as it is located on the town square. Staff is great, maid is great, we especially liked the little gal crocheting behind the desk.
