An unforgettable Valentine's Day weekend and surprising encounters at La Fontaine aux Muses!
The Pointeau-Langevin family excels in everything from music to gastronomy. The estate and the hotel in the countryside are full of charm, quiet and relaxing.

After a long journey with delays around Paris because of roadworks, we arrived at La Fontaine aux Muses ready to simply rest. The first thought of Liz and Vincent was to look to our food needs: 'Vincent thought a steak?'. We declined, regrettably, but had an excellent fresh salad with bread and cheese as supper.
This delightful, homely spot is well worth a visit. It's a little off the A6 (jct 18) but could be in the middle of nowhere. A converted convent with elegant, ancient rooms, delightful grounds, and their own vineyard (see later).
Breakfast is simple, and very French: bread, croissants, jam, coffee and juice. The restaurant has an excellent reputation (sadly we didn't eat on Saturday evening, when they have jazz nights - locals just jammin' together), and we would dearly have loved to taste Vincent's cooking.
Our Friday evening was accompanied by a bottle of La Fontaine's own Pinot Noir (excellent, and available for purchase, as is their Chardonnay), good company chatting in the bar with some other guests and the owners and a nice sip of 'digestif' - home made by Vincent.
Despite arriving tired and late, we still wanted to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, hospitality and good food and wine prepared by the lovely hosts, Liz (English, by the way, if that helps!) and Vincent.
We WILL be going back, rest assured.

End of season, needs serious refreshment. Rooms poor value for money, beds not comfortable,. Wine vastly overpriced and breakfast poor value but cuisine excellent and jazz a treat Bar area very tatty and madam offered to put champagne in at the price of cremant which she did not have but "forgot" to do so.

Elizabeth, Vincent and Edouard make their clients feel special! . The Jazz dinner on a Saturday night is unique , with a set menu, their own vineyard wines, and Vincent's special food!!, all followed by live music, led by Vincent ( in Chef's Whites!) and family with locals guesting - A Great atmosphere. We return year after year, if we are allowed!! Wonderful stopover en route to the South !!
