We camped for one night at Fljotstunga in late August, primarily to take the Víðgelmir lava cave tour the next morning. We were the only campers there although the 4 small cabins immediately next to the camping area were all full. We managed to drive our RV up to the check-in building, turn it around in the small lot (!)... More

We had an amazing one-night-stay at Fljótstunga. The athmosphere you`re surrounded is just amazing! There are all types of landscapes of lava, mountains, valleys, glaciers, rivers, caves. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here in June in one of the small cabins with the shared shower. The cabin was small but was clean and equipped with all of the basics. We loved the horses that roamed freely and enjoyed the beautiful views and serene location. The shared shower needs some work. Sharing the shower was not an issue as we never... More

We loved staying at Fljotstunga. The cabins are nestled amongst a lava field, and feel very peaceful and in-tune with their beautiful surroundings. The whole place had a very good atmosphere. The cabins are lovingly made, and warm and cosy. We arrived at 6pm, and the restaurant in the nearest village (about half hour away) closed at 4pm, so make... More

Charming rustic cabins located in a beautiful isolated landscape. The somewhat basic level of comfort is more than compensated by the friendliness of the hosts and the charm of the environment. Good breakfast and efficient internet reservation process. Great value.

We were in the biggest (Hraun) cottage few minutes down the road from the reception - it is between the road and the lava field, with some scattered houses nearby. A remote location with wonderful views. The cottage itself is nice, romantic, spacious enough and we really enjoyed it. There is a room for improvement, though. The cottage is lovely,... More

Fljotstunga farm has a lot of spirit and is located near a glacier, with fantastic lava hiking trails all around, really in the middle of nowhere. The desk folks were very nice, and our cottage (Haklot) was absolutely charming, comfortable, and had a well-equipped kitchen with gorgeous views. We were here for one night. I wish we had arrived a... More

Our trip to Iceland would not have been complete without a nights stay at Fljotstunga Farm. The farm is very remote, peaceful and the surrounding landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. The owner and the people working on the farm are incredibly welcoming. The cottage itself was very clean and cozy. My husband and I really enjoyed the lava field hike, walking... More

Although I just spent one night in the cottage it was beautiful because the cottage was very cozy and quiet. The cottage was very clean as well and provided with a nice kitchen corner. The big windows allowed a great view through the whole valley. Do not miss the cave tour!

As I am planning a return trip to Iceland in June this year, I thought I would share the 3 night stay in the small hut (Hlid) at Fljotstunga in June 2013. The accomodation is faiirly basic and Fljotstunga quite remote, but what makes it great is that it is basic and in the middle of nowhere - you are... More
